Hey guys!

So I've had my Solo a while. I have the d020 for it, a wooden stem by Ed, and I honestly just love the device to tears.

Thing is, I now want to get a killer bong for it. My budget is $150. I know that can't get me anything AMAZING, but I bet I can still get something pretty good. I've been looking at ThickAssGlass pieces and they seem pretty nice.

Any thing I should specifically look for in a bong to be used with the Solo? How will honeycombs and percs affect it? Would I get any use out of the ice catcher?

Thanks :)

The more perc's the worse!
If you have a D020 then get a D022 for $32.00 on Dhgate delivered!

What's wrong with percs? And I hear this specific piece has very, very little drag.

Additionally, would you recommend making use of the ice catcher? Or not, since vapor condenses much quicker than smoke?
I use my smaller bubblers for the SOLO.
The D020 is sized just right actually!

When you have vapor you don't need a lot of diffusion!
I have at least 30 glass pieces however I use no more than 7 different ones!

CANNABIS is the HOLY GRAIL!

Is there anything wrong with drawing in very strongly with the Solo? I assume the bowl would be cashed quicker, but logically that would mean that you are getting denser hits (at least in terms of cannabinoid density). Anyone care to comment?

While there's nothing 'wrong' with it, I would be careful about assumptions like that. Do you have other vapes right now or is this based on experience combusting? They are not the same.

In blazing, drawing harder pulls fresh air into the fire and generates more heat. In Solo drawing harder pulls more air in that needs to be heated. This robs heat that would otherwise make vapor. You can get a 'larger hit' (in terms of volume), typically at the sacrifice of density. Since heat is for the most part carried into the load by conduction, a rate that doesn't go up with draw like in blazing, the additional production can't be rushed. The maximum rate heat is available to the system is fixed by those factors.

If you want more, faster, turn up the heat. This will cash the load faster, delivering at a faster (denser) rate, at the expense of taste and being more harsh.

Anyway, please, what's your point of reference to vaporizers? Do you have one now, it's probably useful to relate that one to Solo....... As a generic question, it had different answers I think.

TIA

Good point. I would like to be able to cash the bowl in 4-5 big hits out of a bong :) You bring up some good points, and I'll probably end up hitting it at a higher temp than desired (since all the air pulled in will cool it down).

I have the Solo, MFLB, and Imag Plus, but my assumption wasn't based on my experience with any of those.

Now you have me confused, if you already have a Solo why is it you didn't know this???

Otherwise, yes, if you want it all fast, go to higher temperatures. If you want to offset some of the adverse effects of that, go to water?

so I have ordered a new stem and its flopping about I was advised to put a o ring in there but when I did this with my old solo the heater cover came off will the cover drop off if I try to put the o ring in? all my other stems fit perfect so not sure what to do cheers everyone

Stem fit is a variable thing, especially with seals with lots of hours on them (lots of use). This is not a problem as far as the maker is concerned, it's normal.

0-rings aren't really intended to make the stem fit snug, only to keep the bent one from rotating. You also can't just stick one in without fitting it carefully. Not doing so can cause the cap to pop off or worse break the tabs at the bottom. The idea does not include compressing the ring to 'make it grip better' for that reason. You need to depend on the ring to naturally grip well enough and use the cover to keep the ring from rotating. Maybe 1/4 turn after contact at most.

All stems loosen up over time for practical purposes. Remember back to when it was new, how hard it was to get a stem in?

So i just got 4 domed screens in my mailbox.
I'm liking these. Nice air flow.
Good sized bowl to pack, not hug, not too small.

I've been trying the dome screen sandwich.
I highly recommend trying these!
There's a small noticeable increase in taste quality. And it's awesome on 7. No burnt taste, not that harsh, even with a regular straight stem on it. The bud is protected by the extra little shell. And lasts quite a bit.

Hmmm... Thanks dude that mentioned this sandwich
Big ups :)

That's a pretty sleek looking unit. I really, really have a hard time believing the 20,000 mAh capacity. IMO, the price is very high as well.
(EDIT: just looked at the size. wow, it's bigger than I thought. Full notepad size. Still think it's a lot of money though. :hmm:)
Did a quick search for a couple options and food for thought.
Not sure on the type of excursion your planning. I would be looking a something that would serve more than just one purpose. For example, need to blow up an air mattress or listen to music. Something like this pup would be cool. Or just a flashlight/charger even with a radio might fit nicely.(Second unit down) Or if you have existing power tools you could look for devices that would make use of them as well. Work radios etc.. Look for 12 volt accessory out on them. Basically anything with the automotive accessory jack will do. Of course you need the car adapter.
Happy shopping and have fun on your outing!!

Yeah, even if it was 80% effective, eh, ok. Agree on the price, but it is a little cheaper than others I saw. So, would it work? I have other uses for it in mind so it would be a multi-tasker.

I'm kayaking so space and weight are important. I was considering making a 3-cell 18650 pack that I saw OF made. It would cost about the same as this Anker unit when you get a charger and the cells. And it would be a unitasker as I don't have any other 18650 devices.

I have a 4.0x1.7 plug and a decent quality micro USB cable that will be sacrificed for the cause. Anything other than that for the cable?

I hear ya on the multi-voltage. I don't need anything over 12V so maybe there is a way to lock the higher ones out? One can hope...

The micro USB will be the 5 volt output. My guess is the 12/16/19V selectable out is a 5.5X(2.1 or 2.5)mm plug.

And well you should be. That's no doubt the total current capacity of all the 18650s or whatever are inside. At 3.6 Volts. Getting that to 12 will probably cost you something over 300%, that is one Ah will cost you 4 Ah of battery. If they're honest.

Another way to do it is to put 3 in series for 15 Volts total. The 'five volt only' ones are cheaper and probably more efficient at that single voltage (variable voltages are more of a compromise to cover the range).

OTOH my solution to this is sitting in front of my 'Solo warbag'.

3 protected 18650s in series, works great, simple. Normally it lives in a side pocket in the camera case. I made up several, AFAIK they all found happy homes. Somebody with ambition, modest soldering skills, some free time and a sense of adventure should make some?
