@dimildarko Got mine on Saturday. This isn't going to make the wait any easier, but what a beast. Well worth the wait though ;)

I'm yet to find fault with it. My only slight criticism is that the bottom of the unit is the wrong way round imo. The led should be facing you when in use and the USB port should be away from you for using while charging. But the functionality is perfect in every way for my needs. I know you can turn the cooling unit 180 degrees, but still...

Things I love are the coolness of the vapor. For such a small device that really is an achievement. The level of extraction is amazing. All my other vapes tend to very slowly put out less and less vapor so that even though there's still goodness in the bud the time and effort needed to get the last little bit out isn't worth it. With the crafty I don't feel like I'm wasting anything. Lots of thick clouds then maybe 2 smller ones then the bowl is done. No messing around. Also now that summer is on it's way I'm gonna really appreciate how cool the unit stays even at 210c.

I had instant buyers remorse after ordering a crafty but after a couple of bowls I appreciate the quality and why it's so expensive. To be honest it's quite nice knowing that there's a vape in the UK that's actually cheaper here than in the US. Normally we get shafted. Yet another benefit of quality German engineering :rockon:

Anyone ever had connection issues with the app? Just received my Crafty today and it seems to be unable to connect with the app. The unit works fine other than that. My Note 4 is up to date with Lollipop and I tried reinstalling the S&B app as well as restarting my phone. Still times out trying to connect and tells me to try later.

@turbovap strange - I have it running on a Note4 with Android 5 - very close to your S5 - what version of the app did you try?

I also have an s5 and cant get it to work anymore. It was me who commented in the play store about it. The first update I couldn't get to work at all. The second, most recent one opens when my crafty is off (although I still get an error message saying the app has closed) but as soon as I turn on the crafty and therefore make a connection the app dies completely.

mine connects fine. I've also used the vapelog app someone here wrote on my mac. I think there is something for windows users too.

try doing a hard reset by holding down the orange button for 10secs when its on.

DorianGray,
This thing is impressive for sure and the vapor quality is top notch. It's gonna take a little time to adjust to the auto shut off but oh well. On a side note, I thought it was kind of comical that S and B highly discourages vaping around table cloths and curtains...

I tried that as well and it didn't work. I got the "Vaporizer Control" to at least change the LED lights and I assume it will change the temp. But it definitely doesn't display stats correctly, the temp eventually stops updating and the battery percentage is definitely not accurate.

Currently trying to decide how badly I need this app because I hate to mail off my Crafty already when I just got it. S&B really need to get a grip on letting users do their own firmware updates at home. Sort of nutty to have to mail a a unit across the country so someone can do a 20 minute update and mail it back. They could easily have a simple PC/Mac program that download updates and rolls them out over USB.

i think it was mentioned somewhere here that they don't want people messing around with the firmware because it can be dangerous with how hot the device can get.

I do like a previous poster does, I set it and leave it. I don't even look at the battery meter anymore. I blow a bowl and charge it for next time. The only time I open the app is to check how many hours I'm at.

I am running 1.5 , it's much closer (: it works from 10/20 seconds to somtimes 1 or 2 minutes. Was able to adjust led and ramp temp. Was also able to adjust vap temp once or twice before it freezes. The temp readout freezes first then it becomes unusable. I am still able to close it down, so the app isnt completely frozen. I can also clear app data and reopen to get it back.

Same here. I'm experiencing everything you described with the Vaporizer Control app. Does the S&B app work for you? Because I can't get that to work at all. At least with the VC app you get a few seconds of function so you can change the settings before it freezes.

The S&B app doesn't work at all since the 5.0 update. Like you said, at least this one works for a bit.

For those that have had their Crafty's sent to Oakland for service.........

Did they send you an entirely new Crafty?

I sent the strictly the base unit, no filling chamber, no stirring pick.

Are they going to send me a brand new unit? Or am I going to receive just a base heater?

My package arrives at S&B today. Hopefully I'll get a phone call or email sometime today or tomorrow.

Any responses are appreciated. Thanks for your help already guys/gals.

Thanks for the info, I have contacted Storz & Bickel and my unit is on its way to them :)

During the day: 185° C - 365° F
During the eve: 190-200° C - 374-392° F

serial : 0036xx

I believe you might have the same issue as I did...see below

This is what I replied:

Thank you for you answer,

So if I understand fully the situation with the Crafty, every time there is an new update with my phone I will have to send my unit in for update... really???

Can you please explain this to my in details as in today's age its seems so prehistoric that I hope there must a logical reason which I yet do not understand.

Kind regards, Oli

And this is their reply:

Dear Oli,

thank you for your reply.

We intentionally decided to install a firmware which can only be updated and changed by our service center. We do not want customers to change the CRAFTYs firmware due to safety reasons (high temperatures).

We are convinced that there will not be any update issues in the future.

We offer you to pick up your CRAFTY via UPS. If you agree we ask you to pack your portable CRAFTY Heat Base (keep the Cooling Unit top and other accessories) securely. Best would be to use the original box with the styrofoam inserts firmly in place.

If you no longer have the original box, please package itsecurely and make sure it is well protected. Please also include

-your name, phone number, and email address

-a detailed description of the problem

-a copy of the invoice or proof of purchase showing the date of purchase (if you do not have this info, please just let us know when & where you bought it);

Furthermore we need your complete address and phone number to arrange a pickup with UPS. As soon as we get your reply, we will arrange the pickup and get back to you with further information.

We apologize for any inconveniences. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards,

And then came my issue with the red and yellow lights, so pretty good timing really :)

I shall update my post as soon as I have some news...

:peace:

Update :)

Just to let you know I have finally received my beloved back:love:. It did take a good while with UPS, one week each journey from Spain to Germany, I’ve seen faster, I feel like ordinary post is quicker, usually takes 3 days when I send stuff over to my good old folks back in Belgium some two countries away. But hey I did not have to pay for it so I’m not complaining, as such, but I feel that the Economy UPS service might be cheap but its seems as they just keep it a couple of days in the warehouse for meeting the cheap and slow service paid for….sorry I’m blablabla-ing

Anyway I was half expecting a refurbished unit but I received a brand new one in a new box with new colored lighter blue seals…so happyyyyyyyy:rockon:

Running well now on my S4 Android 5.0.1

I shall try it tonight for the first time and also the last night for a WHOLE month , I have breathing health issues, and wonder if the cannabis or the alcohol that I get down my body everyday could or not contribute to my situation… so in order to help myself finding out I shall castrate (well more or less) myself for a whole month so help me Crafty! (If I hold on that long that is…..)

:rofl:Roll on the 6th of June:rofl:

:peace:

Edit: just had a bowl and myyyy myyyy, this thing hits!!! I used my old toys during these past two weeks which I enjoyed but this is something else, they must really be a powerful God called Crafty, that's the only humain possible explaination I can come up with :D

After 26 hours of use, these are the results I am getting:

A) Heats up to 356F in 1:58
B) I can get about two 15 minute sessions before it goes to one bar
C) At about the 10 minute point of a session, the app would tell me the vaporizer is too hot and it needs to cool down
D) I typically vape on 366F for about 7 minutes and boost to 388F afterwards
E) There are times when my ABV is not light brown, but rather a dark green colour (The vapour production would stop at around 5 minutes when it should be going for longer) - It feels like its not being thoroughly extracted

The 45 minutes of usage on the Crafty, does it include the heat up time? Are you guys also experiencing similar results on your Crafty? My model number is CYXX81XX.

High y'all, some observations about my warranty replacement.
Am I imagining the base casting having one less rib up top? The one that breaks.
1st unit bought in November (rip) definitely ran hotter. Dark roast abv, dank clouds.
Warranty sent factory sealed box immediately so that was extraordinarily excellent.

New unit doesn't do dark roast or dank clouds.
What to do?

Honestly sometimes it highly depends on the strain. I have had some shit that put out 3 puffs tops.

The better cured, the better vaped.

Oli you said you were having that yellow and red LED problem? Message popped up on the app saying "faulty vaporizer send it to Storz and Bickel."

Cool, my package was received and signed by Storz. Hopefully I'll have one in my hand again soon.

The thing I miss the most was the convenience factor of setting up a session. Compared to my Cano, Buddah, EVO there's always some shit to plug in, some part/piece to forget, another thing you have to remember prior.

I have to vape in stealth, so having a quick method is really invaluable, and a lot less annoying than breaking out the big guns in silence.

A probably rather obvious tip for the new Crafty users. Especially the ones having trouble getting the app to work for them.

I fiddled quite a bit with my temp settings when I first got Crafty, but in the end, I found that generally speaking I seem to like about the same temp when I vape. Boost is not a big deal to me. I feel like I finish the session well enough without boosting.

So what I do for simplicity, is a set the regular setting ( One click ) for dry vape sessions ( Which is very close to the default setting for me) , and I have boost ( Double click ) set to over 400F for my water filtration sessions. No need to open the app anymore. One or two clicks basicly meets all my needs.
