Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

I bought a red Persei less than a week ago from w9tech and the top has already burnt out. Started with nothing but flashing ring when I tried to fire it up. I proceeded to charge the batteries to full and then when I replaced them the top began to smoke! Enjoyed the vape for a few days. I bought a number of accessories including the SR-74x, the Okeanos, the Nibbler G, numerous KISS carts, globe carts, spare batteries, etc... Unfortunately can't use any of it without a functioning top!
Go to w9, click "my account," and then open a ticket. They will get your top fixed ASAP. Sam's a great guy to talk to and he will walk you through everything. Sorry to hear about your top, I'll pour one out for your fallen homie.

Only birdshit and fools
for co2 might want to use longer cuts intead of 1/3 i might go 1/2 cut.

As for cooling it down it helps with co2 if a longer cool down period is used.

As for performance glad you like.

As for my next question. Honest answer please.

Dont you wish you tried the herc sooner?

I do wish I had tried the herc sooner.

I just wish you could make a mini version. maybe shorten the bottom of the rod and the reclaim chamber, integrated sleeve adapter, shorter mouthpiece. (not bashing)

also I would prefer a smaller battery combo.
I feel like I'm carrying a damn light sabre around ;)

the 8 is a really good quality mechanical mod!

I guess it's time for an okenos and a single battery! ;)

Does that $20 include a bottom spring? I'm assuming not at that price. Would this and a core equal a functioning vape?

I was going to make a sweet 420th post to celebrate on 4/20 with that KISS Cart and Globe rebuilding tutorial I've been practicing my wrap game to film, and some Okeanos and Nibbling action to boot, but sometimes, life has other plans. My first piece of UP Tech glass bit the dust recently- a friend wasn't aware of where it was placed, and I lost what was rapidly becoming my favorite Nibbler....

Down temporarily, but will be back up and running soon: A metaphor for me the last few weeks, lol.

Things has been busier than usual is all. Finding a new home in a new city, packing to move, bikes to ride, sunsets to chase.. The minutiae of life...

While I've had plenty of time to help out during the day at work with G and crew, I haven't had much extra free time to contribute to FC as much as I usually do in the past month. I promise to make it up to you all in a few more weeks once I'm moved and settled ;)

I did get to take my first vacation in a year this past weekend. Just before I move out of the San Juan Islands, I got to spend the weekend over on Orcas Island with a friend who is Master Gardener and owns his Tier 2 I-502 Producer / Processor... It's the nicest garden I've ever seen.

It sure is nice to have backup units...

Big thanks to my room mate @higher_vibration for snapping that one...

I've put over 3oz of extracts through this Hercules (originally an SR-74, then upgraded to an x) all on one of two rods (its original, and a black 3.7V). I've needed a new bottom insulator (upgraded to the SR-71 mechanical style) two new PTFE inserts and one more Ti coil for it- one of my original Ti coils is still going strong about a year and a half later. About 90% of this Herc's use has been on this V2 Persei which is solid as a rock. I've gone through a few sets of AW's, and I'm scared to think about how much it would have cost me to put that much oil through disposable cartridges in the last year if I wasn't using the Hercules.

And how weak and flavorless that vapor would have been. But I digress...

Want you all to know, even if you don't see me posting super often, I am here to help manning the phones with product questions Monday through Friday, as well as answering any warranty, repair, or troubleshooting through our support ticket system- hit me up any time at

http://www.w9tech.com/vaporizer-contact-us/

Until next time!

thanks for the feed back.

no on the bottom spring and beauty ring, the unit will be top and tube, so if you have a core you can make it work but it wont have the beauty ring.

Also another major sale is going on this friday.

Persei SS kits

Chrome Persei top and tube only,

Kiss carts nichrome versions

many other things we have sitting here.

Think of it as spring cleaning.

@ragnorokk not sure on that as thats handled by our glass blower, ill try to measure if i can this week and let you know unless someone here beats me to it.

@DVision44 please submit a ticket and our cs team will help you get back on your feet.

Is anyone here familiar with using box mods with the SR-74X, with box mods? I've been looking at the Sigelei 100W Plus. My intent is to get a box mod, not a concentrate vape, but it'd be nice if I could use the SR-74X on it. So, is there any reason, I shouldn't go with the Sigelei, maybe another option, or two? I should also mention that I'd like the box mod to run off of two IMR 18650s.

@CrazyJustin -Yes...

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/will-hercules-sr74x-work-on-a-variable-voltage-e-cig-mod.16870/

I don't recommend doing this, particularly if you are not already experienced with the Hercules on one of our battery voltage output devices.

I have seen some really neat things done by people that probably shouldn't have a 150 variable watt power supply in their hand, that need a bit more experience with electronics and circuits and working with a multimeter to find out whats happening in the circuit they assembled... Melted thread adapters from attempting to run way more current through the Hercules than it was ever designed for is the most recent one.

The Hercules was designed to be run by the Persei, and that is my strong suggestion.

I don't plan on getting it right away. I just want to keep my options open. I was actually planning on getting a KISS cartridge, to test out first. Buying another device, just to use the SR74X, just isn't worth it for me. What I'm looking for is a versatile box mod.

Does the newest model real reach 3 ohm? And if it does. Wouldn't starting off at around 18w, and giving the device some time to warm up, maybe slowly stepping up the watts to 21w, or so help. Besides, I don't want monster hits, I just want decent hits.

Let me tell you this: the kiss cart is not comparable to the kiss globe is not comparable to the sr-7series. I bought $100 worth of non sr-71 stuff to play with and was enjoying it.

Pulled out my 74x today, which needs reloading, and took 1 hit...

Even when it needs to be reloaded, hercules kicks the dual coil globe (my fav so far of the KISS style products) to the curb for perfect hits and less fiddling (once assembled properly, anyway).

Also, Herc works on my 50w iStick, but is a pain. I vastly prefer the experience on my Persei, but I guess I'm not using my iStick as an e-cig. For mixed use, I guess I don't know much about using a Persei.

The 8, on the other hand, doubles as a 510 and 601 machine, that drives a Herc perfectly when adjusted correctly, and out of the box can support 3.7v or 7.4v.

What makes using the Herc on your iStick a pain?

its not much of a pain, works pretty well for me. After 5 seconds of holding it then sipping the next 5 seconds i get massive clouds. But that is usually only after the first 5-7gs then you need to torch the rod to get it to hit like when you first bought it. I run my sr74x at 7.4 fine, only move up to 7.5 after i feel like it hardly ever higher unless its really low in concentrate. In a way i feel that they say its not ok since the money you spend on their product goes to their pocket, not someone elses, where mods cost low as 30$. There may be safety concerns but maybe soon in the future there will be mods that are safe.

When you say "torch my rod", do you mean to clean the rod, or to heat it up before use?

The 10s timeout is an issue for me w/ a 74x. I don't see proper heat up in 5s, that's impressive -- @7.4v on my iStick w/ a converter, I have to run til timeout, then another 6s after.

It's important to remember that what you perceive as "greedy," is a liability concern for them, not to mention a logistical warranty/service nightmare.

For the record, my iStick works great with my globe, but I have had nothing but problems w/ it using w9 products designed for 7.4-8.4v. I went from being mad at w9, to trying a Persei and being mad at myself.

I leave open the possibility of having received a particularly shitty iStick unit, as I got it in the first wave released. The likelihood of me getting it swapped was poor, and it worked fine for lower voltages, so I just moved on.

Do generic globes fit from other brands? Maybe I can get a generic to hold me over until I can stock up on boro globes.

I'll get my coils tomorrow. We have vape shops popping up everywhere. Maybe I'll stop in after I go pick up my package. The mailman did not ring the doorbell, someone was here all day. :(

Would a v2 persei top work with the herc 74x? Any weird potentially frying the top with it issues? For $20 I'm thinking I'd grab one, great backup for my backup or random present for someone.

My original Persei was a v2 and ran the SR-74 with no problems. I did eventually fry the top but that was due to me improperly reassembling the Herc. Since then I am fairly religious about checking resistance on the Herc after every reassemble before trying it on the Persei or 8.
