Yeah I'm waiting on grasshopper for precise portable convection temp control (even elevape its not perfect, though it has more variability than firefly with many temps, but all user/draw depending).

But the firefly is so fun regardless, its good to have another vape with temp control so you have it, but the firefly really is a great way to vape, especially a whole nug start to finish, breaking it in between, its really fun to just have a straight fill vape experience for a bowl. A great way to appreciate a new strain as well.

I dont think the firefly is the perfect cover all, but in a line up at least it is a damn fine vape. Especially for sporadic hits, one at a time, it really shines. For low temps, just dont hold the button as long, and dont increase your draw speed too much. Also be sure to stir a lot for that, but really every firefly is different. My first was lower temp, more like 380 max or so, but didn't need any stirring. Really loved that one

Seems like a lot of people are a fan of this vape. Convection vs conduction took a little reading for me (used to have a solo and a pax) both cool in their own way but the pax drove me nuts with a couple different things. Solo was awesome but huge. Hated the draw resistance though.

Due to me being a sipper, little hits throughout the day, this convection style vape is definitely better at conserving herb correct? Flavor from
This vapor is good? Big clouds? I found one on Craigslist that a guy has and doesn't vape so he's selling it for 150, made an offer and am waiting to hear back. We will see:)

Convection is always better between hits, in that respect, since it's preferable to have no heat when you're not drawing. You can get good flavor from most any model, if used correctly, and if you like to exhale big clouds of vapor this one will do it.
he's selling it for 150
Great price, but you'll have to do without the 5 yr. warranty.

Amazing flavor. Sone of us feel that no vape can touch it. Yes, clouds if you want em...can deliver almost any kind of vapor, given practice. Read the last couple pages of this thread, or better yet, the entire (short) Best of FF thread. All your concerns and q's are addressed in those pages.

And as Max says, beware a purchase that doesn't give you the warranty. You may very well need it....FF gen 1s have had a bunch of failures. Been through six dead FFs myself. Still a huge devotee because the service, the company, the staff, the warranty...all worth every penny. Caveat emptor when you don't buy from FF or one of their authorized dealers.

Yeah I started with a Thermovape T1, and then got a Solo months later. Yeah Solo is easy with huge clouds and playing with temps (Pax, and similar vapes usually not as good taste and temps, save for Indica imo, with their pure session conduction designs, I've also had Ascent/FlowerMate/TVape/Imag+/Herbstick Deluxe/xmaxV2 and used Haze and Pax). Makes it a great gateway vape really, bc it eventually leaves you wanting more, at least in my experience since I recently sold mine and my Air, to vapor novices.

Also more recently I have come to appreciate these pure convection on demand vapes more than any session vape really. The T1 was a great starter, got lucky with that purchase, but battery life terrible, it is now a plug in unit for me with the PA and WPA. No temp control but great power and taste, but no more lifetime warranty on even a new one of those either anymore since company folded...

Elevape was next and pretty incredible imo, very impressive once you figure out how to handle its learning curve (some have no trouble, some have very much!) and get it set up for you with consistent results. It is my ultimate quick hit anywhere vape, but like most pure convection suffers from needing to stir nearly every hit. It was $260 very well spent for me, great customer service and lasting product to me. Efficient, super smooth, first hits can taste so incredible...

Next Firefly for $240 with extra battery, and been through 4 total now, and on my second, harsher needing stirring unit (I posted my tweaks to it a page or so ago, have an amazing stirrer tool that sticks to the lid) Still have a working 750 and a new 770. Can get 3 bowls in each ish (maybe a tad less in the 750, tad more in the 770). It was easy to learn, and passing to others including combusters always leads to an impressed reaction. Despite having already been happy with the elevape I use the firefly all the time, its mostly ESV on the go and FF round a house (both in car). Its a very elegant and fancy feeling device, despite the single temp working like T1. Taste is great, though my current one gets more of a hit spot, so loses it like the others, I'd say all even probably really for these units...

Oh yeah somewhere in between there before esv even was underdog, plugin pure convection on demand, can't go wrong with a log. Huge clouds off so little and so smooth through a bubbler, amazing taste et al. (had an LSV for a month, sold it when got UD bc it was too big and too much power, didnt need for groups, like vapexhale cloud)

Finally got Lily (my friend has Daisy, and its wonderful). Torch powered pure convection is also pretty incredible, totally different, and temp control with Lily is carbs/draw/torch but doable. Also amazing through water (see also, Lotus)

Basically, you really can't go wrong with an on demand pure convection unit. Might have a learning curve, or other down sides, but you'll quickly discover that its all well worth the unmatched vaping experience, it is the true transition of hitting a pipe or bong to hitting a vape or vong...

But yeah 150 is solid, just know the warranty will be tricky and is useful to have, unless this guy is willing to help you out and email (or register it under your name if he hasnt yet, maybe give you copy of original receipt etc)? If you can make sure you're covered then all the better, dont wanna lose 150 if it has a problem at some point

Did anyone notice that he assembled it incorrectly? He placed the small black o-ring beneath the metal plate (see 6:12). It is supposed to be above the metal plate, surrounding the screen. That way it prevents material from working its way around the screen and into the heating chamber.

:uhoh:
Perhaps this is the reason they changed the design!
still weird to see such a big metal plate mines like alot smaller :p

Where is the best deal
On this baby

Email firefly and ask about potentially extending the recent 420 sale to you? I think vaporizer wizard aka @BuzzDanklin actually just posted about a bundle sale on his site with extra battery and charger for free with ff purchase...

What was the sale? I've noticed a lot of sites don't even sell it

Ah another example of why warranty is important, looks like I'll be on my third ff sometime soon:

Noticed draw wasn't doing so great yesterday, just cleaning today and noticed that mouthpiece has come loose, and actually pushed it silicone seal back into the airpath, so it was blocking nearly all of the hole. No wonder it was feeling more restricted, and not as airtight now either. So I tore some of the silicone blocking the path so now its kinda clear (but can tell another piece of silicone lower will block it again eventually as it continues to move), but mouthpiece is loose and not entirely airtight now....

Anyone else experience this one? At least you can tell the silicone seems to be very high quality medical grade. I should send in for a replacement, but was kind of hoping to have the Hopper before doing so... I'll probably try it out like this, maybe airier mouthpiece could help with harshness? We'll see how well it hits though I guess, dont wanna end up charring a load and not getting a big hit.

I'll post how it goes using it like this, but I will be contacting customer service soon to explain the issue and send it in hopefully closer to the end of may... Thankfully the firefly warranty service is top notch, definitely make sure you have that coverage when buying!

My Firefly started doing something very odd today while charging.

It will have the blue light fading on and off, then turn solid blue, the go green for a second (power switch on unit is in the OFF position btw). Then go back to blinking blue light for 5-6 seconds, then back to a solid light, then green light for 2-3 seconds again.

I watched it repeat this for about a minute then unplugged it, removed battery, waiting a few minutes, tried again. Same thing. Tried a different battery, same thing.

Not sure whats going on, its never done this before. This is my second firefly (first one got replaced under warranty as the coil was running out of spec and killing batteries) and it has been working great up till now.

Rendar, sounds like you might have to move onto a third FF (unless, by chance, it's a bad charger, but it doesn't sound like it). I never found out if my flickering unit would eventually drain batteries much faster (since FF was eager to just replace it).

My third unit is still working fine; I have had to adjust to drawing in extra air from around the mouthpiece because of the resistance. Got me wondering if FF purposely increased resistance -- maybe to help mitigate the combustion problem? One thing that's certain though, is that this one does not run so cool as the second unit, so I'm glad I finally replaced it. On that one, as soon as I began drawing, the orange glow would disappear immediately when viewed from the top (could only see orange from the sides). This one fades much more gradually, and never disappears entirely.

That is weird. Never saw that behavior before. You have an external charger you can use to see if you can reproduce that behavior? Does the FF actually charge, despite the weird light sequence?

I wouldn't let this thread deter if you are interested. The failure rate is pretty low....you're seeing the vocal minority here....and I've added a lot to that tumult myself.

The service is stellar, unlike any service you've ever received before. If the FF intrigues you, there's little downside to joining the club!

My first did that, and they sent me a new battery. Seems to be batey related, mine started to degrade super fast after doing that the first time.

Meanwhile my ff has been working ok with the mouthpiece issue, just not perfect. I should be able to make it through May though before sending it in again.

Also, sending it in is super simple, free shipping and quick too, great customer service

After I swapped batteries it continued to do this for a few minutes, so I took it off the charger, removed battery, then put it all together again. This time it stopped, got to full charge, no green light. Put the first battery back in, charged fully, no green light.

Ran 2 bowls through one battery and it was still going strong. So at least thus far I dont see any negative performance issues.

The green lighting coming on multiple times while charging just gave me a scare. Well have to see what it does tonight.

Hey guys.. Just sold my EQ and Solo Mk1 to a friend and as such I have some random pennies to spend.
They just never got used anymore.
I have the Minivap you see.
Considering this little puppy as a different portable option.
I'll do my due diligence though and start from the beginning..
Would yous guys recommend I just go ahead and read this whole thing (216 will take a little bit of time) or alternatively I see there's a 'best of' section of threads and the firefly is in there.
Suggestions please.

I'd day do the last 40-80ish pages if you can, and read the best of too

Read the "best of" thread. It's only a half-dozen pages, and all of the FF ups and downs are documented there.

Great Scott!
To those of you who have the new battery style, how big of a difference does it make?

I'm almost definitely picking up another firefly, despite owning a mighty. I just miss it. Also the concentrate pads look awesome.

Pretty much doubles the life of a full charge. I never see a red light anymore, unless I lose track and forget to charge.

Well worth getting one or two. For me, it has eliminated "bad battery life" as one of my FF drawbacks.
