ok so USB is out, so it's either oem cig adapter or a 400w good quality inverter using the stock a/c charge cord. I'm assuming that the inverter would be faster, mirroring what I would get plugged into a wall outlet? The cig adapter should take longer?

I would guess just the same, looking on vapefiends website the car charger is 5v 2000mA and my normal charger is 5v 2A so they are rated the same, although i don't think the crafty charges at this rate (controlled by the crafty) the battery inside the crafty states Max. Charge Current 1365mA
Remember just because something is rated at a certain level does not mean the device will use it all.

I would say as long as you have 1500mA/1.5A you should find charge times the same, any lower like "normal" USB will take longer.

Edit: @Michel same thing:tup: Lets just say different not better, don't want me getting a big :smug:Head :p

They should take about the same time if the charging current they can provide is bigger than 1,5 amp I assume.

If the possibly provided current is bigger than 2 amps it doesn't make a difference for sure!

Edit: I was too slow and unshaven fish explained it way better!

Oli I hope you have as good of experience with customer service as I did. ( other than its very hard to talk to someone in tech support without waiting for a next day call back. ) every other bit of their service felt very premium to me. Including, as many on here have stated, a very quick turn around. I recieved mine back in 6 days. And in my case they sent me a brand new one back because their techs spotted a problem I hadn't even complained about or knew existed! I call that being on the ball!

Tip...if you want or need a real person and you are getting nothing but answering machines, use the dial zero option in their menu. I always got a person when I did. She answers the phone as their "Switchboard operator" or answering service or something. I can't quite remember what she identified herself as. The exact terminology I mean, but she does have the ability to look up your account and see if your device has been looked at yet and can answer other related questions.

Oli would you mind sharing your temperture habits? At 83 hours I'm wondering if you are a "Hot vaporist or not. ( not hot looking. Haha. Not trying to pick up on anyone here!) I've been trying to pay attention to see if using this thing "hot" significantly reduces life span. I rarely used mine off of default and I got 110 out of mine and it was still working. It just had its CU brackets bust off. I wonder if higher temperature uses cause excessive wear and reduce the life of the unit.

My S5 excepted the 5.0 update last night.
I beleive we have to send the unit back for a firmware update to get the app working again. Is this correct ??

I am a new Crafty owner with a problem. I have 4 hours on the meter. I have done about 15 bowls at 360 deg. F. Mostly I have just been cycling the unit, empty, at the max setting, trying to get rid of the anomalous taste. It hasn't gone away. It is somewhat better after the high temperature cycling, but not really very satisfactory. I am afraid that I'm a bit disappointed. In reading through the comments here I see quite a bit of early concern with off-taste, but nothing specific on what to do, other than just use it. How much more do I have to use it, in order for the taste to improve? Is there something I can be doing, beyond what I am doing?

Maybe boil or do a 30 minute or less ISO bath of the CU? Mine starts to taste skanky after 3-4 hours of use.

I would contact S&B if it's off gassing anything other than stinky cooling unit smell.
Mine had absolutly no odd taste new, and mine is an old model # 000545
After reading again, doesn't look like you have even used it with bud ??? does it have 4 hours on it just trying burn off the smell ??

I have gone through about 15 bowls of herb. The rest of the usage hours is the result of my cycling the unit. I have contacted S&B. Their recommendation was to cycle it empty at 410 deg. a few times. I have done this, far more than a few times. I thought that the problem was going away, but now it seems to still be prevalent. I have no prior experience with smoking, and very little with vaping, so I am no expert. But I have used a Vapen with concentrate, so I have some sense of what the taste should be. This ain't it. This is more of a non-organic off-flavor. There is no variation of flavor with different stains, this non-organic flavor predominates.

Now this is just how i see things and everyone has different views but IMO i would stop doing burn offs, i have never done them with any of my vapes and never had trouble with bad taste after the first or second bowl, in fact by doing empty burn offs IMO you run the risk of cooking any taste into your unit making it last longer and harder to get rid of.

Like @Mr Mellish i would suggest an ISO bath/wash (30 minutes is longest i do) then rinse under tap and dry, then running a few bowls through it resins and vapour condensate will seal/cover the area IMO this is all that should need doing, now this is assuming that it is just a "new vape" taste.

If it has a strong plastic taste/aroma and you should be able to tell as i imagine you would be coughing a lung up, there might be something loose getting cooked inside although this would be very unlikely IMO, and you would need to contact S&B.

Give the ISO a try and let us know how you get on.

Oh and welcome to FC  Wishing you luck:tup:

Now i cant say 100% but i think i remember a post about this (not too long ago) and yes someone had to send theirs off for update.

I'm guessing you have tried it and its not working? You could try uninstalling the app and reinstall this has worked for some, it might just need reset after your update (on phone) but you could always ring S&B tell them your firmware and phone os and they should know if you need to send or not.

If I heat the Crafty without any herb, then remove the cooling unit from the body and smell both the cooling unit and the bowl, the bowl and body have a smell that reminds me of the off-taste. Less so for the cooling unit. I'm pretty sure that the taste and smell are coming up from the body and through the bowl. I will do as you suggest, but I am not optimistic that the taste is coming from the cooling unit.

The air path for the crafty starts just above the power button in the middle of the larger tube then goes through a tube straight to the bowl so its totally separate from the electronics and the heater is on the outside of the tube.

If the smell is coming from the body while your cu is cleaning it could be worth giving the insides of the bowl (metal part) a wipe with some ISO on a cotton bud/cue tip, hold the crafty upside down while doing this so nothing drips down into to unit, although if it drips you have used too much ISO a little goes a long way.

While non of this might help its just some things to try before having to send your unit off, the lesser of two evils.

Oh, got it. You want me to swab the sides of the bowl, not remove it. Done. Also, I thoroughly cleaned the cooling unit. I hope this does it. I'll soon know, as the bewitching hour is near...

Do you want me to remove the bowl and clean the pathway underneath, or just clean the bowl itself
Turn the unit updside down and swab the bowl with ISO and a Q Tip.
This isn't normal... You should be enjoying flavor city with this vap !!

Yup, got it. I'm new, and not used to making posts in this format, so I accidentally let one fly before I thought through the instructions I was being given. I now understand, and have cleaned both the cooling unit and sides of bowl. Also, I'll try increasing my temp from 360 to 375 and see if that brings up better flavor.

Just the bowl itself, to remove the bowl to get to the pathway you would have to open your crafty up and void your warranty.

So just the metal sides of the bowl, or if your feeling adventurous you could remove the screen in the bowl that covers the 8 holes and clean that part too but i would try the cu and sides of the bowl first and see if that helps, if it does help but still a little taste then maybe try under the screen before S&B.

I was only describing the air path to help you understand whats under there to cause smell, and that the electronics are separated.

And after cleaning try a lower temp to get some of that natural flavour coming through start at something like 160-170°c.

There is a video on YouTube called something like 'whats inside the crafty' if thats something of interest, but I'm only suggesting this to watch remember if you open your crafty you loose your warranty.

Sorry sometimes i don't explain things the way i want to in my head, i get lost in thought and wander a bit

Edit: Its 5am here and I'm pretty baked:science: so I'm a little slow:lol:

I ordered direct from storz and bickel. after the price drop this vape had to be obtained...
It arrived in exactly 1 day from the time I ordered it!! OMG, never has a vape arrived so quickly, but boy was I excited...

well....Holy hell my friends,,,
my my is the crafty such an amazing vape.

I have never gotten this level of extraction from ANY vape I have tried (and i've tried many high end ones).

Love the ease of use, the size, the connection to phone, the vibration indicator, the light indicator, the chamber, the mouthpiece, everything is just soo perfect. If the battery was changeable, this would be a no brainer.

This is the best portable vaporizer experience I have had. It is just incredible!! Never would I think there would come a time when technology would surpass mankind. well damnit, storz and bickel has done an amazing job at constructing a vaporizer that is highly functional, easy to use, sturdy! (i threw mine 5 feet onto hard wood floor and not a scratch on the vape), and backed by a wonderful company.

More to come!

Aw man that sucks!

What's the serial of your unit?

serial : 0036xx

I believe you might have the same issue as I did...see below

Anyone out there with Android 5.0.1 and a samsung S4, since updating my phone yesterday, it does not connect to the app anymore :cry::cry:

For what is worth, and if it has not yer been covered yet, this is Storz 's answer:

Service time will be prompt.Based on your description we expect the service to be free-of-charge.

Please send us:

This is what I replied:

Thank you for you answer,

So if I understand fully the situation with the Crafty, every time there is an new update with my phone I will have to send my unit in for update... really???

Can you please explain this to my in details as in today's age its seems so prehistoric that I hope there must a logical reason which I yet do not understand.

Kind regards, Oli

And this is their reply:

Dear Oli,

thank you for your reply.

We intentionally decided to install a firmware which can only be updated and changed by our service center. We do not want customers to change the CRAFTYs firmware due to safety reasons (high temperatures).

We are convinced that there will not be any update issues in the future.

We offer you to pick up your CRAFTY via UPS. If you agree we ask you to pack your portable CRAFTY Heat Base (keep the Cooling Unit top and other accessories) securely. Best would be to use the original box with the styrofoam inserts firmly in place.

If you no longer have the original box, please package itsecurely and make sure it is well protected. Please also include

-your name, phone number, and email address

-a detailed description of the problem

-a copy of the invoice or proof of purchase showing the date of purchase (if you do not have this info, please just let us know when & where you bought it);

Furthermore we need your complete address and phone number to arrange a pickup with UPS. As soon as we get your reply, we will arrange the pickup and get back to you with further information.

We apologize for any inconveniences. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards,

And then came my issue with the red and yellow lights, so pretty good timing really :)

I shall update my post as soon as I have some news...

:peace:

Received a call back from S&B a day after I left a voice mail regarding the upgrade to Mighty. Not possible, unless there is an actual issue with the Crafty and it's on a case by case basis. Very professional and I was impressed that they even called me back considering some of the horror stories i've read here. Seems to me like S&B have awesome customer service!

i tried this few weeks ago - upgrade from crafty to mighty. I ask SB if there´s any possibility of paying the difference in price and changing crafty for mighty but the answer was the same as for you. These ex-changes are forbidden because of theirs intern politics of something like that. After that i tried to ask them if they cant take my crafty and use is as a warranty replaceable one for someone but the answer stayed at NO! I have no other chance then sell my lovely crafty underpriced and get mighty.

Thanks. When I saw no easy way to remove the bowl I went back and re-read what you wrote and saw that you were just giving me some background on how the device is designed. In any event, that took care of the problem. Much better, off-flavor gone, thank you.

I am now entirely satisfied with the Crafty. Battery is a non-issue for me, as I am a light user. What I appreciate is the obvious quality of the design and build, as well as the fact that it is idiot-proof. This is my first herb vaporizer, and there is just no way to screw up the operation of it. I really like having the full range of strains to work with, rather than the limited concentrate choices.
