Yeah, it sounds par for the course. Also, he made sure to note that the production screen will probably have a different, hopefully improved, flow to it. But it gives us a general idea, something more substantial than imagination.

AKA we haven't started yet :/ bleh hopefully their production/shipping productivity is killer

So if they already know they won't be done shipping original backers by the end of the month, then they obviously know they won't ship any of the pre-orders this month. Perhaps they should update the invoices to reflect as much?
It's kinda shady to keep people believing in false hopes.

I would imagine they havent updated the status because of how many people that have and would rather keep everyone working on GH stuff. I feel like they probably dont have a system set up to easily change bulk status' by dates or whatever and would probably take a long time to change everyones...
I emailed Trevor about shipping as well and apparently they were missing the finalized version of one part which was delaying shipping bc they didnt wanna make and send out units there werent 100% up to date but they're currently getting plenty of that part in(supposedly have everything else ready) so they can actually get moving... I would guess the update will include some up that

So my expected April shipment, was pushed to early to mid May, and now will probably be pushed to June... These guys might have some great ideas as far as vapor goes, but they really kind of suck at everything else in my opinion...
I just had to dbl check Trevor's email, I guess he didn't say early to mid, I just assume, and as we all know ass-u-me...

Yeah they seem to be focusing on getting em ready and making sure they're of utmost quality. Better to focus on that more than anything else, and yeah they're still so small. Eventually they'll be able to dedicate more towards website and order status etc, general customer service will have to be put in place of course... Mine still says April haha

Nope, it was one part is V.9 (V1.0 is the finalized parts)
"We are getting more made daily and will be rolling shipping but a shortage in one v1.0 part or another has kept us from starting to ship to backers. We have all the parts for some time but some might be slightly dated. They work fine but we don't want to ship those because they are slightly different from the final versions and we cannot risk shipping any bad units."
I mean it's a little saddening but at the same time their slowness in all this will (hopefully) result in less issues with these units that are often common in fresh products. They seem to be treading carefully to ensure the best possible outcome and least amount of problem units so that's how im looking at it #glasshalffull

So it sounds like the bottleneck parts are the heater and also the screen and charging cable components. The heater sounds like its a dribble where they are trying to ramp up. On the charging cable, if there is a pcb change that could definitely be the holdup since that can easily take a month or two. The good news on pcbs is once the production parts are done they should have thousands of them available in a single production delivery.
Either way, there are something like 3000+ hoppers for backers that need to be shipped before the preorders can start shipping. If they were getting to 300 heaters a week shipping and they've been waiting for the charger parts to be ready, maybe they'll have 1000 or so ready to ship once those parts come in....by the end of May. Optimistically. Then I imagine if heater yields improve they could ship the other 2000 backer-hoppers in June and then start shipping pre-orders in July. Again, given the history that's an optimistic case but one that I hope plays out nonetheless. My order numbers are 14169 and 14604 (toward the end of the backers) so if that plays out maybe I'll have a hopper in my hand by July 4.
I am so ready for the first GHs to ship so we can close this thread and start talking about shipped units.

Whatever part they're waiting on is not a heater. In fact, I would say it's safe to say by this point they certainly must have more heaters than they need to start shipping *some* of the earliest IGG backers by now.

Yeah he made it sound like the one part (which they finally are have ready and are getting more of) was the only thing now that is causing any further delay... should have added in my last post the last part of the email...

@Ratchett I think we're on the same page. Heater production is ramping up... I thought I heard 300 for that largest order size which is why I was wild-ass-guessing they must have close to 1000 heaters on hand by now. As for that "finalized version of one part" I was speculating/hoping it was the pcb. Hoping because they can probably fit ~50-100 pcbs on a production board so if they do a production order of 50-100 boards they'll have all the boards they need for a lot of hoppers.
But its all rampant speculation to kill time while we wait for the update.
Here's one of my Kickstarter fails that still won't fail (think I posted this ~200 pages ago so forgive the repeat):
Behold the WALdok. The plug-in speaker/charger dock for the iPhone. I gave them $59 in 2011 - this was pre-lightning connector. The last update was April 30, 2015 and they are now trying to nail down UL certification before they send it to Apple for their certification. If they are lucky maybe they'll ship something before connector changes again to USB-C and they are forced to do another redesign.
