:suspicious: Really?
Those of us that backed this originally won't even get a functioning vape out of the deal ?!?
That's just :disgust:

Shortly after my last post, received an update on email

  • Debut of Evoke prototypes at Denver Cannabis Cup 4/20
  • Evoke Pre-Orders Now Available at EvokeVape.com
  • Expected Ship Date and Mouthpiece Re-Design
  • What exactly will I be receiving with my Indiegogo order?
  • New Evoke Spec Sheet Shows Evoke's Production Features

Evoke Prototypes Debuted at High Times Cannabis Cup in Denver 4/18-4/20

We are super excited to announce that we demonstrated Evoke from 4/18 to 4/20 at the Cannabis Cup in Denver. We showed off the Evoke to as many people as possible, running our prototypes almost non-stop for 3 days straight. It was amazing to receive immediate feedback from a big group of people, many aficionados of dry herb and concentrates. A very special thank you to those original Indiegogo Supporters who took time to swing by the booth and say hello - you know who you are - and we appreciated having our supportive community get involved!

Check out INC magazine's coverage of Loto Labs on their 4/20 slide show here.

Evoke Presales Now Up and Running!

With Evoke prototypes now available for trial, we have initiated limited presale of our first limited production run of 5000 units (2500 of which are already reserved for our founding Indiegogo supporters). Presale orders are being taken through Indiegogo's InDemand service at www.EvokeVape.com and we currently have an exclusive Cannabis Cup offer of only $299 per unit. You can check it out at and share it with your friends so they can take advantage of this discounted rate.

** Our initial Indiegogo supporters will receive the first Evokes. No preorders through InDemand will be filled until all of our initial Indiegogo supporters have received their order **

Expected Ship Date

Our current fulfillment date has been moved to August/September, due to a mouthpiece re-design. We know everyone is anxious to get their unit, and we are anxious to send them to you - but we want Evoke to be a truly quality product. After receiving and testing our prototypes, we realized the mouthpiece needed a re-design. Despite the pain OF pushing back our shipping date again, we believe that most of our supporters would rather wait just a little bit longer, and get the best product possible.

What Exactly Will I Be Receiving? Can I change my order?

We've been getting a lot of Indiegogo inquiries about what exactly is coming in the package. Although Evoke will be compatible with all 3 materials, Indiegogo supporters will receive the one induction core they indicated on their initial order. They will also receive 3 wicks and 3 capsules that complement the core. For instance, if you choose the dry herb version, you will get the Evoke unit, the dry herb induction core + 3 dry herb bullets and 3 dry herb wicks. Batteries, chargers and accessories will be sold separately.

We hope our supporters understand that the batteries and chargers are expensive, and the $99 rate we charged our initial supporters will already be a 75% discount from our retail price. Furthermore, many of you may choose to purchase your batteries and charger from a local retailer or online at the lowest possible price, rather than purchasing these items directly from us. As a startup, still yet to bring our first product to market, it is simply not financially feasible for us to provide these items for all 2,500 initial units.

We will be contacting all Indiegogo supporters in order to verify shipping information prior to our August/September fulfillment. At this time, if you would like, you can switch from E-liquid to Loose Leaf, or add additional induction coils to your order.

If you have any further questions, please direct them to hello@lotolabs.com and we will do our best to answer them.

I figured this might be the case. So I'm getting a vape that I can't even use without buying extra stuff. I understand their position but this is extremely disappointing.

Yes, a bit frustrating. But at least in prototype's presentation video (as can seen below on 0:56 minute) the battery appears to be 18650, widely used, as on Arizer Air.

Moreover, as they say in the update:
"Furthermore, many of you may choose to purchase your batteries and charger from the local retailer or online at the lowest possible price, rather than purchasing these items directly from us."

What I can understand reading this is that if we buy third-party batteries and use in it, that won't void the warranty, as Arizer do(of course arizer send one battery with the air, which is a good argument for them).

This, at least, can be a good news in a long term. I hope..

Great Scott!
Hopefully its really good since those of you who pre-ordered and "supported them" can't even get a full kit...

Just re-enforcing my campaign of don't buy into the crowdfunding market at all. Its just not proving itself worth it in the majority of cases. They are allowed too much freedom with changing their minds once they have the money.

All the horrible downsides, including the size, I still might want one if its an actual quality concentrate vape. I'm certainly waiting to see however.

Another update received!

Dear Supporter,

There have been a lot of legitimate complaints from our original Indiegogo supporters about Evoke not including batteries.

We wish that we could ship our original Indiegogo supporters a full battery setup. The fact is, staying true to our vision of making the best vaporizer we can, and not compromising on quality, makes for a really expensive vaporizer.

The whole Loto Labs team felt that they would rather receive a better unit without batteries than an inferior unit with batteries. We hope that you feel the same way.

The Evoke uses a common battery size, 18650. We designed Evoke so that the battery could easily be swapped out, so that you would never have to plug Evoke into a wall to use it. Many vapers already have these batteries. We recommend using Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries (LiFePO4).

We've also had some questions about the wick Evoke uses. Evoke's wick operates in a different way than a traditional vaporizer. Evoke's wicks are metal and reusable. They are not attached to the vaporizer, and are easy to pop out, clean and reuse. Three wicks and the three glass capsules that hold them are included in every Evoke package and our intention is that you won't have to purchase more. It is possible to break the glass capsules so we want to make them available in the event people need more. To date, in all of our testing, we've only had one break, because Gabe our VP of Design, dropped it on the floor and accidentally stepped on it.

We're working on making videos demonstrating Evoke in use, which will hopefully answer a lot of other questions.

Please understand that Evoke is a very expensive unit to make. Each Evoke costs much more to manufacture than our original Indiegogo supporters paid for them. We expect the final retail price to be over $400, which, even with the cost of the batteries, still results in a substantial savings for our initial supporters.

Without our Indiegogo supporters we would not be where we are today, but ultimately we believe that making the best product possible is the most important thing and we hope you will stand with us.

Finally, it may have been hard to find our part of the Inc. Magazine Slideshow. Here is a link that will take you directly there:

Evoke would have been better served by asking for twice as much money up front with indiegogo. If that meant they would sell 50% less units, they would still raise the same amount of funds. Then they could send out vapes that will actually vaporize out of the box, which I think is what is so unsatisfying about this.

I wrote them to ask what they plan to do for people like me who ordered both concentrate&LL units.....it seems you'll receive only the coil you ordered (the full kit will include the 3 differents coils), so maybe I'll get only 1 unit with both coils for concentrate&LL.....

I agree the crowfunding start to bored me, I contributed for the Inhalater and in fact they make quickly a poor version of the Xp for funders. And some weeks after came out with the real improvement (the"05S), now you can find the 05 cheaper than I payed for it in IGG (and I wait several months...).

I hope this one will be a better deal....

Is this what evoke wants an additional $89 for via indiegogo?

"The Batteries and Charger accessory contains two LiFePO4 batteries and a matching charger and free US Shipping. DO NOT forget international shipping."

I'm guessing that these batteries may not be right, as Li-ion batteries seem to have different mAh ratings than LiFePO4 batteries. Does anybody know the evoke's mAh requirement?

The Cera was the same way. Doesn't bother me much since I have plenty of 18650s and a few chargers.
Well I don't. Not sure I even want to invest at this point. I knew when Uptoke got involved something bad like this would happen . . . I am beyond disappointed in this project. To NOT have a functioning vape out of the box is inexcusable. I have not contacted LotoLabs regarding my feelings yet. No more crowd funding for me.

This is a valid point. They offered it for sale as well, but I think the real burn here is that people who BACKED this are getting a non-functional vape. They aren't buying a cheaper package etc.

But that does put in perspective that I totally forgot the thermovape didn't come with a charger, and I never remembered that because the positives still outweigh the negatives with that vape.

I'm hoping this vape kicks ass. Crowd funding is dead to me, this vape is becoming less and less appealing to me as well, but lets see how it performs before I write it off for a TERRIBLE launch strategy.

I'm waiting till i know exactly what to order battery wise. I also plan to try this one trick i do with most of my vaporizers to do E-juice. I really won't get anything portable wise i can't do this with, And from what i have seen i don't see why this wouldn't work in the evoke ll. I just upgraded to higher wattage and harder hitting tank E-juice wise, So i doubt the $100 Evoke E-juice set up is gonna compete with my juice set up. I also noticed from doing it all in the Haze with some vaporizers when you do this it's VERY hard to get that taste of juice %100 out.

If the evoke guys could chime in on the mAh rating of their stock batteries, and/or give us the range of mAh that is acceptable for these LifePo4 18650 3.2v batteries, well that would be just great

Perhaps if you summoned Neeraj but I don't think he would notice . . . :disgust:

@Loto Labs - Neeraj, if you are listening, I think the decision to NOT provide backers of your project with a working vape out of the box is inexcusable and I feel cheated. I have no 18650s to use and probably won't invest in any. You changed the rules from the original campaign. How about the stretch goals we unlocked like the water tool adapter and the custom monogramming and Bluetooth? What happens to those? IMHO this is a shitty way to treat your original investors. I'm sorry if you didn't charge enough up front or if Uptoke took too much of your money, or if you made a bad calculation, but that is your fault, not ours. We DESERVE a working vape with a battery and charger for backing you in the beginning.

I think all of them will have bluetooth, There gonna have a phone app kinda like the Crafty. I thought this was publicly stated at some point, But as for the w.p.a i don't think were getting those, And i %100 would like to trade off the monogramming for batteries. I don't think there gonna go for that tho.

I can E-mail regarding the batteries, So we at least know what is good to get.

I sent IndieGoGo a complaint and this is their reply:

Hi t-dub,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand your frustration around this situation. As much as we want to help out with regards to pricing, we are not able to make assumptions or definite estimate on how the Evoke product itself and the charger should cost. It is the campaign owner who handles the manufacturing of these items so they are the one who's responsible with the materials used and the cost of the labor to get the product done.

With regards to stretch goal, please get in touch with the campaign owner so they can provide a better idea on when they are able to execute what they have mentioned on their stretch goal.

The campaign owner, Neeraj Bhardwaj can be reached at neeraj@lotolabs.com
I have also cc'ed the campaign owner on this email so both of you are able to discuss this issue and come to an agreement/resolution.

Thank you for your understanding. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

Cheers,
