Fortune cookie says - "thick pile carpet under your feet will be your salvation. A Wong will be your magic carpet".
The closest thing I've got to thick carpet sitting under my vaping chair is a child's play rug with the roads stop signs printed on it for playing with toy cars. I found it at a garage sale and it was the perfect size to put underneath a zero gravity beach chair to protect the wood floors. My wife was the one that thought it would be really fun to use and she was right.

I've been very very lucky, as I have broken a lot of glass, but my three Joda pieces have been really tough and haven't broken one yet. I cannot tell you how many times my first one has been dropped from sitting height onto the hardwood floor.

Hey I broke all my glass GonG's you sent me!
Luckily I had a WonG from Ed's TnT.

PARIS OG! !!! ,,!
I feel your pain. I too know what it's like to experience loss. I broke a bowl, gong, and Wong liner all in one week. Normally I can block them with my shoe and typically soften the blow enough that they don't break. If this happens I shout "kick save & a beauty!". Unfortunately this past week I was wearing sandals twice and had to resist the urge for safety reasons and the other was just a brutally ugly kick. I only have one 14mm adjustable left but have 4 Joda gongs and liners coming in to the rescue! No more hc ones though and I'm in your corner albeit the underdog in the hc vs adjustable gong battle, love em both just the hc more! Have a great day bud and take precious care of your Wong!!! ;)

Put a big throw rug by my chair problem solved.
Still happens no more smash...

My stems & gongs thank me for it.and my wallet

@SSVUN~YAH love the foot save do it all the time. I'm never smart enough to not use it.

Well, I did it. . . . . I combusted with the E-Nano this morning.

I cleaned a bong I hadn't used in a week, and discovered that the Joda Glassworks GonG had an un-vaped load sitting in the stem. So with the bong perfectly clean, I took the hit.

However, I forgot that I had been using concentrates last, so it was set at 8.5-9. It started putting out the milkiest vapor you ever saw right up until there was a fiery explosion and a burst of smoke. At least it didn't make it to my lungs, but I did have to go back and re-rinse the bong with alcohol.

I really could have predicted this. In fact, I knew that I had to pull hard and finish quickly before it overheated, but it happened more suddenly than I would have guessed.

TL;DR: really finely ground bud that is very dried out and vaped at too high of a temperature can and will burst into flame. And when it does, it's your own damn fault.

I'm new to this but it must be very tough to combust because I vaped a couple of time at max (my dial stop at 9.7) and my ABV were dark brown/black but it seems like it was impossible to combust. I even tried to combust on purpose with no effect. Anybody else has the dial stopping at 9.7/9.8?

It is absurdly easy to combust in the Nano if you aren't paying attention. Screen too close, herb packed too tight, anything over 8....done it like four times myself.

Everytime was my own damned lazy-ass not-watching-what-I'm-doing fault.

The Nano is a powerful beast. That's a huge part of its charm. Be careful out there.

The dials aren't exact, mine didn't click "on" until like 2 on the dial. You can carefully pry off the numbered section of the dial and readjust it if it bugs ya. I pulled mine off and put it back on so it clicks on at 0.5 and the dial stops at about 9.5. That's one of the reasons why some people say they get clouds at like 5.5 and other may be at like 7 before they see anything.

As far as combustion, it could be any number of things. Dryness of the herb, direct contact between the herb and heat source, length of time on the heat, humidity, etc. Then there's always the possibility that there's a defect, but I'd say "won't catch crap on fire" isn't really a design flaw lol. But if it doesn't get hot enough for concentrates, that's another story.

1) Your nano is not preheated fully. Set the temperature to 7.5 and let it sit for 15 minutes before you start your session. The wood should be warm to the touch (like a hand warmer)

2) Your basket screen is mounted too far away from the heater. I mount my screens 15mm deep. Which provides amazing clouds with 0.1g. If you go past 8.5 on the dial, you will risk combustion

Regarding the dial stopping on 9.7/9.8. It sounds like it wasn't mounted properly, this isn't a problem, simply subtract 0.2 from any number you read people mention.

Alternatively, you can fix this. The dial is friction fitted into place. Turn your vape off (unplug from the wall!). Then use something to gently pry the dial upwards and off the metal shaft.

I used a pair of these from an old cellphone LCD screen replacement kit:

With the vape set to OFF, re-install the dial, carefully position the arrow to line up with 0. Your dial should now stop perfectly at 10

I combusted 2 times the first day I received my Nano, none since that day. In my case, I believe my material was touching the heating element when it combusted...tasted gross!

Does anybody knows how much time it takes the nano to reach the temperature when we change it on the dial? For example, my nano is at 6 for 1 hour then I turn it at 7. How much time does it takes to reach temperature 7?

Tough to tell. Some people claim 2 minutes. I personally give it at least 5 minutes

Another thing you have to be careful with that probably contributed to @ChippyMalone 's combustion is leaving a load in the GonG. Even if you do only one hit and leave it sitting, you've dried it out a bit and it will probably dry more while waiting for you to get back to it. Make sure your dial is in the right spot and hit it gingerly or it will go up in smoke.

Think it is actually somewhere between 2 and 6 minutes. Depends on your room temp and other variables. Don't forget... takes some time to cool when going the other direction, too.

Depending on your particular GonG and heating element cover, you can rotate it around pretty well unless it is fully seated. Not sure just how effective it is with the small size of both on nano. Seems I still have to stir to get a full toasted roast of everything. I kind of do it more as a playful thing than to try to vape the whole load without stirring, but YMMV.

Either way, hovering is great! Good way to get a real nice flavorful hit before getting down to serious business. I've gotten into the routine of doing almost all the time.

I'd like to know this too. Will this brand do?:

From the description:

"Only pure unrefined beeswax and the finest natural emollients go into Daddy Van's. No petroleum byproducts. No solvents. No artificial fragrances. It's true - Daddy Van's is absolutely chemical free!"

It doesn't mention alcohol so I'm not sure...

Thanks all,

Norman

So does hovering provide more convection?

I dont think much of a difference unless you are leaving it sitting on the gong conduction heating should be pretty low. I think the main difference is you have more manual control over the temperature.

Kind of hard to tell if we are talking about the same thing, I think we are. But to clarify I mean not just spinning on the gong but actually changing the angle. To basically the same degree as the standard SSV. In theory this should make a big difference like it does for the SSV (although stirring is still used, rotating just provides a better hit). Diameter of the gong is very small but still I think directing heat intensity to different angles should make a difference.

I will have to experiment more which will be on thursday night.

hey now,
I'm in for a minimum 5 minutes, I prefer 10-15 min after turning the Nano on, wood is warmer at this point. IMO best results are achieved when your wood is warm...YMMV. As far as the reaction time between the graduated lines, I would expect around a minute or two? Good test for those properly equipped.
