Alright, so another kind of nuetral update leaning at shipping any day now. The email confirmation is eh BC it will delay slightly maybe but I get emails right away so not a big deal I guess, at least we know it shouldn't ship to the wrong place.
That green ti looks nice, the temptation to upgrade is real

My confidence that hoppers will be made has definitely gone up. The colors thing is silly all around - no one should expect the simulated marketing photos to match the final colors (or the one rough picture to accurately show the final colors), and it's an oversight of GH to have red as an option, it suggests they hadn't looked very deep into it till very recently. Bugs me to have what looks like current science (that I know nothing about beyond a few google searches) recast as "not meeting our standards", but not fully dishonest?

Have to say, I think I'm in the first 300 backers, and I do not expect a delivery notice in May. It's the vagueness - I know it might be a personal communication style instead of a strategy, but I can't imagine if they were counting on any shipments before the June 1st update, that they wouldn't call attention to it. Seems most reasonable that the "holding the tightest standards" stuff means 'we are still figuring out production' and "check back on June 1st" means 'we're just as curious as you where we'll be in 2 weeks.'

I do like that this is all two guys trying really hard to make a thing.

I'm looking forward to finding out all the great stuff they are going to surprise us with to help us get over the long wait.

I'm hoping to see:
Longer battery life than shown in Buzz's video (although it was more than enough for those two to get wrecked).
More informative battery indicator lighting.
Stealth mode to disable the lights.
Plays The Grasshopper Song or at least chirps like a grasshopper when you shake it.
Shoots laser beams in a matching color.
Beeps to indicate when the bowl is spent.
Synchs with iPhone.
And of course, writes like a pen.​

They've gotta give us at least one of these, right?

O_O The green hopper is...so beautiful. I have to see if I can switch from grey to green somehow. I was not digging the color on the rendered green colored hoppers, but this... O_O
Edit: I'm probably gonna end up caving and buying one of the awesome bronzes eventually, for a spare...Damn they look good.

That video was posted 2 days ago, many people were probably not aware of it, so it is "new".

And they never said it wasn't a pre prod unit... In fact they had said in past update that pre prod units were the ones going out, so they kinda did say that Ina way if anything...

I think very few have made it into wild, and most are for people closer to company that dont post online (maybe even told not to?). It is true they are trying to make the new review and video seem like more are out there in the verbiage, but eh that's kinda to be expected at this point imo.

And they dont want backers and pre orders to feel neglected, so keeping it to very few is probably smart. Loads of reviews will be pooring in for better or worse once we have em, so best to spend the time with quality control as they seem to be. All good news to me

Sorry if this has been addressed, but how does this smell after use? I see they have a stainless steel cover, so hope that masks the smell. I'm wondering if I took a few tokes in my car during break (vapor exhaled out of the car), will this thing stink up my car? All my other portables do unless in a case.

I found the update encouraging. It sounds like they're already starting to build and ship the units. We've heard from someone on Reddit that Trevor said they are shipping a bunch next week. I didn't see anything negative in the report, aside from the fact Titanium Red won't be available. (Same on them for not researching what colors are possible to anodize Titanium before selling the colors!)

Having been inventing for the past year. I can understand and respect their desire to "get it right" before starting to ship "v1.0" to paying customers. Often I sit on my inventions for months, tweaking and testing the design before I'm happy enough to share with y'all.

There are inventions I could launch right now and sell, which would probably satisfy many of you. But it doesn't satisfy my desire for perfection, so I go back and modify the designs, and go through the whole process again.

Frustrating for consumers like us, but in the end, I think we'll be thrilled with it.

I've seen a lot of cool pen cases on Etsy. As soon as I get my tracking number, I'm going to place an order for a sweet leather one

I wish they would have gotten at least 1 Ti unit pre-production of final out into the wild early... the lack of knowledge on how it feels and runs is probably the biggest thing from emailing and swapping to a green Ti unit

I actually work at the Safeway on Baseline in Boulder which is like less then 5 miles from Hopper Labs.:tup:. I think I might swing by on the way to work this week just to Ooo and ahhh! I'm great with the wait cause these guys seem to have took their time and thought it through. I also backed the green one which I am very stoked about! Maybe the Grasshopper himself will be working? I'd love to get an autograph from him!:D

If they took their time and thought it through, how are they just now discovering they can't reproduce the colors they wanted in Titanium?

tho the fact that they just found that out is a little weird but I didn't order one so w.e :p

It appears that they are electrically anodized. They all have a nice smooth even finish. Heat anodization usually leaves splotches and overlapping patterns. They could produce a Pink one if they wished as it is an attainable color.

Just remember that anodizing is only on the surface. With handling and wear and tear the anodizing will start to fade and scratch.

Getting psyched after seeing the color Ti's. I had been hesitant to choose blue because in the mockup it looked almost navy, now glad I took my chance with it... lovely :love:

Those who said they wished they had ordered a diff color, you can change it - just send a note to Trevor. Unless it's to change to blue and your order date was before 2/8/15, then you can't :brow:

I go back to work on Monday after a semester at school. If the GHs ship in the next two weeks I'll have money to finally order one!

And I'll repeat the sentiment a lot of you have: those bronze and green Ti units are feckin sexy.

I got a grey Ti because I thought it would be stealthier than the non-coated hoppers. Less shiny, more bland and businesslike in a laptop case. I was also hoping the grey color would make it harder to see the temperature adjustment markings since those seem like a tip-off that this is not a regular pen.

Was reading the Wikipedia page for anodization. Seems like brighter colors are available for aluminum and other metals...looks like the original colors were based on those rather than what's possible with Ti. Typical case of not knowing what you don't know. Can't fault them too much since this is a crowd funding situation where they are openly figuring it out on our dime. Its frustrating not to know more but I understand they are hesitant to make too many specific promises when surprises like this keep cropping up out of left field. I'm really hoping these start shipping soon.

Awesome, please report back if you see anything like production happening. Either they don't get the power of an image of many hoppers on a workbench, or they're just not close. Vagueness = harder waiting, if they just said 'now we're testing our processes on a run of 20 before we enter full production' or something I could wait for months.

Yes, all vapes will give off smell. If left in a car it will eventually fill the car up with smell.

GH just so happens to sell an airtight stainless case for the hopper, perhaps get one.

I miss read a previous post... Ignore the second half of this!

Those to colors look good, I didn't order one because the renders looked awful IMO, and figured ide get a as to beat on (ti would probably scratch)

But I'm digging those.... They are what I imagined before seeing the render photos.
