So, I got the switching power supply with both 12 and 13.5v output setting in a few days ago. For a couple of days I used it only at the 13.5v setting. While sitting idle I kept it at 12v. At 13.5v the vapor is close to the same as when using a koozie. The koozie is too harsh for me, but the 13.5v isn't as bad. Still, I think it's a bit more than I prefer on most occasions. Plus, I was definitely more stoned than high. That didn't help much in being productive throughout the day. Some nights, however, that is exactly where I want to be. And I suppose it would help some when the ambient temperature is a bit cool. It is very nice having options.

I'm not certain, but it seems as if the 12v setting isn't getting the Zap up to proper temperature. The Zap doesn't feel as warm to the touch and I had some trouble getting vapor. I connected the original power supply (12v) again and it worked as I have come to expect. A few minutes ago I reconnected the switching supply at 12v. I am getting vapor from a stem of kif I couldn't finish last night (on original power supply). I'm going to test it a bit more. Hopefully, It was user error before. We'll see.

Hey Rick, how does humid environments affect the Zap? Does the wood keep absorbing moisture?

I would say a humid environment would affect the wood if it did not have a heater in it that was constantly drying the wood. Blocks of wood will absorb moisture but not a running Zap IMO.
We have found that if there is a big load on a circuit in the house, Zaps on that circuit will not get as hot as if say you turn the portable heater off, etc. These are unregulated transformers so other loads on the same circuit affect the temp on the MZ. 13.5 is too harsh for us also. Also remember at the higher vape temps you will get a higher ration of CBN, CBD to THC so a more couch lock.
It seems lots of us like that lighter vapor. Good for working and people relating and just happy.
Moe, you will find the answer to your question soon. Even though we are much busier, I have gone back to production levels of yesteryear so some of my work that would normally be put off is getting done quicker. Stem tip load and follow up draw are the two most importante skills to master with these type vapes.

Just read this on the PD thread, written by Tom:

"Since you (WZ) and Rick (MZ) have decided to collaborate in an effort to attract Purple-Days customers, using a blatant rip off of PD ideas, I think it's fair to collaborate with any and all who wish to do the same to you. Anyone will soon be able to build their own PD. Might even start an International association of PD certified builders.

This may not work out the way you (WZ) and Rick (MZ) had in mind. .l.. lol lol lol"

Nice try Tom. Nice lie Tom. Please stop your derogatory opinions of AZ/MZ and me on your thread.
I will gladly not mention you or your product if you would please show the same respect for me.

My apologies for this to all. I really would like to keep quiet on this subject but some things said about us are just not true.
I want people to buy our product for what it is and who we are as I mentioned before, NOT because they cannot get a PD.
BTW, the kit idea may work but only for a small segment of the buying public. I believe I mentioned something like that to you when you were masquerading as my "friend" and tried to push the idea then.

mod note: thank you for keeping this post in your own thread!

Thanks for the info Rick.

About the Woodeez issue:

In the first post in the PD thread, Tom mentions many shortcomings of the AromaZap and how he improved upon them. Was that an "effort to atract" AromaZap "customers, using a blatant rip off of "AZ" ideas.

Using Tom's logic, isn't the PD a blatant rip off of MZ ideas and the MZ a blatant rip off of Eterra ideas? Isn't any product that was inspired by another a blatant rip off of ideas? It matters not if there are innovations and changes. Those ideas would be original but the main idea for the product was still ripped off. Right? Every vacuum is a rip off of the first. Every refrigerator a blatant rip off of the ice-box. Isn't every vaporizer a blatant rip off of the first vaporizer idea? I understand Tom's sensitivity but I think he is forgetting that he didn't come up with the idea for the PD himself. He took an existing product (or idea for a product) and changed it to suit his preferences. But a heater encased in wood is a heater encased in wood even if one heater is a little different from the other.

Like I said, I'm just using Tom's logic here. I don't think any of these products are rip-offs. But if one is a rip-off, all are (except the Eterra). And maybe Tom's reaction to this is related to the guilt he feels for ripping off Rick. Again, just speculating based on the rationale of ripping off ideas.

And yes, using the PD information on that web site was wrong. And I'm sure that contributes to Tom's feeling that the Woodeez is ripping him off. Highendvapes explained that. One can accept it or not. I can understand why Tom wouldn't.

Hey, it's fun to be immature, especially when you're north of 60.

We did get the correct address and yours will be going out Wednesday if the plan for the week works as it is planned.

So very true. You do get a bit different attitude when you get this far, living a fine life. It is fun except the bod now remembers all my youthful carelessness. Helps to keep moving. Not sure if it is the same when one is young but I am finding some pain that tells me when I must get up, even if I want to sleep in. Get up and the pain goes away. I do get a good 7-8 hrs though with only one get up in the middle. Have to stoke the fire anyway.

dont take my following comments the wrong way I'm just trying to make a decision.

do you feel like the copper used in your MZ's is in anyway a health hazard, or any other part of your vaporizer for that matter? I know going straight to the maker is not the best way to get an unbiased opinion but you do know an awful lot about the product ;)

I don't believe that there is any copper in the vapor path. Maybe you mean brass, eh? If so, let me direct you to another thread: http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=961

I certainly would not make or sell something that I thought was a health hazard in any way.
Yes, there is some copper in the vapor trail but as with the brass, I did a bit of research and communication with knowledgeable people way back in the beginning and came to the same conclusion as with brass. This is a vaporizer. Temps do not get to 400F even. Please read post #532 if you haven't about brass. That sums up much of what has been presented in this forum on the subject by some very knowledgeable people. BTW, is copper bad now too? I thought it was pretty neat stuff.

Yours is leaving this week too.

I don't know anything about copper I misspoke suppose. I had done a search but I guess it all went to hell when I typed copper instead of brass:lol: thanks for the reply. I'll read up on the suggested post, take care

I see we are being mentioned again over on the PD thread. MZ lumped in with Toms latest competitor.

Good job Tom! Believe it or not I really appreciate it.

Hey Rick couldn't figure out how to private message you, just wondering if you perhaps dropped something in the mail to me today. Sorry to ask you for a status update but I am very much looking forward to breaking in my new MZ this weekend if possible. Thanks.

I emailed you(I thought) that it was shipping this week. I can now say everything going to CO has shipped as of yesterday so should be there by Friday. There were a couple to the same state that came in the same time and they both have shipped so you should be covered.

As of now only a few left to go and they should all make it by Christmas. Been a busy week for sure.

Rick,

First, yes - you can keep quiet. This isn't criticism from a noob - just stating the facts as they apply in my case.

Long time smoker here. Based on a comment you made here a while back, I think you've only got a few years on me - you old fart. But, I've never vaped until yesterday. And, it was with an MZ. All I can say, is.......faaaaaak. Almost like having sex again for the first time.

Point is, I narrowed down my purchase decision to the MZ and PD pretty quickly. One can read all day long about supposed advantages one has over the other, but to me, such arguments are trivial technical details. Both products likely function fine for their intended purposes. In the end, my choice boiled down to one thing.

Your competitor spends an inordinate amount of time trash talking other individuals and their products. I've no doubt his product is as great as its reputation suggests, which makes such behavior all the more undesirable to me. He has a loyal and likely well-deserved following, and a backup of sales over two months long. He could do nothing more than take the high road, providing insight into his own product - yet he still feels the need to lash out at others. Conduct and attitude matters to many of us, and I simply couldn't reward such behavior with a purchase.

So my advice, worth every penny you paid for it - just keep building a fine product, and continue to let your satisfied customers speak for you. Simply take the high road, pretend his comments don't exist, and trust that potential customers like me see right through them - we don't need to see your responses to his ridicule.

I'll have something headed your way by tomorrow/Wed. Really have not spaced you. You said no hurry and we were trying to get a bunch of stuff out to arrive by Christmas.

I just got a new batch of vapor stem stock in last week. This is the kind I got one or two times in the last 9 years and I love it. Larger ID and smaller OD. Nicer to hold and bigger Vapor trail path. Give me a couple days and I will announce a FC special for stems if anybody is interested. Need a couple days as I am about out of the clip that holds the screen in place. Few more orders to get out before Christmas too.
