Mini soldering iron dabber

Really? I thought this looked like absolute easiest way to dab. You only have to use one hand. It's like a self heating nail without all the cords and boxes. I don't know if u read the description but this thing is like less than 3 inches long. No big torch that makes poking smot look like smoking crack.

Thinking about using this as a dab tool.

Stick oil on water pipe and just touch it with the end this.

What do you all think?

Website says heats up to 210-400 C, so that's hot enough and also not too hot that it would melt glass too much

Well, I'm not sure about the technique you describe but using that particular soldering iron, in my opinion, is a bad idea - from a taste & most likely from a health perspective too.

Who know's what off-gassing you'll be inhaling from the metals & plastics used to construct this iron.

If you want to use a soldering iron, ceramic is the way to go.

Find yourself a ceramic soldering iron such as a Hakko, and remove the outer metal cover of the tip to reveal the ceramic heat element.

You will be tethered but it'll be much safer, & much tastier.

Well, that's my :2c:

Good luck!

That still seems like it wouldn't be the easiest way to dab, or the most efficient.

That may be true, but as I mentioned at the beginning of my post, I was not commenting on the technique, I was solely commenting on the equipment.

Whatever, I like it when people experiment! :science:

I hear ya, the description does not state what kind of metal the actual tip is made of so that is a concern.

Studying the pictures it looks like there is some sort of mesh or filler in between the actual flame and metal point, possibly a ceramic or ss mesh filter/conductor?

It's a cheap unit so I will def try it out at least once in the next few weeks and let u guys know.

Thoughts on best technique with this are welcome too.

That's your call man.

Please do report back your findings.

I wish you luck.

Hey I actually have a Hakko sitting here now - maybe I'll give it a whirl & see what happens . . . .

But what would be even better, of course, is this -

Classy kit. Pricey as fuhhhhhhhhhhk!

I still want one though & I have no need for it apart from looking amazingly cool as I spark my friends bowls & blunts

Have fun!

I never did act on any of this idea, although the new Lynx vape pen is kind of this same idea.
