@grassman I would definitely have to agree with all points you made!

I made a fairly interesting discovery for myself last night, I'm starting to think that it's easier on my lungs to actually hit the mighty dry. I wonder if it's the instant feedback of vapour and/or heat on my throat but using a water tool is causing my lungs some irritation in comparison. I'll be keeping an eye on this because I don't mind smooth dry vapour. Less to clean and less goodies being trapped!

I like the crafty but had some issues with the android app so I was writing my own - it is free and open - you can find it here:
https://github.com/ligi/VaporizerControl
or on google-play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ligi.vaporizercontrol

enjoy!

Nice! Great to see more apps for the Crafty.

I'm also ready to release a 420 update (as in it was mostly coded on 4/20) to VapeLog for OS X.

New features:
- Detects when the connection with the Crafty has been lost and attempts to re-connect.
- Added automated update framework so new updates can be used to users.
- Added system notifications. When your Crafty heats up, a small notification will appear letting you know.

I also recently received a brand new warranty replacement and have dug into firmware changes a bit. I'll have an update soon with some details about software changes that seem to back up some of the findings about heat up time being a bit longer. Need to do collect more data first!

Was tripping out with the Mighty and Crafty last night....realized something with the Crafty when I was fucking around with the app. When people don't know anything about the Crafty, it's so much fun to use the app and trip them out by turning the LED on and off when you choose without their knowledge! :brow:

So nice that the CU's are interchangeable! I think the Mighty definitely has the edge on smoothness.

Both of these vapes impress the shit out of me at 210c through a bubbler! WHITEWALL CITY!!

What makes you say the mighty is smoother? Aren't they same same except for size? How can it be smoother?

S&B has easily the best customer service of any company I've had to deal with. My crafty did not make it to 120hrs, but instead blinking red/orange. It was looking to make the journey back home to the mothership. After less than 1 business day a surprise was in the mail. As well as a brand new unit, some complimentary extra accessories were added to soften the blow of having to use a solo for the last few days. The new o-rings are much softer reducing the strain on the cooling unit locking mechanism, as was previously noted. Not sure if the case was modified to add strength there or not but it definitely doesn't creak like the original did. The firmware update is good for me also since I can now pair it with android 5+ devices where I couldn't before. With over a year and a half left on the warranty, I'm fairly confident any remaining issues will show themselves before that time with my use. The return process couldn't have been easier, no phone calls or emails required, just mail the heater with the pertinent information, awesome. "2 thumbs way up, would buy from again a+++++++++"

My buddy is a fairly light user who bought the Crafty at release, and now has only 14 hours on it. Warmup to 180c is 2:22 which is about right for its age, but far from the 1:45 when new. I'm assuming he will approach 2:45 after another 15 hours or so.

Is the warmup speed to set temp even a good indicator of the Crafty's battery health? Mine at 34 takes 2:45 to get to 180c, yet I still seem to get in the same amount of charges as when new, which is about 3. How bad can it get? Will it soon take 3:30-4 min to get to temp? If so, would that possibly be considered a warranty issue with the battery, or is that not covered? Is this happening because the battery gets so hot? Never have had any shutdowns or errors that my Mighty batteries are getting too.

I love the Crafty, I have zero issue with only getting 3 cycles, and now with the Mighty I don't even care about how long the Crafty takes to charge up, but having a battery deteriorate so quickly is definitely depressing.

I am thinking that when a better battery is built by someone that S&B will integrate it into your battery swap. Will it cost $$$? Yes, but I look forward to this.

The thing I like about owning both is that the Mighty is perfect for the room while Crafty goes down to the beach. Absolutely perfect.

Exactly the way i see it:tup:, although i don't have a mighty, because i have other options the crafty has its place and fits well. This is why i went for the crafty as it was never going to be my one and only that i depend on, i knew even the mighty would struggle to keep up with my usage on its own and with other options it made no difference as to which i got, so i went for size over battery. Now don't get me wrong the crafty or mighty can and I'm sure does get used as an only vape but i get through 0.5-1oz per week so for me it wouldn't work.

This could be part of the reason there is no 'official' battery replacement yet (although its probably more a time thing), maybe they are looking at a battery upgrade already, after all i think everyone agrees that the battery is almost the only weak link, I'm sure S&B already know this.

But i am starting to think there is more going on with the firmware changes than we realise yet with regards to how the battery is handled, I'm looking forward to @Sasquatch_Jr findings regarding this:rockon:

Now this is all just in my head but it kind of makes sense (or at least it does in my head:hmm:) that if warm up time is longer the battery is put under less stress, and by maintaining temp better with less temp drop this would give shorter bursts of power to keep temp rather than one big effort after a bigger temp drop:shrug:
All of this could add up to better (overall) battery life and more consistent heat up times.

Is there like a "break-in" period for a battery? Maybe the battery settles around 2:45 to 180c? Has anyone here experienced longer times than 2:45 to 180c? Wondering if anyone has cracked 3:00 yet...maybe those with over 100h?

Hey,
bought a Crafty today.
How can I tell if my device is a old one or a "fixed updated" version?
What is the 2015 firmware?

Mine is firmware v02.05 and was bought as a 2015 unit from vapefiend, there could be one after this but I'm not sure. And welcome to FC and the crafty club:tup: Let us know how you get on with it.
And if you haven't checked it out yet the best of for the crafty is a good read and wont take too long

Just an update on my random thoughts, mine at 18 hours has an empty warmup to 180°c in 2:40, now this is almost the same as when new for me and even almost the same as a full bowl warmup, although as i mentioned earlier i never wrote anything down so cant be 100% accurate, but this would seem to fit with my theory so far:shrug:.

Now something else that i don't think we have taken into account is the start temp :doh:as this will play a big part in end results, my 2:40 to 180°c empty was started at 15°c, so i would guess those of us in the cold damp UK :lol:will have longer times than those in warmer parts of the world.

This is sweet, I love minimalist interface and the added accuracy of the battery life displayed in percent and an extra decimal for the temp. Thanks for sharing! Finally I can monitor my crafty in landscape mode.

@jdee thanks for the feedback! Perhaps I will add chromecast support soon so you can monitor your crafty on the big-screen in landscape ;-)
Could be a cool party mode - the crafty is warm ..

I am going through so many micro usb cable when charging my Crafty! Every cable I have tried has failed within the first month and it almost always the connection.

I use my crafty a lot, and since I am not the most attentive person whilst vaping I usually have to charge it up mid-session. With a passion for heavy indica, my couch lock movements usually leads to a lot of dropping, snagging and pulling on the cable. Then is break.

Does anyone have any recommendations of good quality cable? or a solution to get around this problem?

Kingly,
Que pasa everyone. It's been a minute since I've posted on here but I'm in the market for another portable (ex has my PAX, not really using my Ascent and both batteries for my Firefly are fucked for some reason) and I'm having an incredibly difficult time deciding between the Mighty, Crafty or the Hopper. Not really concerned about the price, but more so with reliability, battery life (need it to last at least 36 holes of Frolf lol) and concealability. In my due diligence, it seems that the Hopper might be the best option, but I honestly don't know at this point. Not sure if I wanna wait a few months for the GH (don't really care for first runs either) or if I should bite the bullet on either the M or the C. And fuck, do I love this website. Thanks homies.

I just got a replacement unit yesterday and its firmware is v2.06. It heats up to 374F (190c) in 1:53 min. Also, it seems to turn off and on quicker, or maybe it registers button presses more accurately. Idk.

1 ounce a week, you wut m8? lol sorry had to say it.

Yea, that would put a strain on any portable.

how many hours are you at?

I'm at 73. no signs of anything wrong.

Just 18 hours  in 7/8 weeks, but i use it mostly for a few bowls before bed, through the day i use my air/haze/firefly that i have many batteries for, so no charging or chance of running out, i have a SSV and do use it but even when home I'm normally bouncing around doing something so portables suit better.
I have started a wood affair over the last couple weeks though and I'm finding myself using my vapman and lily more and more:love:

And the amount varies but yeah i get through a bit , Im lucky that work looks after itself, i just have to turn up at end of day to check everything's still there and everything got done.

I find the more i have around ready, the more i use, the last few years have been good much better results so there is always more than enough stuff around.

Also i only sleep around 5 hrs a night so that mixed with too much time on my hands makes 2-4g per day easy.
