Vaped Out
I don't think I've seen anything about this, but, does anyone know how it reacts if you decide to change the temp mid session? Does it just go back to it's regular red to blue light cycle? @BuzzDanklin Maybe you could satisfy my curiosity Buzz? I know it's gonna be an almost instantaneous change, I'm just wondering.
Good question

The amount I refresh FC hoping to see a notification from this thread and then hoping I see a post about shipping is kinda sad... I like my new toys and I really want this one lol I think im addicted to receiving things from the mail #Iwantmybox!
I feel that way about the Mighty that's on the way. I can't help but keep tracking it lol. I just set it up to text me notifications now, if only I could do this with my Grasshopper. Lol

I actually asked him just that way back when, and it is indeed seamless. Once it is heated up and going, changing the temp is fairly instantaneous, technically you could even do it mid draw it seems

I find this picture interesting...

What is the small "metallic" object in the bowl on the screen...any ideas?

Looks to me like the upper pcb board.

JiggyJack,

It's real.
Hmm the review states that the GH team plans on doing "minor software upgrades" to the production model...could we possibly see an intelligent personal assistant like Siri???

Ok no but seriously, I hope it's a better battery notification because I don't think we ever heard back about that.

Well I'm wondering if that silicone mouth piece is going to be the same color as the grasshopper you order cuz I'm not sure with the dark gray I want a white one for stealth

General rule of thumb with lithium batteries is to keep them charged, don't over drain them an if significantly depleted, charge them asap (let them cool down if hot first).

Hey just a heads up, you may want to go back over the review just one more time to catch any grammatical errors, I saw quite a few. Honestly, its not a bad pre-production review but I wish it told us more about the Grasshopper as far as your user experience.
thanks for your corrections, iam still working on it, just had to get it posted before the update from Grasshopper. What exactly would you like to see?

Welcome to the forum, can you give us some info on how you got your hands on a pre-production unit?
It was loaned to me, to do some testing and put out more information and my first impressions/experience with the Grasshopper and provide feedback for Grasshopper. Sadly I do have to return the unit but I am loving it so far!

You kind of hint at how the hits are (ie. "kind of hot but not a problem..") but don't really go any further. I think it'd be nice to hear your thoughts on the overall experience with the unit rather than explaining what it is and what it is made for... that stuff we all know. Are they smooth hits? How is the flavor? Have you found a preferred way of vaping with it? (starting on 3 and slowly turning the dial up) Maybe try varried grinds?
I'm not sure how long you have it to try out or how long you've had but that's some stuff I think would be nice to hear. Im sure theres plenty of other stuff I'm not thinking of

Right there in the vapor path?

I didn't think it was in the vapor path. I thought the picture shows the clip which makes it the part that goes over the battery with the clicker and connects to the body at the opposite end of the mouthpiece.

Maybe I'm seeing it wrong on my phone.

RE: avb shots from the dispensary video
Perhaps I can shed some light on this - it's really an absurd green before being put in the chamber (these being dispensary employees, after all, they brought some pretty choice cannabis), and she had only taken a couple pulls at a very low temperature setting (she doesn't like vaping at too high a temp). You'll notice that's why there's no shot of her exhaling - at such a low temperature, the vapor was very thin, and didn't show up well on camera.

So while the bud wasn't fully toasted, she knew that it was 'adequately' toasted considering her usage.

I blew up the picture of the oven below. It almost looks like that's a screen seated on top of something, it looks like the screen has openings to allow those prongs to come through? :hmm:

hi vapebuddy 13,

I have had the unit for about a week so I am still playing around. I am trying more things everyday, varying grinds, amounts of herbs, temps, different inhalations, etc and I will do my best to update. I could go on for days about this vape but I am trying to hold back a little until I get a production unit. If you have something specifc in mind you would like me to try, let me know and I'll be happy to Try something out. I think the hits are fairly smooth, not as smooth as the Crafty or Mighty because those have cooling units and the Grasshopper does not but for such a short vapor path I expected it to be hotter than it is. Of course if you take a really huge long draw then it may be harsher but to avoid that I just take shorter draws, maybe 8-10 seconds slowly. Its a different style of vaping but I really like it so far because it's so fast, you can just take a hit the and there throughout the day or sit down and do the whole load. The first few hits on any vape are always the best and most flavorful and its no different with the Grasshopper. I think the vapor tastes great from the Grasshopper but it may not have as much flavor as the Crafty/ Mighty but it tastes pure and uunadultered. I get a cloud on setting 3.5 with the very first hit, and the taste is great! So far my perfected vape method with the Grasshopper is setting 3-4, finely ground herb ( I use a Homegrown Cali Crusher so it's pretty fine) but I have been experipenting with grinds and different amounts. I have been sticking with one temp at a time because I'm keeping track battery life but I like the idea of starting low and finishing HIGH... I have busted some herb up roughly with my fingers and thrown it in there and it effecily vapes it but more surfice area is always better in my expereince. Buzz also agreed that it didnt matter how much you pack in the chamber, you will get good results either way. The convection heat just does a great job, unlike conduction where your herb needs to be packed more for best results. I just click it on, take a hit, click off and take another hit to clear it and repeat. I will let you all know more when I have had more time with the unit. I'm glad to answer your questions, or at least I'll try to that is.

I'm sorry if I missed it, how did you get your unit, did you ever give the GrassHopper guys any money from backing.

Yes that is the bottom of the herb chamber with the screen and I'll try to find out more info on it. As far as I know it's held in place with those prongs and it's not necessary to remove the screen because so far it doesn't get dirty and nothing st i cos to it either. There is talk about a tool that will allow you to remove the screens but that may just be for the mouth pieces' screen and that screen screws out on the same threads inside the mouthpiece that the Grasshopper body\chamber threads into. They are very ridged screens

@Just Justin with such a fine grind, and those prongs in the screen, there's no herb falling through into the heater below the screen for you?

Something that happens to the elevape (so works great with a fine grind), but it can be opened up to clean fully.

...and how have those battery tests been going by the way?

Hey Shit Snacks,
I am very familiar with the Elevape SV so I know exactly what your talking about. That was a concern of mine too with herb dust and particles falling through the screen and into the heater but I asked Trevor if it was a problem if some did get past the screen and he said it wouldn't hurt the unit. I may put a fine screen in the bottom of my production Grasshopper just to put my mind at ease but I really don't think its an issue. Inhaling regularly with the Grasshopper would pull some of the dust out anyway, at least in theory.
I doubled up my screens on the Elevape with the finest screen possible and nothing gets through that, so I think the same could be done here but I cant recommend anything. I only did that with the Elevape to prevent anything from falling on the sensor and the other breath sensor below the coil that cannot really be opened up to be cleaned because I think that breath sensor could be potentially sensitive but I don't think the Grasshopper has anything that sensitive directly under that screen.
So my battery tests are going well and they seem to be consistent so far, but I need do more. Right now I've only tested the Grasshopper on setting 3.0 to 3.5 on the dial, and I click it on and off each hit, with the on time being about 10 seconds at a time and I've been getting a good 20-30 clicks per charged battery with this method. I think that's fairly good considering how small these batteries are and its not as big of a deal because you can just pop in another charged battery if it dies, unlike other vapes where that's not an option. I will be trying other methods and I will let you know

Did you mean rigid screens, @Just Justin? Thanks for the info :)

yes, rigid.
