Yes, in @BuzzDanklin 's video they did mention that they forgot to shut it off between hits as planned AND the battery lasted if not the entire video of 20+ minutes of heavy use, almost the entire time. I'm just a simple country cannabis lobbyist from Boulder but from that video, the grasshopper will be more that comptent for a group of my friends to have a session on one battery, and like folks have been saying an extra battery is about what 5% of the purchase price, and pre-orders are getting an extra one for free.

I don't recall if we can use the GH While charging, but I think we will be able to use compact pocketable USB battery power packs for all day on the go enjoyment.

Hmm, then saying it can be used while charging is kind of misleading...maybe I'm the only one that feels that way though. Just seems like using it being able to charge as it is being used as a selling point implies that it at least will trickle charge. Edit: Although I suppose it will at least slow down power consumption when you're using it, so it's still somewhat useful.

Using it while on the charger is not the same as using it while charging. Using while on the charger is called pass-through, and as is true with all vapes in this mode, battery consumption may be slowed down but not stopped. If left unattended or unused for a time while on the charger it will charge. It is an unlikely scenario that a battery will ever be entirely drained while connected to the charger under normal heavy use. One would probably pass out first.

Well, for myself I'm not worried about it. I thought it had pass through charging based on something or other I read at one point, but it not being so doesn't bother me, since batteries are so affordable. I was looking forward to it being able to charge while in use but it's nowhere near a dealbreaker for me, since the battery life had nothing to do with me putting the money down on one.

I completely agree. I charge my Pax once a week whether it needs it or not just so I can be sure it is always ready. In a bad week I might use it 15 times so Grasshopper will still out do that.

I do hope they have a charger base coming or someone confirms safe and full charging from a third party charger.

Too bad the initial battery claim was false. It seemed too good to be true, and it was.

I have prepared for shorter battery life by getting a portable powerbank with three 3400mah 18560s inside.

Portable powerbanks are nice for charging all sorts of devices on the go.

Also, since the GH batteries are cheap I added one extra to my order.

Fun fact:
For the price of one Pax2:
you can get a SS Grasshopper and 20 spare batteries.
or
a Ti Grasshopper and 14 spare batteries
or
two SS Grasshoppers and 1 spare battery

Idk if this helps your reservations but the new charging cable that will be shipped with the production models cuts charging time in half. I am pretty sure that is what Buzz quoted Trevor and Matt as saying. So I would think the time in between pulls would be sufficient to keep the unit charged and going.

I bought this 13,500 mAh battery to run my Extreme when I go camping and such, it's a bit bulky compared to a lot of them I've seen, but it's really sturdy feeling and it has attachments to let it run almost any plug size. I'm just gonna get a bag for it and keep it in my car and carry it around with me to charge my Hopper, if such becomes necessary.

Hello all, I'm new here but have watched this thread and a few others for some time now. I too am a gh preorder so need less to say I'm anxiously waiting like everyone else, well maybe not everyone. Anyway just saying hi and thank you all for the great info spread about FC!

Nitecore and Efest Luc's have both spring-loaded sliders to snap the battery in and also have multi-amp settings, from 500ma up to 2a. They charge just about every battery type, I think the Grasshopper's batteries will charge just like any other 14500/18650/26650 battery.

At least, I hope! Already got them for my ecigs.

eh thats a bit risky, like its been stated theyre not that expensive... + the free one makes 3 for me. Im just going to keep um charged up, I doubt ill really be using it that much where there wont be time to let it sit and charge... again it only takes an hr to fully charge up (supposedly) and they are small so even if one keeps 1 extra on them they should be fine otherwise your use probably calls for a diff vape lol. and for those still worried those portable charges should be fine, when your not using the GH hook it up and go back to your business and itll be charged up in no time

new guy here. been following the thread here for a few days now, but ive known about the grasshopper since the indiegogo campaign when it started. finally placed my pre-order a few days ago, just a regular SS with an extra battery. order 179**. thought about upgrading to ti, mostly for the color, but stuck with a SS to keep it cheap.

all this battery talk lately inspired me to do a quick test. i used a stopwatch and timed in between on/off clicks on buzz's video, this test is under the assumption that the battery was fully charged at the beginning. in the video it seemed like the battery started acting a little funny towards the end, but its a good estimation of what we might expect.

also, buzz's was a preproduction model right?

anyways, from the first click to the battery dying was right about 9 minutes.

they said the battery indicator light started flashing about 7:30 into the test.

for what i need, i think the battery life will be fine. and like everyone has said, extra batteries are cheap, and so are portable solar chargers.

I'm glad someone went to the trouble and timed it all. That seems cool to me, this is going to be my onehitter vape anyway. Using it like that, I bet I could go for at least 3 or 4 hours off a single charge before it was completely dead, just taking 2-3 hits occasionally.
