I've been smoking a little bit in the evenings, and sometimes during the day because I've craved it. However, tonight I'm headed to bed after my first day of zero combustion while I had some herb in my possession ever. I wasn't trying to or anything; I just think that physically and mentality, I am gravitating towards vapor and looking at smoking unfavorably because of how it would destroy the nice high I'm achieving. Plus, after knowing what each little leaf holds in potency that is just being wasted in an instant with combustion. Once the 13.5 gets here, I'm thinking it will be adios for good. Happy zapping folks - and goodnight!

The only time I've combusted since buying my Vapor Genie several months ago was either by mistake (when I was first learning how to use the Vapor Genie) or when I wanted to try some hash.

And while you CAN vaporize hash in the Vapor Genie (and other vaporizers), and I have, I find that vaporizing hash is like taking a shower with a raincoat on; or something like that. ;)

Hash is made for getting very high very quickly and so I feel like, if I'm going to use hash, it should be with combustion. :D But I've only done it once and don't really feel in the mood much to do so... Actually I have vaporized it several times, and you do get higher from vaporizing hash than from vaporizing regular herb (assuming it's good hash, which it is). But for the most part, the hash is just for a "special occasion" once in a while.

And I prefer NOT to use combustion now.

The 13.5 use is very subjective. Just got this from the person who bought the one for sale on this forum a few days ago:
"Hey Rick,

Sent you a message about the hotter adapter earlier this week. I got the zap today and I don't think I'll need it. It works beautifully!! I'm so happy. I've owned alot of vapes from boxes to the extreme and I can definetly say this was by far the best purchase I've made. It looks SO great sitting on my table too!

Just wanted to say thanks for doing what you do"

Your order will ship today. Yesterday was mui crazy and my mail pick-up time was gone before I could look up.

I'll try another invoice today. Thanks for the words.
We do offer 13.5s with an order for an extra $10 or $15 if sold separately. We still like the 12 volt here in Zapville. I think some power grids run a bit hotter than others. They are supposed to be within a range of voltage between 110 and 120 volts, not an exact voltage. The heat produced in a Zap is directly related to input voltage so a few volts one way or another will affect the vaping heat produced.

It has been recommended on here many times to take a few little puffs like that to get the vapor flowing. Using the sock will probably be pretty beneficial in that environment. Sounds like you should try the 13.5, and maybe add a sock, or koozie on top of that for when more than two people are using it. Along those lines, it has been stated by Rick and others that this is not a "party vape" but if you are up for a little experimenting, I wonder how far you could get towards achieving that functionality? BTW - I've only coughed when the MZ was insulated in a koozie , and hoping that the 13.5 will get the same effects. It's a "good" cough. :)

dit: PS - were you in the cold garage when you had guests over?
Yeah my guest and I were in the garage during the day tho. The garage gets way colder at night.

I knew it wasn't a party vape I purchased this to be used by me n the wife.

Hey Rick-
If you have the MZap hooked up to a circuit that already has a fairly heavy load, do you think using the 13.5 would compensate for that?
Thinking about adding one to my order... :/

Brotherin I would say get it and save ur self 5 bucks. I bought a MZ like a week ago and didnt bother buying the 13.5v at the time. And now im gonna pay 15 for one from rick when I could have added to my order for 10.

But i dont really care cuz the MZ is doing the job for me... now i wait for the 13.5 so i dont have to wait in between bowls.:peace:

^^^ Agreed, I ordered the 13.5 when I got my zap and I'm glad I did. I like having options. The 12 def tastes better, and def gets me ripped, but it doen't pack quite enough punch when I use it with the bong. Don't get me wrong, it's still nice with the bong, but when I have a well heated zap with the 13.5 hooked up and I fully load the stem, I can whitewall my 16" tube and blow clouds that are *almost* as hefty as my SSV.

Also, pics of my zap setup to come, I've been super busy lately, hopefully my time will be my own again soon.

No rush! Thanks for the update.

mnmlh,
So, let me understand this.

Wrapping the MZ in a koozie or tube sock insulates it well enough to keep the temps hotter longer?

In that case, I see a definite market for a new product - The ZapWrap!
Neoprene is definitely thinner and more attractive than the old foam rubber and would probably be the material of choice. I can see offering them with team colors, etc.

I tell ya, my wife knits some damn warm afghans, maybe ... no, maybe not.

I'm not sure about waiting in between bowls, I've never had that issue. But using a sockoozie or beer koozie or whatever does increase the temp to where you get a bit hotter vaporization if you like that sort of thing. Also, don't forget that taking the flower out of the zap and leaving it out whenever you are using it as a vaporizer causes the heat to rise to - for me - just the right temperature. I only use my sockoozie if I want it to heat up quicker because I haven't used it all day and don't want to wait for it to heat up to that perfect temp. It'll still give good vapor even right after taking the flower out, but better - more, hotter - after say 20-30min. imho.

In my search for Neoprene koozies I saw several companies that will print whatever you want on them if you order 100 or so! ;) If someone was willing to place an order and sell them here, (assuming Rick and FC approved) they could probably sell them for $5 each or something and make just enough to cover their hassle. There might be a company willing to print only 50 or so... A brown or black one with a lightning bolt on it or just "Zap" might be a good thing...

But then I think I really like a brown wool sock, cut to fit, best of all!

Because when I pack a lot of stems it feels like you loose temp because of the air circulating when your hitting the vape?

Here is the new ZapWrap just taking it easy with a tasty imitation orange-flavored beverage, waiting for Myrtle to come home.

Has anyone found any adverse effects of leaving the 13.5 volt ac adapter plugged in all the time? Any cracking?

On a side note, the 13.5 volt ac adapter sure makes the Zap look really nice after a nice coat of polish. Better than the 12 volt for sure. :brow:

I've had mine plugged in for quite some time with no issues other than it needing a nice polish every few weeks.

We do not recommend leaving the MZ on 13.5 all the time. Use it for thick vapor, then leave it on the 12 volt the rest of the time. We still like only the 12 volt here in Zapville.
Never used a Koozie either. Howie, I love that logo on yours. KoozOn!

Could be a small chunk of solder rattling around in the bottom cavity? Should not be any "wires rattling" though. We would be glad to look at it and make the rattle go away if you like. I assume your unit is working fine? There is not a "screen replacement" page as you asked about. Are you referring to the screen in the vapor stem or in the heatport tube? Email me with your specific questions and we will go from there.

So sorry to say I missed yesterday too. It will go out today for sure as I have several regular orders leaving today also.

On a special note, I got a call yesterday from an old logger friend. His family homesteaded in this Valley so he has been around for a long time and knows all the old timers. The old timers are fading away regularly. Seems one of them passed on about ten years ago. He was a wood working guy who collected lots of different woods. His wife, in her late '80s, has decided to sell his wood collection and is doing it through my friend. This wood is at least 30 years old and has been stored inside all that time. There are a bunch of "turning blocks" in the collection, many of them Myrtlewood. I have not seen it yet so cannot confirm but my friend says it is all top of the line, special grain stuff including some VERY dark varieties. The blocks are right at my lowest spec for width dimension but I feel confident we can make them work if we are very careful. There are also some other wood species in the collection that we may try because my regular supplier has been getting pushed hard by us over the last few months trying to keep me supplied with the special grain Myrtlewood he has. So this new score comes just in time as we were beginning to wonder if we could keep the wood coming. Gee whiz, I wonder about THAT one all the time!
We will keep you posted and try to get a pic up of some turned blocks before long. He will be bringing a few by Zapville soon. He did say I have the pick of the litter. Some of this stuff is $10,000 per mbf quality wood.

Can the assumption be made that prolonged use of a 13.5v will cause the HE to expand inside the wood to the point where it will be loose if put back on to the 12v. I mean metal expands as it is hot, it would make sense that after time the wood will compensate by giving in to that expansion. Making the inner diameter of the wood larger over time?

only reason I ask is I know if I run my vape on 13v for an hour or so, if I move it back down to 12 the HE will be a tiny bit loose after a short while. I then have to push it back by tapping on the clip.

Damn Rick. You just won't stop until I buy another one, will ya?

mflores213, are you saying that when you cash a stem the unit isn't hot enough to produce vapor in the time it takes to pack another? Or are you packing multiple stems beforehand, and the unit needs time between stems. Both seem strange according to my experience. I haven't pre-packed multiple stems but I have purposefully taken hits and immediately exhale the vapor and take another hit repeatedly to see if I could cool it down. I couldn't do it.

I have encountered this with the MZ I have used... but honestly I think the wait time, for the heat to get back up, is only a matter of mere seconds.
the only way I can think that the heat would be impacted enough to make you wait long between hits is if you are hitting it way too hard.

IME even with a higher voltage, and/or koozie, there is still a tiny bit of wait time.

No problemo. I'm completely satisfied right now, so this will just be icing on the cake. Put me on the low priority list. People who are zapless are "out in the cold" and need zapstenance first.
