Lenny Kravits said it best....."BB, anyone could play a thousand notes and never say what you said in one."

And from Digital Underground: ""Oh I’m free, free, free now… I’m free from your spell" - Free indeed... go on home brotha... go on home. RIP""

I'm kicking myself .... hard.

About 2 years ago BB was coming to play near where I live. I looked up the reviews. There were a good number of complaints from folks who went to the previous recent concerts saying 'BB was spending too much time talking and reminiscing instead of playing' and that his playing was also being adversely affected (I think it said arthritis). I decided not to catch the concert.....and decided I'd wait till he comes back this way again.....

I'm such a schmuck......

I saw him a couple of times way back in my greek theater days, great memories, great outdoor amphitheater. That man really loved his guitar

Loved going to the Greek. So thinking' back, I've seen there:

The Almond Brothers
Joni Mitchell
Dave Mason
Boz Scaggs
Chick Correa
Stanley Clarke
Peter Gabriel
Oingo Boingo
and probably a few others I forgot

Great venue. Like a mini-Hollywood Bowl.

Back in the 70's, a good friend of mine worked in A&R at ABC records. At the time, he was also the road manager for Poco. Reason I'm saying this is because one night, he invited me into a recording session where BB King was working with Chaka Khan when she was with Rufus but that night, it was just her and BB. That was the only time I saw him play.

Different life back then...........

Haha I think we were at at least a few of the same concerts, I had season tickets for most of the '80s. Saw santana three times, dire straits was the very best for me, but so many great shows. I saw dire straits in the early '90s at arco arena in sacramento, that place is a dump and they sucked (in comparison)!

I'm pretty sure I also caught BB at the house of blues one time, the og one in hollyweird

Talk about clubs in Hollyweird, I remember seeing the Doors, Zeppelin, and Frank Zappa at the Whiskey. The Doors was the house band for a bit as was a band called Love with Arthur Lee who made "Hey Joe" popular along with a band called The Leaves.

The Byrds at Pandora's Box. Carol King at The Troubadour.

Man...........I was going to concerts and smaller music venues every damn weekend. Fun times........One of the best venues was The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Not too big.........not too small, but just right.

Funny thing though. I've never been to the House of Blues. My boys were born in 1980, so my concert going days was cut wayyyyyy back when that happened.
