Piece looks sweet :) I'll get it towards the end of June for sure. I'm getting ready to go on vaca so need to save every penny lol:2c:
Same here! Gonna hold off for now since I have the mini pillar. I do need another 18mm female piece in my collection though so I will definitely grab it within a month or two :D Have fun on your vay-cay man!

While it is nice to see them trying...when I take a closer look at the pictures of the piece mentioned above it seems not see well made... Just my two cents. Everything seems to be of balance or so it seems.

I'm really digging his new stem design with the ring around the reinforcement and the ring just above the cans. Real clean looking. Steven should absolutely make a double matrix ash catcher!!!! He obviously has the means/materials, and have you ever even heard of one?! I think that would be awesome, and he can design it with the FC186 in mind.

I found a piece the other day similar to that first one steven is working on

and this is a knockoff of this new tornado rig that Smoke Cartel has had a boner for for a few weeks now. Really glad I found a fake as this seemed like the easiest piece to copy ever. Both of these from the same seller, Ephanglassware.

Yeah, I'd sip that tornado rig. We talked about it last year on the cheap quality glass thread, quite a few people bought one. I think it was called the D20-Q or something like that.

I bought one off a fellow member of this site who didn't have the lung capacity for it. I got the piece, and flipped it on the classifieds less than 24 hours later.

Requires massive amount force to get it going, doesn't really vortex very well. It's a cool fun piece, but better suited to combustion than vaporizing

Wow crazy! Smoke Cartel made it seem like this was a brandy new concept. Thanks for the info, guess I can take it out of my cart ;)

Here's some new stuff that Steven is working on.

He also wants to know which of the following two you guys like better?

Clear with the slits gets my vote!

The new torus looks like it functions better but those damn large holes won't stack bubbles enough to "unicycle" the water when using a vape. There should be 20 slits or 20 smaller holes. Not 6-8 large holes.

BAM. Thoughts? Maybe a splashguard? Maybe make it even taller? Maybe I should just stop? I don't know! I would love to see some more creativity on our end make it into production rather than just knock off pieces. Especially because so many of us have come to understand the abilities of the glass blowers more and what is possible, rather than handing them a picture of a Fab Egg or Vertigo Pillar recycler and hoping it functions properly (and I know CCG has done a pretty great job with eggs, surprisingly).

That AC is going to have a lot of issues with water coming out of the AC and going into the bong then having to top off the AC with water after every use or every other use.

clear slits, HC can be chuggy

Not only chuggy, but too much drag. I had no interest in this piece with the HC, now you have my attention with the slitted perc.

Noted.

I like the taller one but I also don't really like honeycomb percs. I also wish the "swiss cheese" part came down a litter lower like the piece that Milky posted. Cheers y'all

The fab part comes down to roughly the same level as the mothership straight fab which it is copied from.

Also echoing that the double matrix ashcatcher is a waste of time as is any ashcatcher which bubbles too much (such as fritted ashcatchers).

My vote is DEF for the clear slitted straight fab.

That blue looked really tacky to me (I was just hoping/assuming the blue HC was cheaper for them to use while prototyping?)

I really want the straight fab, but the blue HC was giving me 2nd thoughts.

The clear slitted one looks much better to me :)

@MilkyMondays ,
As far as I can tell, the only way to make a stereo ash catcher would be to make it essentially the same as a full size stereo rig, but knock off the base, and add on the downward facing joint.

It could be cool, but it would weigh a fair bit, and would make any piece its on tip over...

Here's some new stuff that Steven is working on.

So the Torus looks slightly more refined on the neck and the perc is different as well. In any event it looks like it works with a quartz banger. The old design 100% would not function using this setup. Nice to see the improvements were made to make this more like the original mothership. Also instead of cylindrical can its got a slight hourglass shape.

I asked steven to take a video of the straight fab with a banger as well.

The shorter, clear slitted version, please! I wouldn't mind some colors on the mouthpiece, though China colors are usually boring

I've liked a few colored pieces from China,
I've got a black/white mini tube, a fire & ice style mini rig, and a virus rig.

And I do like the black/white lip wraps I've seen.

It's just those uninspired uses of those exact same shades of green/blue/amber that are boring to me.

Hell, I've seen plenty of cool heady pipes on dhgate, but they all have built in bowls, not GonGs...

TL/DR:
I completely agree with you :D

EXACTLY! Is there some sort of barrier (Price, import, or something else) to Chinese glass groducers laying hands on some slyme or purple rain or other colors that we typically see in USA work? Lip wrap and a ring around the glass base are definitely subtle enough they don't make it feel too gas station headstore status

And what does everyone think on taller vs shorter can on the straight fab tube? I'm a bigger fan of the shorter one that everythingshazy posted

I've got my unicorn!

Matrix pillar bubbler has landed :science:

Matrix pillar had landed :D:rockon:
Here's a couple of quick water test Gifs :)

Normal speed, "normal" water level:
4fe4c1411f06db5f932f3c502a7a9a97.gif

The water level here is completely filling the lower matrix chamber, while keeping the dry chamber empty.

Seems to be perfect for getting full function with very little drag.

you wouldn't get the full pillar action with much less water, but it would definitely still function well if you wanted to drop the water level a little bit lower.

Slo-mo, higher water level:
8032522435927163ab110ab28ec1feab.gif

This was with maybe 1cm of water in the dry chamber.
With this much water you get more bubbling happening out of the top of the pillars.
It adds a bit of drag as there more water to move around, but it's still pretty low drag - less drag than the mini pillar.

First impressions after a water test is that I'm goddamn impressed :D
The whole piece has a nice weight to it, feels similar to the FC-187 construction wise.
No imperfections have jumped out at me, I have gone weeks without noticing little alignment issues in other pieces in the past, but this one looks quite nice :)
I really like the size of it, I've been wanting a nice larger piece for a while now.

Can't wait to give it a test run with the lsv and sub :D

@MGG - you've def gotta try this one man :)

Awesome! Looks amazing. How does the mouthpiece feel?
Function looks on point.
