Team NO SLEEP!
Don't miss it, few places like this are left in the world that hand out whitebread instead of napkins.

For those not in Bama, they ship em all cooked up and packaged on dry ice! I have been getting my fix this way for over a decade and during my time in the midwest.

what blessings God has given me!
You're blessed. Both of my daughters moved out this year. All the way across the country. It was a good 25 years of raising them and wifey and me are missing them. Best advice is to spend the most time you can with yours. My only regret was not doing more stuff with them, but we think we did a knockup job as parents overall.

Hello and good morning you all! I hope all is well out there, its nice and sunny down this way starting out kinda cool at 41 and should reach 80 later today, talk about nice. So I drove to Birmingham Thursday morning, traffic was ok nothing serious, no back ups, no problems. The procedure went well, very well according to the surgeon. I have been dealing with an abscess issue, have had surgery for it 6 or 6 times now I think. The problem has been finding the cause of it and finally this last time she found it and feels she has fixed it!!! I am really trying to be positive about it but having had 6 ops before with no success its hard to think that after 3 years that its solved. Got to be back in Bham for a follow visit this coming Friday at 9am, like I said the drive isnt bad just 4 hours is all. Ok so I get to the clinic and I start to look around and this one is a little different than any I had ever been too, most clinics/hospitals I have been too are all white, walls, ceilings cabinets everything, not this one its grey/grey, hmmm I was completely thrown by this, maybe I am crazy but not at all what I am used too. I worked for a hospital for a few years back, was in maintenance and painted alot, painted alot of white. I get back to the exam room and there is 4 doors, the one to enter and exit, a bathroom door, a door that I found out later was a closet and this one

I wasnt able to eat after midnight the night before so was really hungry that morning, they some people cant eat after surgery but I am not that guy, thanks to @FlyingLow Dreamland was right on time, only a couple miles from the clinic. @Ed's TnT I haven't talked to you in a long time my friend! I'm sorry to hear about your issues as of late with the vertigo and the recurring abscess. If I can be of any assistance please let me know.

I do have a question for you, bud. @NickDlow mentioned to me that he has used your stems for his Underdogs. Do your E-Nano stems work in the UD or are the stems measured differently?

Ed,

Thank you!!!! I was very happy when my MP arrived. I was kind of bummed that it did not have your name stamped into the MP like was done on the WonG I already own. I got over it very fast once I was able to look at it closer and finally give the MP a go. Thanks for the classy card and pipe cleaner too as a little something extra. Again I look forward to doing more business with you in the future. Cheers!

Hello and good morning everyone! I hope all is well out there! Been doing quite a bit of recovery, not much at all the first few days just laying around, kinda have fallen off the diet kick this last week, kinda hard not to do much and try not to eat, well did alot of nothing with a lot of eating for the most part for the better part of a week. Toward the end of the week I got in the shop a little here a little there trying to get caught up. I have found out that my dizziness has been caused by my abscess problem I want to say. I am no doctor by any stretch but seems I started getting dizzy about a month prior to surgery, been a week and a day since surgery and my dizziness is just about all gone, now I have a slight effect once in a while but nothing like it was. I am thinking that the abscess that caused the infection in my body had to be causing my dizziness. I have heard of this happening to others before and it makes sense to me, maybe its coincidence maybe its not! I am finding that after having gone to the specialist that I have been doing the healing part all wrong with the past surgeries and that is probably why I have had this ongoing issue for quite some time. I remember asking her the day before the surgery, what makes you so sure that you can fix it, I have had this procedure done many times with no luck, she says, "Thats why you are here, I am the specialist and this is what I do!" So I am working on a whole new way of healing and feel I am on the right track. Still tender, got a hellova wound, am thinking from time to time playing a game in my head, hmmm you could hide a deck of cards in there, you could almost put a sandwich in there, lol. I am back out in the shop more than I have been in a while and it feels good. Even had my oldest out there with me. He will be 14 in Nov. He will have his drivers license at 16, I told him he could learn how to do some work in the shop on the lathe and in a couple years he could have a heckova savings account for a vehicle of his own. His eye lit up and he said, "Oh yeah!" He has been in the shop with me a little getting the hang of how the lathe works and doing some freestyle, he really digs that and is excited which is cool to see, hes watching youtube videos and has a few things he wants to do. Here he is with his youngest bro watching on, wont be long for him!

He wants to turn an old school bottle so we have to pick up a soda this soon! Ok, I am sorry you all for such a delay with the custom stuff, I have had you guys put off for a while and I really hate that, I do, that isnt how I do things and I apologize! I will be back out in the shop most of the rest of the day and the ones coming trying to get a handle on all that I have not been able too!

@Jokermachine My man, I am sorry for not addressing your post the last time I posted was not right and I should have! You are truly right in what you have said and I wish I had more time than I do, there is never enough and they need so much more than I am able to give. Glad my oldest is excited about being in the shop, might get more time with him! Thanks for your post!

@SSVUN~YAH All they gave me was white bread bro, was sopping bread, plate comes out with 4 slices and a small cup of BBQ sauce for you to dip and eat, watch out! I feel I am on the mend now and feel good about it!

@Seren Thanks so much I appreciate you and look forward to getting that work done for you when I can!

@Reflections Great news, great news, thanks for the post! Those ribs were freaking great the next day, my boys couldnt eat them all so I had a few for breakfast the day after.

@subway13029 How bout it my man, I will have to send ya PM now my man, I have one sweet Bloodwood Hammer Stem left already made if ya want it, will PM ya now bro! Thanks for the inquiry!

@virtualpurple I hope all is well and you have been doing well! Ah yes my man, my Nano stems do work with the UD, the stems go around the heatport and not into it. You have to hold the stem over the heatport and draw long and slow, once done remove from the UD. Works well for many and should you also. Let me know what I need to do bro!

@ichibaneye I am sorry to hear about the stem not being branded, its just too small overall for the brand to fit. I hope you understand and really am glad to hear you are happy with it after all! Just holla at me when you wanna do anything else and I am on it!

Great pictures Ed. Reminds me of my '73 junior high wood shop days. Saw a few bats go flying off the lathe. Funny, all we made in wood shop was pipes, bats, ashtrays, and a few boxes to put all of it in! That is so cool being able to have your boys working in the shop with you. Kids are the best. (when behaving!)

I'm still recovering as well. One thing I've learned and keep fighting is to have patience. Laying around and not working is SO boring. But when I try doing something I end up overdoing it and getting exhausted. I'm also eager for the Lily stem but please take your time.
And show more Major pics. Finding someone to take my girl on walks so she could move back in has made a huge difference. I'm sure Major helps you the same way.

Ed, it is great to hear that you are finally in control of this health problem! Your system has probably been poisoned by it for some time now, so it's no wonder it gave you dizziness too. With this poison out of your system and your new view on healthy living, it will be no time before you're back and in better shape than ever before.

I second the emotion of more Major pics, btw.....

And it's great seeing the boys out in the shop. Wow they are getting big! I told you that oldest of yours could be some help.... nothing like starting them out young with a good work ethic. Crack that whip. :whip:

Ed, it's great to hear that you're feeling better. An abscess can be a pernicious thing especially when it's hiding within the body. Hope your healing from here is smooth.

Glad to hear you'll be back in the shop soon, too. Looking forward to seeing what you make next. :-D

Take care and don't rush yourself. I know you must be anxious to get busy again. My brother had a problem with dizziness but it was the little hairs inside his ear were all out of whack. It took him 6 weeks to get back to normal. He had to take a month off work. Also the dizziness made him sick to his stomach.

Those are great pictures.

Whoooooweeeee been getting back at it one job at a time, got a couple custom orders out this morning, going for a couple three more tomorrow. Getting back on the diet again too, took out running/walking for a 1/2 hour yesterday evening, its getting hot down here and being as hot natured as I am, have got to be sweating out some serious toxins! Been trying to get by on 1000 calories or less a day, oh its tough tough stuff, heck I can put away some freaking calories and never look back. Trying to drink a lot of water, yall dont know how hard that is down here in the south, dont know how many of yall drink sweet tea, you aint from the south unless ya drink it and unsweetened tea is just awful, id just soon not and drink water instead. I bowl a big pot of water, when it comes to a boil, I drop a couple Lipton tea bags in it, let boil for bout 5 minutes, have a gallon pitcher with I wanna say 2 or more cups of sugar, down here we just put in what tastes right and two scoops from the black scoop that stays in the sugar jar is just what it takes, pour the boiling tea into the pitcher and stir, its got to be boiling, melts the sugar instantly and gives it that taste that you cant get if the tea is cold, put it in the fridge til its good and cold, thats how you do sweet tea and thats what the south is all about! Have been drinking it since I was old enough to taste I suppose, not drinking it is tough! In between jobs I am working with my oldest on some neat projects in the shop, we are working on a cube inside a cube, its a nifty piece when its all said and done, our first attempt wasnt so great, was sure looking great until we drilled the last hole and thats when its went to crap, my boy was let down, he had to go to his moms and wanted so much to try again. I explained thats what cool about tomorrow, I really enjoyed the time we spent that afternoon and that we could do it again the next day we have the opportunity. He agreed and a day or two later he came up with another neat idea that we are going to work on this afternoon hopefully. We have to get some more lumber for the cube thing this afternoon but over the weekend he got an old style glass soda from the old mercantile a town over. Its over 150 years old and sell the best thick sliced apple wood smoked bacon, yall remember those old glass sodas, wow what a taste and cold what you talking bout! He was like you think we could turn one of these, I was like why heck yeah, why not, thats easy peasy! He and his grandfather go to this town over every Saturday morning, they have an old farmers market/flea market where folks sell stuff, I told him that wooden soda bottle and the cube in a cube might be good sellers. We could get some cool coke stickers to label the wooden bottles, Dr. pepper, and who knows, might be a hit! Once we leave the lumber store we are going by the local 4H, they have mentioned wanting to join so we are going to get some info, aint nothing wrong with 4H, its great stuff that teaches boys things that they will use and remember the rest of their lives. Might be showing off a prize winning farm animal a year from now!

After the run it was time to sit down for a few

He'll be 5 months old Wednesday!

Oh yeah, got the baseball card of my boy today, got the ball and card display last week, the ball is in place and the card will be very soon, he is going to trip out this afternoon!!!

@SSVUN~YAH Thanks my man, I appreciate you!

@Jokermachine Aint that a trip bout shop, we done alot of the same dang thing! Yeah having the boys in the shop is really nice, been a lot of time out there without them when I should have been elsewhere with them. Making up for it now yall, aint going to let a day get by without telling them how special they are to me!

@Aezhenn I am glad you like the pics of my boys in the shop, they are so much fun to be with and yes my oldest is learning quite fast! I cant wait to see what he does with himself, he is a great kid, he will surely be an amazing man! Not sure will know the true feelings of the pieces you sent me bro, things are on rocky ground, seems the past is never past to some folks, no matter the holes you dig out of, the hills you climb, the bridges you cross, I just keep on stepping!

@little maggie Hello, thanks for posting have been wondering about ya, yeah you can see Major is getting in on the recovery process and well as diet, he weighs 50lbs at 5 months, hes a beast! Hang in there with me on the Lily, gotta get to redesign and then finished piece, hope soon!

@momofthegoons You are spot on with all your thoughts! I get a little dizzy sensation once in a while but nothing like before, hoping to put it behind me for good! Hope you like the pics and cant wait to show you all the bottle he turns out!

@caphector Hello my man, you are most assuredly on my list to turn out, what you got will be fun as it will be the first and am sure it wont be the last if all goes well! Thanks for the kind words and opportunity!

@CarolKing Thank you my good friend, thank you! I too have something that needs to get done for you also, if all goes well this week might get ya out by the end of the week! Hang in there with me!

@stickstones You got it chief, might be a pricey one at that!

Been trying to get by on 1000 calories or less a day,
Ed that's not enough calories.... add about 200 more. But not carbs! ;) And stay away from that sugar! That stuff is the biggest poison we have on this planet. Mimics cocaine in our brain.... no wonder we want it so much! But good on you for getting back to work on the diet/running/wood working. It's great to hear.

And that Major is adorable. What a good little buddy for you and the boys!

You'd best be showing us a pic of that woodworking your son is doing. Hey... how about putting some sort of waterproof finish inside and out and selling them as vases?

So good to hear things are finally starting to get 'right.' :D

@momofthegoons Well 1000-1200 I am doing my best to stay around that number best I can. You right sugar is bad bad, that and bacon, rrrrrrrrr aint a burger or a sandwich without a few strips of bacon! Glad you like the pics of Major, got to get him a kiddy pool the next time I am at the Walmart, he needs his own watering hole! You know ill be showing off his work here, thats a given! You know they make these cool glass inserts that you can use inside the wood like the piece above as a vase, not bad price for them at all, thanks for the thought! I am really just letting him do what he wants til he gets the hang of it, hes going online and looking at youtube, hes really having a good time, its great to see him interested!

Haha was just thinking the same thing :p 1000 calories is def not enough, even if you're tiny... I would imagine it should be up towards 1700 at least.

but glad to see you're feeling better!

@vapebuddy13 hmmm what do you all recommend, I dont know much about dieting, just now getting serious, I am pushing 223 at my last weigh in week before last.
Most men need around 1800 - 2000 calories a day to diet IF THEY ARE ACTIVE. You seem to have the activity part down, lol. Just keep away from the carbs and sugar and you should do fine. And that includes being able to eat bacon. If you are sticking to mostly proteins and fruits/veggies I think the weight will start to peel off.

Tell you what Ed.... get a glass liner in one of those bottles and your son has his first customer. ;) Might give him the incentive to keep going if he sees he can get a little green in his pocket... Just hit me up and let me know when it happens.

all about calories in vs calories out. You want to find out how many calories your body needs for the day (normally based off age, weight, build type etc.) then you wanna factor in your daily activity... http://www.muscleforlife.com/healthy-meal-planning-tips/ explains a general way to calculate #'s
Id say most men need 1800-2000 in general but thats more excluding activity factors... depending on bf% and amount of physical activity I would say around 2000 calories would be a decent place to be. and of course type of food plays a big role too.

btw reading your morning posts are very enjoyable, its like a mini-series
