Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

DISCLAIMER: Before I write any more about this vape, you should know that I intend to sell it if vrip and I can work things out. I can say after just one night of use that I want this one in my collection and offerings.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My pipe has the removable down stem. I've been giving it a ten minute heat up just because that's what all the old instructional videos say to do. I don't know the true heat up time, though. But yeah, the taste is right up there with the vap2. And the blueberry whole nugget was an amazing taste. I literally took a hit and said 'what was that?' It is without a doubt a connoisseur experience. I'll be breaking it out whenever I want a treat or to impress someone. That is, of course, after many, many hours of continuous testing!

This vape is unapologetic about being all about the vapor. The entire rig is pristine and has a fragile feel that keeps me focused. Little bits of herb get through the screen and float in the pipe, just like the old days with a bong. It doesn't come in a fancy box or with instructions. It has a louder, chuggier pull than my other pieces. The heat up time is old school and the air flow is in the middle somewhere. But at the end of the day none of those minor grievances matter because the vapor is so good. Every now and then you come across a device that you want to dial in and learn its quirks because the final product is so good, and this is one of those for me. I'm going to enjoy using this one on a regular basis!

Oh man, you didn't!

My pipe has the removable down stem.

They both do! Does yours say PRO on it?

The heat up time is old school and the air flow is in the middle somewhere.

I can live with the heatup time, but you just struck a nerve with the airflow. I now remember that was one of the reasons I parted with it, but back then it had a silicone seal... I found it pretty exhausting.

Almost there...
I had no problems with air flow. In fact at some points it was actually whistling as the air entered the wand!

I have come to accept heat up times and it is of no concern to me anymore! I used to want instant gratification but now realize that it does not always have the best outcome!

I let my wand heat on high for about 10 minutes last night, just a burn in for safety I guess.
After that I dialed it back and got light, amazing tasting vapor!
Turned it up slowly during the session and it just got better and better! I found max to be too hot for my liking. Massive clouds but I ended up coughing up a lung! And we all know what happens to the eyes when we cough while vaping! Instant RED!!

I only managed two sessions last night as it was late already... But the medicated feeling and state was perfect!
No more pain, just a numb warm feeling in the sore areas and an amazing mental buzz!!!

I think this vape with some strong Sativa bud would be very sweet!!

This is definitely a keeper!!!
Once I am all moved in and settled I want to order the rest of the bits to make up a 007 kit!!

@biohacker I used the Lemon Kush last nigh, not usually lemony but potent! With the wand it tasted amazing and I actually had to check that unopened the correct jar!!
Can't wait to hit some Purple Kush tonight!!
And yes, we have to get together soon for serious testing!!

My bubbler does not say pro on it. what's the difference?

My wand came with the silicone ring already on it and I have been using it like that. I can try later to see if that is effecting air flow. But it's not like it is restrictive...it's just not wide open, which I'm fine with since a full on hoover might overwhelm it like the LSV.

I'll tell you what, though...I've been thinking about it all day. I can't wait to break it out again and try some of this purple stuff I just got. It's my birthday, so I'm gonna get full on vripped and make my family watch the NFL draft with me tonight. That's right...I party big!!

No dark spots in the bowl on upper temps? (one of my biggest peeves of the LSV).... ABV colour? Stirring required?

You can definitely wind up with dark spots if you are drawing too slow for how high the heat is dialed up. Generally, it is easy to avoid the dark spots, but it does require you to pay attention to how you are hitting the thing. Stirring is more or less required, as the only alternatives are either browning the top too much or leaving the bottom too green. As long as you stir, it will all "brown" evenly and you can leave your ABV as light or dark as you want

Would you guys say that the VHW is the best tasting vape you've tried? How long is the heat up time? It's been sooooo long since i've used one.

I would say it is the best I have tried, though I will admit I haven't tried a very wide variety. But that is a very personal statement, based on my tastes. In my days of combustion, my preference was taking huge bong rips, and the Vriptech system managed to essentially give me that experience but with a much better taste! But I know that not everybody would agree with my preferences, hence variety.

Heat up time depends on temperature preference. My preference is relatively on the high side, and while I have used it with as little as 5 minutes, I try to always give it at least 10, and find that slightly longer times give me even better results. I use the little glass stand that Vriptech sells, which is supposed to help it heat up faster, though whether or not it does it is just the most convenient way to put it down while it's on.

Little bits of herb get through the screen and float in the pipe, just like the old days with a bong.

Your entire little review was great, though I quoted this line because it was so in line with what I was saying ti biohacker about the "bong hit experience"

My bubbler does not say pro on it. what's the difference?
In the case of Vriptech, the "Pro" is actually the less expensive single chamber beaker, and the PerK is the more expensive double chamber beaker. It seems the PerK is "tuned" to have the right resistance for the VHW, while the Pro is the right amount of resistance for a heat gun.

My wand came with the silicone ring already on it and I have been using it like that. I can try later to see if that is effecting air flow. But it's not like it is restrictive...it's just not wide open, which I'm fine with since a full on hoover might overwhelm it like the LSV.
I'm not quite sure I understand the issue you are describing, are you concerned the silicone is blocking the air path? As long as it is all wrapped around the tip (i.e., none is dangling off the end of the glass) then there is no way it could block the flow.

That said, assuming you have the newest model of VHW and VCB, you can definitely get a straight glass on glass seal that is like 99% as good as what you get with the silicone ring. It definitely takes a lot of experimentation to find the right seal, making minuscule adjustments to the want position and paying attention to the resistance of the draw, and it is never a "perfect" seal because the want is not ground glass. It sounds like they are working on a new version of the wand that is supposed to have a better glass on glass pairing with the new bowls, my guess is they will use a bit of ground glass at the tip.

It's my birthday, so I'm gonna get full on vripped
Happy birthday!! :leaf:

I don't know the true heat up time, though.

Unsure if you're already using one, but heat-up times are fastest when the VHW is placed in a form-fitting stand (like this ~>
VHWStand-th.jpg
)
but a (thick) glass or ceramic container will also work.

Little bits of herb get through the screen and float in the pipe, just like the old days with a bong.

I use a bit of hemp fiber sandwiched between two glass screens (size small for bottom one) as remedy for grinds pass-thru.

Happy Birthday Brother!!!
I am getting Vripped with you!!!

Some absolutely amazing afghani Headband is being vaped in your honour!
@biohacker can attest to it's greatness! I still have one nug for you!

EDIT:: Just finished a session and OMFG!!!
I am not sure but to me this thing produces superior clouds!
So smooth you forget to stop inhaling, watching your herb slowly brown, then the sweats hit you!!
The medication state is awesome!

My only complaint is that i have to tap out after two small bowls!

@Nebu...i went with that same filter placement after seeing that excellent photo!

another night of great sessions. i know i don't remember a lot of it! I ended up using a different bubbler and putting the cloudbuddy in the path so I could have an easier carb. But I could tell I need to clean my glass...the vrip revealed the yucky taste lingering in there! This thing just might motivate me to clean the collection more often since dirty glass will taint the experience I'm after when using it.

@Khantagious I'm fine with the air flow. i was just mentioning what I could do to answer biohacker's question about restriction. he prefers a wide open setup that sometimes requires more manual control as opposed to a built in restriction.

After thinking about it some more, i'm realizing that perhaps the LSV had too much wide open airflow that required a bit more concentration. The airflow in my Mighty is just the perfect amount of restriction (it's pretty open, but not LSV open) so now i'm starting to think that the VHW airflow may not be as much of an issue as I thought.

Really getting stoked from you guys! Happy bday sticks!!!

Just got my VHW a couple days ago and I feel like I can still taste my first bowl out of it.

I'm using an LSV wpa currently but will cave and buy the VCB4.2 bowl soon (especially since I'm excited to use the M2M adapter with my Ev2)

I use a big mason jar instead of the official stand and it works well.

The flavor out of this thing is amazing. The clouds can be overwhelming. My combuster friends are going to like this, if only they made an indestructible version...lol

My only concern so far is the light, which is confusing. It seems to turn off and on inconsistently. No biggie though. Anyone know what the temp positions correspond to? At full tilt its really powerful but I still haven't combusted yet.

Debating which of their bubs to pick up, any recommendations?

I'm pretty sure the light is a bright solid when heating, and then a not so bright solid when at temp. Then it does a quick succession of blinks that tell me it is heating a little to maintain the temp. If I'm right, then the time to hit it is after it has started flickering, because that means it is at a stabilized temp.

I don't know about knob positions and temp, though.

I am leaving my wand set at max for most of the time.
I can vary the vapour and browning just by varying draw speed.
It is awesome watching the herb slowly brown through the VCB!

Once it has been on for a while, 15+ minutes i will turn it down a bit.
Performance of this beast is impressive!
Just let that massive glass heat sink thoroughly warm up and you will be blown away!!
Every time!!

Oh and @stickstones mentioned keeping glass clean for this vape.
I can only agree but have also noticed that my WT does not smell as nasty anymore either.
Either way, this vape deserves clean tools and fresh water!

Yes I thanks so much for keeping the flow family this is Mark founder of VRIP falling on my vapor saber here I told ShadowVape I'd handle FC and have been slacking recently while stuck in the mountains of Santa Cruz more than usual this time of year dealing with local politics gone awry and the challenges of developing in the most difficult county in the WORLD I nonetheless love like no other.

My apologies if anyone got confusing order statuses we are processing, blowing and shipping as usual fulfilling orders in order received for the most part. We have a new Ecomm store up now and the back end has taken some getting used to for the girls who are accustomed to a more simplified (in their opinion) system of just forwarding tracking after an order ships. We seem to have gotten them into the habit of using the new interface now as it is supposed to be used so the customer gets more timely updates, but please feel free to email info@vriptech or call 650.206.2301 anytime to check on order status (they're still forwarding if a customer requests and if you get VM please, please leave a message we will respond). You can message us here too, but we're not on here everyday sometimes so info@vriptech.com should be the quickest response. Also, if anyone tried to use the contact template page on the new site we recently figured out all those messages where getting spam filtered on Shadow's client so there was a delay in response on the first few weeks worth --- this is also now fixed and Shadow should see all info@vriptech.com emails within a day anyway depending upon time sent.

Alright on to the good stuff: yes I.... it appears the dialog I've missed out on is spot on we're unabashedly about vapor quality, flavor and clouds (if it's your thing) and the ability to tune a familiar ritual for superior inhalations. I've been called a vapor snob, flavor obsessive, a clean freak and a glass fiend and many more colorful summations. All true and all factored into what product models we push at VRIP and the approach we take. We never left the functional glass water pipe or bubbler "one hit snap through" everyone gets a freshie ritual we enjoyed in the '80s and '90s behind simply because we went vapor --- we just took that ritual to superior vapor that in our humble and fairly well experienced opinion still hasn't been outdone by any device no matter how many sensors, digital control or otherwise.

The VHW relies on simple analogue heat control and a hunk of thermal mass from the purest of sources (glass) to keep it's tuned temp. The red light will be solid when heating up and then will flicker as it maintains in power cycles tuned to the ambient temp, usage, and potentiometer setting. The human sensor reigns supreme at VRIP today, but we've listened to those that want the flavor, and a brain free experience and might just have something for those folks in the future. Stay posted --- lots of cool stuff in development because I'm back at having fun at work again after quiting a white collar gig to focus on VRIP! And whoever said it's not a full time job I love you for qualifying expectations and while it's true we're not the behind the computer or phone all day M-F types (family run business here), I promise you I wake up, live, sesh, and sleep thinking about superior vapor quality. Take the time to dial into a properly taken VRIP and you'll feel the love and commitment.

Since receiving my VRIP heat wand i have been using my trusty FC-187 bubbler.
Works great, not too much diffusion and milks well.
Only issue is that it's a sidecar, so the inlet is quite close to your face.
The wand gets pretty hot so close to my face and i was not enjoying it as much as i could be.

Then i remembered that i had packed away my Atomic perc rig with the inlet joint facing away from me at 45 degrees!! PERFECT!!
This rig has even less drag and diffusion so the taste is even better!
Can't wait to try the VRIP bubbler!!

And so far each strain i have tried tastes so much better through my VHW!

This deserves to be quoted and liked X10000!! I think this sums up a cult following of purists that had past lives as bong snappers. It's so nice to have you guys from Vrip here representing! I have a weird feeling that i'll have the 007 kit in my hands one day soon....

I hearby declare @lazylathe a VAS enabler!!

I was considering to buy one since some months....you don't help me here...I was trying to persuade myself it was not a serious contender!

What is the bowl size?
Is it possible to use another glass bowl (i.e: combustion glass bowls) or it can't work without its proper bowl?

You know that vape ritual you get set into?
Turn on, choose strain, grind, load and vape? Basically right, right?

Well the VRIP has changed all of that!
Now i turn on the vape, go wash, clean and rinse my WT and fill with fresh filtered water.
Vape is still heating up.
Disassemble bowl into stem, screen and top bowl and scrub clean in ISO, wash and dry.
Re-assmble bowl and grind and pack the bowl.
Place in WT and now we are ready to enjoy pure Nirvana!

The amount of clouds i get is very impressive!
Nice, tasty and dense clouds or light, whispy but super tasty clouds!
Only problem is you don't want to stop!
I do get a bit of uneven growing but a stir always corrects it and the ABV can be anything from straw coloured to dark coffee!
Taste does decrease towards the end and is expected but the wand makes it last a good long time!

Oh and make sure you clean, clean, clean your equipment with this vape!
Primo bud tastes not so good out of dirty WT's!!
:puke:

EDIT: Decided to do my last session at MAX...
Holy cow!! WT was white with thick vapour!!
I can almost cash a bowl in one hit and it is amazing!
Super medication available at this temp!! All pain is gone and the areas are just warm.
This vape has really blown me away!

@stickstones

I just placed my black silicone tip on a few days ago and what a difference!
Perfect, airtight seal every time!

Fast draw speed is where it is at, especially when set at MAX!
I first started out using it like my LSV but quickly realized that the VRIP has a massive glass heat sink and once heated up it does not lose a lot of heat! The glass stand helps a lot with keeping the massive glass tip heated thoroughly.
I still find it amazing that I can hit it very hard and it just milks the WT!

Now I need to order adapters so that I can use it with all my WT's!!

you guys definitely got my attention. I love my lsv and is a great backup to my herbie, but I think this is what I was looking for. As I learn more about vaporizers and that they all depend on user preference, I prefer the strong draw over the slow draw (with lsv). I also would like them to make a stand for the lsv.
Love the glass bowl/screen, no more stainless steel.
