Rosin Technique....Easy DIY Solventless

Been Vapin

Fringe Class
Every time a piece of hash gets pressed it gets thrown into a couple ounces of Everclear. Thanks for the tip @NorVape

Just drank about 10ml of Everclear rosined hash juice. Will report back with results.

Gonna have a Lil sesh then press some stuff.

Edit. Been 1.5 hours since ingestion. I feel pain free with a body high. Didn't even Vape this morning.

I pressed some hash without the pressing screen and got too much containment. I collected all the dirty rosin, put it in a micron screen and repressed it at 150°F to clean it up. Unfortunately I didn't use enough screen so some containment got through. So now I ended up with super super clean rosin and a decently clean rosin.

The rosin Everclear high has increased a lot in the half hour. It's getting harder to edit this post lol. 2 hours later I'm ready to go back to bed. Its been 4 hours since ingestion. Only was able to Vape a few puffs. Very strong body high and intense munchies coming on. Everclear Rosin juice is no joke

Scraped my LSV wand and WPA and got a nice little chunk of vapor resin hash stuff. Pressed through a 25u screen it actually came out pretty good.

Blows my mind that I can make 100% clean full melt from some nasty LSV reclaim hahaha. Obviously the flavor isn't awesome but it's POTENT.

That color looks pretty damn good if you ask me ! That looks like a decent amount of wand resin, must have been pretty caked up.

@Jared - what was the appx yield? Also, did you process the chips prior to blasting?
No idea it would be a total guess. Super super low though. And not sure what you mean by process in this specific case but I broke up the smashed weed before packing if that's what you mean.

Edit: Another awesome post from foundation_extracts on IG https://instagram.com/p/2c_P0wIqwG/

Regarding Instagram, do people have any rosin tech IG'ers they recommend?

I like watching videos to learn.

Or any rosin tech info sites. I miss the FB rosin tech page. It's like we all discovered it had waxes, fats and then some comments about silicone/teflon flu? Then there was a few comments about "everyone goes back to BHO". Seems like the next day, the page was gone..

There's a private Rosin Tech facebook group but it's honestly pretty awful. Someone posted a picture of BHO on there (not trolling, just showing off what he made) and people jumped on him like he was the devil. Called BHO poison and all this other crazy stuff. I left that group pretty quickly haha but I guess there could possibly be some good information in there if you can stand to listen to the anti-anything but rosin people scream.

What's this silicon Teflon flu talk? Hasn't rosin been tested ?
I really don't know for sure, I saw a few posts by the same person before it was gone about it. I never read anything about anyone complaining about symptoms or sickness. That guy that posted it got trashed of course, so I was hesitant to mention it here. lol

I think the danger if there is any, may be from the fumes the silicone puts off if over heated and not the rosin itself, but i am just guessing at the best.

Not sure if this is the same link I read but I believe so. It was edited recently but it seems legit?

Great Scott!
What silicone, the parchment, or people using oil slick pads?

I don't hate on information! haha. I always love knowing the risks of things. I am often the guy getting flamed for making too big of a deal of risks...

Sticking to parchment paper thank you....

Ping: @herbivore21 - we need material safety advice :)
lol did somebody flash the herbivore signal?

I am flat out with other work so I really don't have time to enter into debate about this if others still want to use any of the materials I argue against. Still, I'll do my best to provide my up to date thoughts on the question of materials as well as the state of rosin more broadly. Please, take or leave what I have to say guys, what you do is your business and if you want to accept the risks I identify, that is ultimately your decision. I only share to answer the question asked of me. ;)

First, I'd like to clarify that whilst Oil Slicks rate their pads/mats up to 500f and say that they distribute heat evenly, this is only described in terms of purging solvents and does not refer to the situation of unevenly applying much more heat to a smaller area of the mat as per rosin tek.

Furthermore, many who are pressing rosin, myself included (back when I did, I have given up on rosin because my solvent based concentrates are just way better and I am far more confident of their safety) do not accurately know what temperatures are being reached when they are pressing. It is difficult to know conclusively whether we are approaching these heats around the oil slick/teflon.

What stopped me from pressing rosin was the fact that teflon needed to be replaced (and that shit is expensive!) or over time would get warped and misshapen and scare me with regard to potential contamination. Oil slick mats were great because they seemed to stay intact and as you guys know, are much easier to get your rosin off of when you are done.

However, I have noticed that oil slick mats tend to smell chemically when used for pressing rosin over time (especially right after being pressed!). This was the final nail in the coffin of this tech for me (for now at least).

That is not to say this problem can't be resolved, but I don't see the need personally, given that I can get tastier results with my solvent based tech from the same material and it is much quicker and easier for me (especially for large amounts, I don't wanna have to wait to press my medicine when I'm trying to stave off a panic attack or thoughts of wanting to harm myself!).

I look forward to someone else undoubtedly solving this issue due to the widespread attention this tek has gotten.

I recommend teflon for this purpose in the meantime, on the proviso that new teflon is used every press or every second press. I heartily advise against using SS micron screens, which catch a lot of oil and also conduct heat as well as provide hard, thin, somewhat inclined metal surfaces which with heat and pressing may damage the protective platinum cured layer over oil slick mats as well as potentially damaging the teflon due to the increased conduction and reciprocal transfer of heat (teflon is thinner than oil slick pads lol).

Be very careful with this tech guys, you can definitely get great results, but there are a lot of new factors to consider and rosin is still in its infancy.

As to parchment, I definitely noticed that residue comes off of even Raw parchment onto my oils and try not to use this at all anymore for oil purposes of any kind (including storage!).

Thanks for that info Sir. I have silicon and teflon roller covers here but now i am thinking maybe it would be better to anodize my existing rollers or go with stainless or titanium rollers and forget the teflon altogether to be sure.

Anyone know any super cheap press setups that work better than a flat iron? Ideally I'd have something like that hydraulic press foundation uses but I'm sure those are outrageously expensive. Broke my hair straightener finally. :(

How would you define super cheap?

Just so you have an idea what the press costs. They start at around $250

As far as I know silicone free parchment paper doesn't exist. Pretty sure it's the silicone coating that makes it parchment paper. I searched and searched for silicone free and found some on a website but if you went to the actual manufacturers website it listed silicone.

Anyways I'm still doing work with my broken hair straightener for the time being lol. Never had my parchment paper degrade unless I was pressing too hot.
