This is an interesting thread for me. I am an on-again-off-again user. When I have herb/tincture/dabs on hand I usually have a small amount daily (less than .1 gram - 1 half full trench in my mflb will last me 2 days on average).

However with regular use I start to notice stomach discomfort, sometimes on the verge of nausea but never quite there. I noticed it the most with my Pax when I had it, so I sold it off and kept my MFLB and Solo because the issue seemed less prevalent. I very rarely smoke at this point, maybe once every few months. It's all vaping or edible.

I have never gotten to the point of vomiting, just general stomach discomfort (which, in fact, I have mildly right now). Lots and lots of stomach gurgling too. I always thought it had something to do with munchies but then the past few weeks I have been monitoring my munchie intake to verify I'm not gorging, and keeping lots of fresh and dried fruits and veggies around for eating because I was gaining some weed weight.

I wonder - folks who experience this to the worst extents (nausea, vomiting, etc) - what other physical systems are you experiencing? Are your poops green (food forcing through your digestive tract before bile has a chance to oxidize)? Do any of you have or have a family history of liver disfunction? What are people eating? (sorry if this has been asked earlier, I haven't completely read through the whole thread).

Not sure if any of this helps, but years ago, I would combust before work and usually end up puking in the morning as I walked towards the shop. I thought maybe I was ill but it turned out I just hated my job so much the stress made me sick i think.

I do work for the same company today years later but now but it is on my terms. Much better!

Word. I used to think weed was making me crazy but really was mostly job stress. I pretty much cut that job out of my life and life is better.... But still very much unbalanced. Having a balanced life is a must for drug use. If life's not balanced than abuse can come quickly and quietly!

So glad weed was my first love, I could have learned these lessons the hard way.

I went to the ER at 3am last night. Before I went to bed I experienced sudden horrible pain in my upper left side (where kidneys are) and I also had colicky abdominal pain. Extreme nausea as well. I got a cat scan and blood and urine tests. They told me my kidney is inflammed and I have a small amount of blood in urine. The doctor suspects a kidney stone, however none were found in the scan. Also, I had bleeding in stool. I'm seeing a GI specialist and a urologist tomorrow. I recently have been reading up on CHS and I do show all the symptoms. I've been vaping daily for 3 years and I was smoking daily for 2 years before that. I've had the symptoms with nausea and stomach pains for more then a year. I've decided to stop all cannabis use for now. I'm thinking if the specialists don't find anything and I start getting better, perhaps CHS could be the cause for my issues. I will see what the doctors say, I've got lots of tests to take.

Update: I saw 3 doctors. The only thing wrong with me seems to be my ureter is inflamed, which is causing a small amount of blood as well. It doesn't seem to be a dire emergency since the doctor is made me wait 3 weeks to get a camera in me to see whats going on. He claimed it could be some of damage from a stone that unknowingly passed, infection or (hopefully not) cancer. So waiting to see what thats about for another week and a half. I stopped vaping for a few days but I was in pain and having trouble eating so I went back. I'm pretty sure none of what was going on with me was part of CHS. Though I believe I do have it, its very hard for me to stop vaping because I start feeling sick by the second day.

Hi guys,
I stumbled onto this forum recently. I'm a newly diagnosed CHS sufferer. Text book case- daily (and sometimes ALL DAY) user for over 5 years now, started having these randomly vomiting issues and last week ended up in the ER for the second time- all tests normal except the constant puking and got told about CHS. I haven't smoked for a week and everything is okay.

My big problem is though that this is something I really enjoy. I know I can cut it out completely if I have to, but I really don't want to. So I do find it a bit reassuring to read that some of you have gone back to it, on a restricted amount, and been okay.

I've been a pipe girl for most of my smoking career and know pretty much NOTHING about vapes. Do any of you have any equipment recommendations for a first time vapor since it sounds like that's a better option then going back to my pipe.

I'm just finding it really hard. Not to give it up, that was easy, but the idea of never getting to have some ever again just makes me want to cry. I won't say I'm addicted but smoking pot was a reward at the end of the day that I really enjoyed and right now I feel like now I have nothing to look forward to. I'm single, an introvert, not really into spending a ton of money or going out for "adventures" and it just feels like life has gotten a bit dull. Heck I use to be a junk food junkie and even that doesn't give me any excitement- I've had a chocolate bar in my fridge since Saturday, completely untouched and that's not happened in my entire 35 years of life. I'm already on antidepressants so I can't even try drinking for a buzz.

It doesn't help that the online social group I hang with, some of the major players told me CHS doesn't exist and that I just needed to get over it.

So I guess I'm just looking for some advice and maybe a little support from people who have been there and know that while the puking is awful, at the same time giving up something that brought you joy, is really hard.

I had the same issue, smoking was giving me many of these symptoms but vaping eliminated them for the most part. So the switch from smoking to vaping is definitely worth a try imho.

That said, you need to figure out what kind of vape will meet your needs the best. You mentioned that you like pipes, so that implies that portability may be important to you. But you also mention that you're somewhat of a homebody that looks forward to cannabis at the end of your daily routine. Budget can also be a big issue when considering vaporizers, as well as your usage frequency/tolerance level.

If you liked pipes, you may like the firefly. It's the most pipe-like experience that I've had. That said, there is some technique involved to get the best out of it, as with many vapes especially portables. The crafty for example doesn't need any special technique, but it doesn't offer much of a pipe-like experience either.

If you don't need portability, there's really no need to mess around with batteries or torches. Although fire has its appeal, it's usually best to just get a plug-in model. The vape that originally won me over was the silver surfer, an old standby that has never let me down. Log vapes offer more efficiency, and many here swear by their e-nanos. Both of these options will satisfy and are modestly priced.

There are a few portables that offer the best of both worlds, with extra battery life and power but they aren't exactly tiny like the stealthy ones on the other end of the spectrum. Most of us end up with at least one portable and one plug-in, and a flame-powered vape can definitely be useful for camping or power outages.

Welcome to fc, this is a great place to get started on all things vapor-related

Welcome aboard @crassenti. Sorry for the health issues related with our fav flower. Do you suffer from anxiety at all?

If you are serious about venturing into vaporizing @grokit is right you really need to have 2 vaporizers just in case one doesn't work. You don't want to risk sliding back into smoking because it can happen. You are probably over the hump possibly because you haven't been using cannabis for a little while (1 week). You have to make sure you don't take up smoking again before you get your vaporizer.

Once you get your vaporizer don't smoke and vaporize because you will defeat the purpose. You have to completely cut the smoking out of your routine. Vaporizing will be a positive with very few negatives. You will notice your cannabis bill will be less. You won't stink up the air or smell like weed. You won't be advertising that you are smoking pot because you will be vaporizing incognito especially if you buy a portable stealth unit.;)

You will notice that your overall health will be better. You will be able to enjoy say a blueberry cannabis and you will be able to taste a faint blueberry taste while you vaporize. You can't do that when you combust. Right now I'm enjoying some GrapeApe in my Enano and yes I do taste a bit of the grape.:)

Hey guys my names Tom,
Please don't mind my rambling first time posting about this but everyone's effort helps raise awareness,
So I've been having really bad stomach pains now for about a year and a half and I have no clue to what there from even to this day, the pains hard to explain it feels like someone's ripping the inside of my stomach apart at times and other times I get so nausas it's misserable but either way there's always pain there, I've noticed when I'm sitting around not doing anything I don't have as much pain but I doing paving so I'm pretty much always having to do something and I can't afford to just sit home because I'm married with a kid so I fight thru the pain and try working a lot of the times I throw up because the pains so bad. I've literally tried everything to help the pain, at first they thought it was kidney stones comes to find out it wasn't after them giving me a ct and sending me to a gi got sent away again, then I though it was milk so I stopped drinking all milk, cheese everything and didn't help, then I stopped eating gluten because a lot of people said it was that, but nothing, I've lost over 20 pounds in the past 4 months due to my change of diet going from 165 to 143 I'm 21 6', this whole time I've been smoking weed everyone said its the weed I didn't believe them of course but when all else failed and reading about cannabanoid hypermesis I figured it had to be I quit smoking weed completely June 29th 2015 and it was the worst pain of my life I was on a family vacation the week of the 4th and I pretty much just sat around and did nothing while everyone was having fun and after that week I still had pain but not as bad so I was hoping it was working but then I smoked July 12th at night the tiniest bowl of my life next day was terrible, so I haven't smoked again scince and its August 4th now. I still have bad stomach pains not nearly as bad when I was smoking so I'm still staying away from it which is hard because I'm still having pains and the doctors haven't done anything, they haven't given me pain medication they just look at me like a nut and they set me up to put a camera down my throat and up my butt August 13th I've been going to the doctors for about 8 months, I live in Washington and with Obamacare all doctors are so booked so long waits. ill keep you guys updated because I'm clueless along with all the doctors I didn't think stopping smoking would take this long to stop the pain helppp

Thank you I'll keep you guys updated because if there's anyone else like me there probably thinking it's pointless to post because nothing seems to help anything but after all this time pain and money I've spent on this I hope I can just help someone else

@Tboulanger12, it could be anything imho; maybe see about a referral to a specialist in environmental medicine? Good luck to you
Not really sure how it can be anything when you type in my symptoms there's a huge list of things that pop up and I've tried about everything to do with the diseases that pop up, like I said I've changed literally my whole diet, I've stopped smoking weed, I've been tested for kidney stones, I've taken medicine for ibs and Crohn's disease, they've taken my blood plenty of times and nothing really they've tested my pee several times they said they've found very small traces of blood in my urine one time. Not sure what other thing it could be? So if you're saying it could be anything other than what I've already tried would you mind sharing? Thank you

I didn't see if you ever vaporized? Vaporizing cannabis might be different than smoking far as Hyperemesis is concerned. I get really bad anxiety and some of your symtoms I get with my anxiety, cannabis does help me with that.

I've heard folks that have had problems with smoking but not so much with vaporizing with the Hyperemesis syndrome. I have heard some here though. Good luck with that, I hope something comes of the testing so you can start feeling better soon. It's hard when you're sick and you have a family.

I wish you were joining FC under better circumstances. It would be wise to consider vaporizing instead of smoking if you decide to continue to use cannabis. Hang in there.

Honestly at this point I am nearly certain that this condition is anxiety based, or at least the cyclic nature of the illness is anxiety based - the trigger itself may not be. It's never the same thing that triggers my attacks, but gastric distress is always involved and usually food is too.

The last time I met up with my doctors I shared my thoughts regarding the anxiety. She prescribed me Ativan, a benzodiazepine that I was very hesitant to take given my predisposition against pharmaceuticals, but I decided to give it at least one shot to see if it works. At this point I'm willing to try anything.

It took several months for me to have another attack, and when I did I took the Ativan. 1mg in a sublingual tablet. It worked so fast that thought it was the placebo effect. It wasn't a silver bullet - but it took the nausea and stress and I was able to continue doing what I was doing and make it till the end of the work day. When I got home I took a long hot shower and the attack was over. I never even threw up once.

A few days later I stupidly ate way to much Thai food and triggered another attack. While I ended up throwing up twice during this attack, the Ativan again took a massive edge away and stopped the cycle from continuing on for days like it has in the past.

For a nausea so deep and permeating, nothing has worked up until now. Not Gravol, not ginger, not chemotherapy grade antiemetics, not anything but hot water and time. The Ativan is the first thing I have found that has even helped. I hesitate to recommend benzodiazepines to anyone, but damn it they might actually work.

This is all very recent, and I will be having another meeting with my doctor soon to discuss what I've found. But in the meantime, I'm very interested to know if fellow suffers of this disease are on or have tried drugs like Ativan (Wellbutrin, Xanax, Paxil) and to what success.

I had all kinds of stomach pains once for weeks and I went to the walk in clinic. They sent me to a specialist who told me I had bladder cancer most likely. After all kinds of tests and several weeks and now pissing blood, one of my testicles was getting huge and the specialist said he was leaning towards testicular cancer also. I was in my early 30's.

I went to a third doctor who gave me a test and within 15 minutes told me I have had E.coli for the last 2 plus months. He gave me a script for antibiotics and I guess this may not be helpful but my point is, it's always good to get a second or third opinion even.

@Tboulanger12 I had stomach issues, sort of like yours, and I eventually learned Powerwalking everyday in the morning, helped big time, and healed me.

What I do is eat a carbohydrate rich food like oatmeal, then get on the treadmill to powerwalk. I slowly sip a protein shake while walking. I Powerwalk for at least an hour a day, straight. I have theories why this helped heal me, but I don't feel like going into all of that. Try it out, I think it will really help you.

I deal with morning nausea as well, however, it is due to a chronic disability. Or at least I always thought it was...
Interesting post. I'll have to do more research on the topic.

Interesting you should mention that. When I wake up I have the weirdest churning pains in my stomach followed by intense nausea. I've started to wake up earlier because of it. To help my stomach settle down, i take a few puffs, eat a fruit, and take the dog out for an hour walk. As long as I have my morning walk to get my system going, the pains go away rather quickly.

I think stimulating your digestive system through physical exercise in the morning gets everything flowing again.

Did anyone have the nausea come on after craxy head aches ( that's how mines started ).
Yes, BUT my headaches were/are directly caused by my posture. I study upwards of 4hrs a day in the same position and I work as well. Keeping my head tilted downwards caused all of the muscle connected to my cervical vertebra to become strained over time. Im in the process of adjusting my entire way of life to accommodate a proper posture.

Although it might not be directly related to your ailments, it might be a factor that you should consider. I originally thought it was something more serious connected to my health issues.

I'll definitely try it, i got my results back from the gi about the colonoscopy and endoscopy and they said everything is normal -_- I'm defenitly confused, I got a follow up appointment Friday I'll see what the next step is because I've tried everything else, I've even tried working out for a month and the stomach pain was just too bad, it's gunna be really hard to walk every morning for an hour because I get so sick but if your saying you fought thru it and it worked I'm defenitly down to try it thank you
