The Voltage Keeper

Next batch of boards is here, and I should have more than enough for everyone on the list, we'll see how many I can actually get done this weekend!

I'm still waiting on batteries and chargers, so no battery units will be getting done this weekend unfortunately, but all the rest I'm hoping will see some good progress!

Welp, nailed it! Knocked out 5 units today. All the standard units on my list are now done.

A battery vk and a custom unit going to the same customer are next in line, as well as an even-higher-powered-VK for another customer (6a continuous load instead of 3a like the last one, versus around 2a on the standard unit), however still waiting on the batteries, chargers, and higher power boards for those. I may work on the one custom though, we'll see!

I'm also finally working to revamp the site, now that I'm caught up on units. I am going to be adding all the knob variations officially (top, front, moog or locking) mostly because I now finally know which combinations will and won't work, after having requests for nearly every possible one, ha! I'm also going to add the VK nail and battery VK among other things, and hopefully fix my shipping calculator for international customers as well. All that's still a work in progress, so don't be surprised to see the website in a funky state while that's all going on!

Piles and piles of parts just arrived this week, well, just about everything EXCEPT my next batch of batteries! Ah well! They finally hit US customs, so I'm hoping they show at my door soon. That means there's still some more time until the next battery VK's are done, but, I've probably got almost enough parts to build another 15-25 VK's in hand now...which is a nice feeling, I hate waiting around on parts!

I fell a little behind on those website updates too, so maybe I'll finally get around to that too. We shall see!

I also just bought some parts to potentially make some e-nail adapters. Like, aviation connector to 5-pin XLR. I had a request for such a thing, but can probably do a few more if need be. I will need to know the wiring of the aviation connector though, apparently, just to make things even more confusing, not all are wired the same!

I recently received my fourth VK - another Small 'N' Tall "The Works" unit.

It's my first unit with a vernier. I was a little worried I wouldn't like the vernier. Thought it might be too big. But it's actually really small and works quite well with the whole VK look in general.

I love being able to lock in a specific number on the dial and know that's my sweet spot.

I'm all about the Small 'N' Tall design. Unassuming. Hides easily on a bookshelf. Blends right in.

But if I could do it all over again ... I would have gotten one in the @Seren style. :mmmm:

Batteries batteries batteries!!! And enail PIDs! And more high power boards! It's raining parts over here!

Hoping this weekend will be a weekend of good progress, given I've now got all the parts on hand for everyone on the list, finally! Only 5 people on the list right now, so it's really not too bad, I can usually knock out 5 units in a weekend, we'll see if I'm that motivated, though!

I don't blame you for liking @Seren's unit, the red one's are some of my favorites, and top-mounted, it came out really nice looking. In fact, hopefully they should have it in their hands any day now, those overseas shipments do take forever though! A red top-mount battery VK is on the list now too, I will have to be sure to take some pictures for everyone once it's done!

I love the small n talls myself as well, though still don't actually have one of my own. I've got too many VK prototypes and what not laying around as it is, so it's hard to justify it! Probably have at least 4-5 vk's and one battery VK in my personal collection now, the hilarious part is, I don't even use half of them for vaping! I'll be using them to power random ass crap around the house LOL. That's what happens when you have too many of them! They're little portable lab power supplies basically, especially the "works" units.

So, my VK arrived yesterday  I knew that I would like the look of it, just from the photos - but they seriously do not do it justice. You have made me one sexy piece of kit @VoltageKeeper - thank you ever so much.

It's quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be, which is great, and I absolutely love the colour. In sunlight it reminds me of a chesterfield sofa - it's a deep, beautifully rich infra-red. At night, in a darker environment, it looks almost black. It's so very sleek. My older brother, who has been an electronics geek pretty much all his life, was suitably impressed by the workmanship.

So you now have a lockable knob @EveryDayAmnesiac - congratulations  :D ..... & I totally agree - there's nothing like finding that sweet spot and locking on. I'm glad I went with the vernier too - and you're right @VoltageKeeper - the top mounting looks totally awesome, and it's very ergonomic. I couldn't be happier with my first VK purchase. :)

The red top-mounted battery VK is going to be sweet! I can't wait to see it.

:peace:

Just got my new Voltage keeper in today and Im loving it. I had high expectations for a power supply that cost this much but im still shocked by the quality compared to my other supplies. Unwavering precision(at least on the display) down to 0.01 volts is really nice and the dial is insanely precise. My only complaint is the cord included was a little heavy for my Hibrid HI but it is insanely light and I have tons of log vape cords at this point.

@VoltageKeeper ok I'm finally ready to get a VK (or 2) for my Underdogs. I'm not sure about the options or process. I'm thinking one Clear/works/blue(V)/yellow(A)/vernier knob. I'm thinking for the second one a battery one. My question: can the battery unit be used pass thru style? Or battery only? Did I miss anything?

Here's what he told me: "You can also disable the battery completely and just run it off DC power like a standard VK. When the battery switch is turned off, for all intents and purposes, it functions as a standard VK, and is powered purely from the DC input."

So yup!

My order with my battery VK should be done very soon, I can't wait! Especially The 2in1 Works VK:cool:

Yep, everything Nick said! Haha. The battery VK has two switches, and the purpose of that second switch is in essence to disable or enable the battery. When the battery is disabled, you can use it like a regular 'ol VK!

You can even charge and use it at the same time, but it takes forever to charge when you do that, and often doesn't charge as fully, so if you know you're planning on using it for extended periods on the battery, it's best to shut it off and let it charge fully before taking it out to go.

Excellent info! Thanks to you both. So now I'm thinking Battery VK first. Do I order by PM or website or ?

Sorry if its been answered but has anyone ran across an external battery pack that can work with the voltage keeper. Preferably 18650 powered but anything would cool.
