I usually have to wait 5 minutes before either of my DBV's can be vaped out of. Any less than that and I'm not getting decent hits. Which is why I usually avoid my DBV in a rush (and dab instead).

In my experience, the nano takes a good 15-20 minutes to reach optimal heat. I don't use mine until the wood is warm to the touch.

You can leave the nano running 24/7 and have it ready to go instantly, but there isn't a reason you can do the same with the DBV.

What weird taste are you experiencing? I've had a similar issue with both my Cloud+ and SSV GG heater cover.

Check the LSV thread and you will find a few log vape owners that call the LSV a log vape on steroids

 I agree. I shied away from the LSV for so long because I thought it looked so unwieldy, in reality it's as small width wise as a log, only 2" wide.

I prefer the LSV over the nano because of draw resistance, heat-up time, load size (nano loads are just too small for my liking), and form factor. With the nano you would need to adjust the screen up and down, if you screw up and get too close to the heater your load gets scorched. I don't worry as much with the LSV, for me it's much more forgiving, ymmv.
