Discontinued Loto Labs Lux (formerly Evoke)

Looks like Loto Labs is on a tight spot with this vape...

Hoping they'll find a way to manage the situation I would personally prefer getting the vape without battery rather than just getting a discount or have it without replacement parts.

At least an 18650 is something you can get at any online store for a few bucks, that's what they prolly thought upon going with this solution.

I know the contract may have changed and I agree backers should get some kind of extra compensation for the risk but never forget this kind of investment is always risky and shouldn't be done without considering the possibility of loosing the funds in the process. Anyways I'm on your side and as investors you have the right to be outraged about it and keep demanding based on the given expectations, just take into account it's not as easy at the other side of the desk.

Evoke would have been better served by asking for twice as much money up front with indiegogo. If that meant they would sell 50% less units, they would still raise the same amount of funds. Then they could send out vapes that will actually vaporize out of the box, which I think is what is so unsatisfying about this.

They did, https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/484887

Didn't do too hot, the funders were themselfs so it pretty much tanked.

This whole situation is starting to depress me. The comments on IndieGoGo are getting increasingly hostile with no answer from Neeraj. Nobody knows what we are getting, cores, wicks, bullets etc . . . the stretch goals are out it looks like as well. Why does a flower vape need a "wick" anyways . . . Why so many parts? I thought induction would make a simpler device . . . :ugh:

Well my e-mail has provoked some replies. According to Matthew Greenfield the stretch goals have not been abandoned, just delayed while the mouthpiece is being redesigned. Also, it appears the battery and charger decision is under review and they say they are working on a solution with their manufacturing partner. This communication was nice and helps me be less depressed about this situation. At least someone is listening.

Yep, I suspected that they were listening. I believe everything will be fine, as far as possible. thanks for sharing :)

More info from Matthew Greenfield. I had a question about why a flower vape needed a "wick". The answer is that it is also what is called a susceptor which is a piece of magnetic metal responsible for taking the magnetic energy and turning it into heat. So it will perform 2 functions in the oil/wax/e-liquid versions and just be a susceptor in the loose leaf version. He also stated they are working on a video today that shows how to load and use Evoke and they hope to have it out by next week. :)

I got some info regarding the battery, It's a 1500 mAh did not say the brand, But i was told more detailed information regarding that will be up shortly.

You should also ask them if only LiFePo4's work, or if all 18650's will work. The majority of 18650's people have are 3.7V, where as the LiFePo4's are 3.2V

Am I the only one who thinks 1500 mah is kinda sub-par for a 18650?

My vtc4's are 2100 and my Samsung 25r's are 2500. So 1500 is kinda low in my eyes.

The LiFePo4s don't typically have as high of a mAh rating as the lithium-ions.

Guys, just received an update via email!

ImageProxy.mvc

To Our Founding Supporters,

Our Presale is Moving from Indiegogo to a Pre-Order Reservation System

We received an email this week from Indiegogo informing us that we no longer comply with their updated terms of service and we are now in violation of their new terms for being "drug paraphernalia." As a company, we are committed to creating the highest quality devices that will create pure vapor. We intend that our dry herb and concentrate versions only be used in regions where this is medically accepted or recreationally legal.

This came as a shock-given that we've been huge fans of the Indiegogo platform-we'd like to thank Indiegogo for connecting us with some great founding supporters of Evoke last year.

While we disagree with Indiegogo's decision to end our InDemand Presale, we remain committed to bringing this revolutionary product to the market and will now be taking reservations for Evoke pre-orders at www.EvokeVape.com. This will allow customers to reserve one of our first production Evokes, in advance of the general public. We will be implementing the new reservation system shortly on our website and will send out an update when it is ready.

Batteries and Chargers

We'd also like to announce that, for our Indiegogo supporters, we are going to include a battery and charger with every Evoke unit. We understand that our Indiegogo supporters feel that Evoke should work out of box, and we want to fulfill that expectation.

Induction Cores

Although all Evokes will be compatible with all three induction cores, Indiegogo supporters will continue to receive the induction core that they specified at the time of their initial order (e-Liquid, Dry Herb, or Concentrate). In the case of supporters who donated toward multiple units, they will receive multiple complete units, each coming with the single induction core they chose. Induction cores will include the complete capsule system with all necessary accessories in order to use it.

Each Indiegogo supporter will receive:

  • 1 Evoke Unit
  • 1 Induction Coil (e-Liquid, Dry Herb or Concentrate)
  • 1 Battery and Charger
  • 3 Capsule Systems (3 glass vials + 3 susceptors)

Stretch Goals

We want everyone to know that stretch goals are still definitely happening. We have been quiet on talking about these goals because of the mouthpiece re-design. We cannot create a water-pipe attachment until we have the final specs for the mouthpiece. It is a cart-before-the-horse situation. Custom embossing of Evoke is a cosmetic addition to the product and will be the very last thing that we do prior to shipping.

New Video of Evoke in Action!

Finally, we've had some requests to see Evoke in action, from loading to vaping. In this video we demonstrate Evoke vaping concentrates:

Here

Please continue to direct all questions or comments to hello@lotolabs.com. Thank you again for all your support as we bring Evoke ever closer to reality.

Peace, love and vaping,

Funny, I was just being argued with in the GH thread about this. Nice to see Loto Labs step up to the plate and give us a battery and charger!!! Way to go Neeraj!!! I had faith that they were working on this after speaking with Matthew via e-mail and it seems my feelings were not misplaced.

I most certainly expect delays, Not sure if it's been mentioned here, But it's been said the prototypes won't running so well at the Cannabis cup, If that's the case i'd rather them improve on it before us backers get them.

I almost posted a message asking why there indigogo stopped, But someone beat me to it with an answer. I find what indigogo has done to be %100 fucked, They CAN NOT prove what it's for at all. I know there are plenty of people that vape various 50 state legal herbs, Also there is 50 state legal dabbing waxes available, Not to mention the fact Marijuana is NOT by definition a drug therefor the Evoke can't be considered for drug use, And there is the little fact of religions use marijuana under federal protection, So indigogo is flat out being offensive to my religion, Now i know i can be offensive too but i leave religion out of it.

I also noticed there is another 3 in 1 vaporizer being crowed funded on indigogo as i type this message, It's a portable called the Rize, And hellow lawsuit from Vapir on the name, So why isn't the Evoke up as well? Did us backers out of anger get it shutdown? I know some backers said they reported them.

I wonder what wood choices us backer will get. :hmm: I doubt we can get exotics, My guess is something like Epic Maple, Cherry and Walnut.

I gotta say i am glad they decided to send a charger and battery.

I hope the LiFePO4's that come with this thing are better than the garbage Tenergy's that the original Thermovape revolution came with......

(Sigh)... from:

3 p.m. — The thirstiest vape manufacturer of all time has landed at LAX and texts me that he will be here for my 4 p.m. vape. Oh, did I forget to mention one company, Evoke, insisted on flying their vaporizer prototype down from San Francisco, just so I could try it? The CEO is in an Uber, on his way.

3:52 p.m.
— THE DOORBELL RINGS.

3:54 p.m.
— Neeraj Bhardwaj is here. He’s wearing a golf cap and a bright-green polo shirt. He is very loud.

4 p.m.
— Bhardwaj whips out his teal laptop and starts delivering his pitch. Why is he shouting? Does he know we are the only two people here? I suppose he is used to giving this pitch in a roomful of potential investors. “This pitch deck has raised us a million dollars!” he bellows.

enhanced-29977-1432796742-1.jpg

Loto Labs

4:02 p.m. — Bhardwaj shows me the Evoke vaporizer, which apparently uses magnetic induction instead of the rinky-dink coil in every other vape. 3/5 pot leaves. Bhardwaj claims coil vaporizers are liable to explode in your face. That sounds a little fishy but when I google it later it does turn out to be a thing. Scary!

4:05 p.m. — Bhardwaj seems to think the best thing about the Evoke is that instead of putting hash oil directly onto a coil, which can be difficult to clean and needs to frequently be replaced, you load hash oil into capsules that contain a metal susceptor and can easily be switched out. I tell him I find loading my own hash oil in general to be kind of gross and messy. As if on cue, he drips hash oil onto my coffee table. “Sorry!” he yells.

4:06 p.m. — He’s telling me about how he and his team wanted the Evoke to look different from other pens on the market. The pen is fat and thick and angular, like a trapezoid on acid, with fake wood paneling on the sides.

Me: What were you trying to get it to look like?
Bhardwaj: Something that’s not a penis.

I realize as soon as he says this that the Evoke does look quite a bit like a penis.

4:08 p.m. — Finally, time to take a hit. I try to press the button, but it won’t go. Bhardwaj tells me to use only one fingernail and to press it in a very specific spot. I accidentally turn the thing off, but neither of us are sure how I did that. He assures me the next prototype will have a better button.

4:09 p.m. — With Bhardwaj holding the button for me, I inhale. The vapor tastes kind of plastic. Not clean. Hit two is more tasteless.

4:15 p.m. — More shouty sales pitch stuff. “We’re the only ones with a capsule system! We’re the only one with Bluetooth — you control the heat setting from your phone! We’re the only ones with a patent!”

None of that sounds very impressive to me at this point. I am not high.
