an aside: If you can get ethanol at reasonable prices, use it! Quickest way to fantastic stuff without using some much more dangerous solvents. Ethanol is extremely conducive to large scale production for yourself and beyond because it allows comparatively very long washes - useful for lots of material in one large jar/vessel for the wash.

I think we're looking at 'control' from different ends. To me control means consistent results I can fine tune to what I want. With VM that's a natural rhythm as you say. 'Adjusting on the fly' is fine and all but I prefer this way.

I think it's darn near impossible to combust in VM (the way I use it), something I have no trouble at all doing in Lotus or VG. To me, that too is part of control.

I did get a chance to try a fellows Lotus a while back, it was different and all but I still found VGs easier to control (and get the results I wanted easily), especially the Bronze one. I see the Lotus and VGs as being in the same class, basically. Simple and nice, but not the same idea as VM. I tend to think most everyone who has/tries both ends up with VM over Lotus or VG?

Or not.

Actually I don't. I find it very natural/intuitive. One of the reasons I enjoy it. Very low tech on one side, brilliant design on the other.

I don't think it's fair to tell the new guys it's that exacting (needs a stopwatch, etc.), because it's not the case. You can be stoned past the point of remembering the day, to the point of wondering what your name was, and still get lovely vapor from VM......provided you don't burn your fingers in the process.

To each his own. I'll be interested in how herbivore21 finds it.

I will report back with my thoughts very quickly after receiving my Vapman :D Sounds like getting the station was a good idea because I do spend quite a bit of my time as medicated as your describe @OF lol

Welcome aboard @herbivore21, this thread needs more hash enthusiasts that can fins the best ways to use the Vapman with different hashes :)

As you know: feel free to ask here or in a PM if there's anything :)
Cheers brother :D You've been a great help and your assistance is most appreciated!

I'll be predominately hitting hashes and perhaps throwing in the odd few chunks of shatter here and there (flowers are basically a nostalgia thing for me these days, I tend to prefer concentrates) in my vapman.

I wonder what the best temp setting for hashes will be on the vapman station?

By the way @NorVape, have you used any more melty bubble before, how much hash can one put in a bowl at a time? lol I am lazy and like the idea of putting in a .3-.5 of hash and then not have to refill for a while lol

I've got 12 concentrate screens in total arriving with my Vapman so I'm sure there'll be plenty of experimenting going on lol

I wonder right now on the face of it whether we might try something like put 2 concentrate screens on top of the bowl, then a flat layer of bubble on top, then another concentrate screen, then another flat layer of bubble and repeat for several screens to ensure even cooking of the hash due to added conduction from the screens?

I have agree with OF here. I was looking at both the Lotus and the Vapman way back when and the tipping point to me was that I didn't have to heat while I was drawing. That was counterintuitive to me. But I've never tried the Lotus, so I can't compare it at all.

After I got the ritual down, it became second nature, so much so that I can share a bowl with the wife and get two different temps, for each of us - alternating one hotter for me, one cooler for her, one hotter for me... etc. without having to think about it. I have it down that precisely.

It's such a personal ritual too. I love it.

Let's see how the nodded mouthpiece works, but I made it more out of curiosity because I really didn't feel a lead for it.

Hmmm I wonder if it'll fit in a 14 mm attachment... Looks like it would.

Oh, and thanks @Seren for the nice comments. :)

From all of the amazing feedback here as well as @natural farmer 's comparison of the Lotus and Vapman, I decided to pick up a basic vapman from Vapornation during their 420 sale. It shipped today, but unfortunately, I won't be able to use it for another few weeks. I will make sure to pass on the wealth by sharing my thoughts on it once I get to use it, definitely looking forward to it!

You, sir, are a true pioneer. And a boon to the rest of the community. The youth should draw near and grow wise, but I strongly suspect they're too busy texting...... And Facebooking, Tweeting and who knows what all.

Thanks for keeping us involved. Please let us know how it ends up.

@herbivore21 Well, first off, you're gonna be shocked at how little you actually need to put in it. Most of my friends start by overloading, regardless of their background and understanding of cannabis and vaporization. Some in this tjread refers to this as "the vapman magic" hehe

With the non melt import hashes I put in around 0.1 to 0.2, and that's a fullfillin session. If I really wanna get hammered I'll do two to three sessions on a row, and that's rare.

I have litteraly no experience with modern hashes, but from what I understand you can load pretty much the same, only the material is stronger so it'll probably feel like more.

I recommend getting to know the Vapman with oils and shatters as well. You'll be able to load quite a bit, with out the waste of most pens.

I'm really bad at weighing or estimating modern concentrates, so I couldn't even give you an estimate her buddy, but our friends from the US or Canada could probably chime in :)

@M0J0 no way bro, you did very good, I like how you hit it with fire to add that dark tone, well done! I dig your work, no matter what if you're happy that's all that matters boss!
These compliments coming from @OF and you Ed make my day! It'll be hard to wipe off the grin off my face for the next couple of days. :D

But the mouthpiires done by @simpleasthcis, @bounce5 and the rest of the guys (which were the inspiration) are very, very good! Hats off to them.

I'll let you guys know how my mouthpiece works.

EDIT:
@M0J0I also noticed the heat seemed to make the pins looser. If I could do it over I would have made sure I made the pin holes a slightly tighter fit. I was a bit careless when making the holes. It could be done by hand with patience and care, but the best case scenario would be to use an electric drill for all the holes for precision.
@bounce5, Maybe you can remove the pins and the screws that hold the screen, cut off the end, just above the holes and re-do the holes for the pins etc.

Or, if you don't want to cut it, plug all the holes with tooth-picks and re-drill the holes a bit to the side of the plugged holes. This way, you can tweek it without having to start from scratch.

Peace :peace:

Holy shit this thread is moving at lightning pace! I can barely keep up lol

@herbivore21 you can just jam the middle section into a female 14mm joint or purchase a 14mm wong from Ed. I made my own 18mm cong using a champagne cork and a magic flight whip mouth piece. I'll upgrade to Eds wong when the bank account permits.

I don't load more shatter in my vapman than I can finish in a session. I feel like too much in there and I'll end up with a mess and waste some product. Traditional hashes may be different because they don't melt and go everywhere. Maybe start small and work your way up until you find the maximum load size?

Edit: Just a comment on heating times and control. My vapman and lighter live in my shed (where 80% of my consumption happens) and are subject to temperature change so my flame length varies a bit and so do heating times. I just heat in 4 second bursts and wait for the little wisp of vapor to appear then you know it's up to temp and ready to go.

Edit 2: @vapman I thought earlier in the thread you mentioned something about the middle section section and mouth piece in one but changed to having plastic mouth pieces for cleaning and reclaiming? Maybe I misinterpreted.... or I'm just plain crazy lol

@natural farmer The good thing is that @vapman has said that the torch is still the #1 best way to use a Vapman, so nobody with just a Vapman and a torch lighter is going to miss out on anything but a different and simpler way to heat up the chamber.

So as long as you are not one of the poor huddled masses without any Vapman at all, we are all the same!

That being said, I hope that @vapman doesn't send me a tracking number so that I will not have to click on it nonstop until it gets here! Can't wait! I even ordered the glow in the dark Ash Cache AVB collector for my bedside Vapman station.

The vapman has really become a cherished part of my life. It has been such a joy to sit down with good friends, some of whom had not gotten high in years, and reintroduce them to the wonders of cannabis nature. This weekend went camping and fishing and the vapman was an absolute hit, coming into its own as we vaped and drank Yerba Mate in the streamside meadows.

I also recently got a bubbler, and want to ask you all if you have any tips on how to produce thicker vapor when pairing the VM with glass. Is it just a matter of higher temperature? Plugging up the little air holes? Longer draws? Other techniques?

Thanks, as always .

Yes, push the heat up. Don't be shy, you need to know how deep you can take the submarine.......

I found the 3 holes to be an important part of the design (go figure, it wasn't a mistake???), but by all means try it (toothpick ends work great for this) and see?

Not longer draws (which will cool off at some point) but slower ones can help. Give the vapor time to form. Another tip that can help is watching the vapor stream as it comes out, either by looking through the glass if that can happen or by splicing in a bit of tubing. Great learning tool if you're cloud chasing IMO.

Glad you enjoy the VM, many do for sure. Makes it a personal favorite of mine. Charming little guy, really, doncha think?

And yer welcome, as it should be. Thanks for saying thanks. Good manners are good manners, and getting mighty rare these days......

@OF and @NorVape are on the money. Don't be shy with the heat and reheat a few times while you draw slowly.

I heat until I get that famous wisp of vapor then hit it with another 2 seconds of flame before I sit it on my bubbler.

I can milk my D022 like this, not a complete white wall but close. Sometimes I use my finger tips to block the holes in the middle section but it doesn't help much.

While the VM certainly won't milk my 187 like a Lotus w/ flowers only, I think what the VM does have over the Lotus is in the concentrate department. If I'm using concentrates I can milk my bubbler, but with flowers a light misting of that bigger style bubbler is all I get.

I own a lotus as well. I agree with the milking part you can milk the fuck out of a lotus...but the vapman for some reason gets me more medicated than my lotus ever could.

Nice stem!

I use one long pin, straight thru. Drilled the pin's hole first, then if it's off or crooked, could use those holes instead to mount filter screen.

Never turned wood before, already learned a lot.

I thought about that too: use the original holes for the screen screws if they were crooked - I don't have a drill press and mine were a bit crooked, but good enough that they work.

Using the pin straight through would be easier. That's a great idea.

What did you use for the pin?

Thanks!

@M0J0 Maybe we can start seeing custom center pieces on your site that would be sweeeet...
That sounds good. I was waiting for the one Ed's TnT is working on. He's the master.

Lets see. :)

Edit: I'll post a pic with the Vapman in a few minutes. It looks kinda funny is you ask me. I'd like to come with some shape that compliments the curves of the vapman body much better...
