Rosin Technique....Easy DIY Solventless

Interesting, I thought I read several in here with opposite results. I've yet to try rosin myself, so can't comment with my own experiences. Soon though!

yeah I very well may have said something similar myself a while back. but after pressing out close to an oz of flower, my perspective has changed.

Check out my banger after a dab of rosin (right side) and bho (left side). Dabbed the rosin first and then reheated for the BHO dab, and there was a still a ton of rosin residue leftover.

and that's even from some of the cleaner rosin I've made (stardawg, 15% back on the first presses):

I just pressed one of my VG based tinctures two days ago with a french press and thought about all the good stuff that could be left in it so I tried the cloths iron with the saturated material/waste product and god damn did I get a lot back! I sucked it up and filtered with a filter syringe and compared by vaping with an RDA and it was stronger than what was in my finished 60 day tincture. Potency, aroma, everything. Haven't decided if I want to make this a private reserve and be selfish or try and enhance the potency of my main batch.

so while the rosin tek can provide super quick and solventless extraction... the return is not as "clean" (obviously no solvents) as a well run blast or wash...?

Food for thought with regards to some people's rosin feeling harsher vs others.

For those who are finding rosin is harsher than their bho... Do you notice your rosin is quite green? Even average BHO will have almost no chlorophyll in it in my experience. I can honestly say I have no seen any BHO ever have a noticeable green tint to it.

Presumably, the green is coming from the nature of this extraction. That is, smashing the life out of the buds and also presumably enabling the chlorophyll to come out into the rosin. I'm pretty sure this can contribute to harshness and can be responsible for residue on the nail.

I'm not suggesting the harsher rosin is inferior. Just throwing the thought out there. I could be quite wrong but I've just noticed the "smooth" rosin comments associated with light brown and highly translucent rosin vs green rosin when folks mention the opposite.

Definitely possible. Although I've had some green tinted BHO before that's surprisingly smooth and tasty.

I think the biggest source of harshness (for me at least) is physical contamination. The rosin pressed w/ a screen is noticeably cleaner-- my theory is that trichome husks that are normally trapped by a screen get spread throughout the rosin. The only time I had BHO that was similarly harsh was when I blasted with a coarse screen-- that presumably allowed a bunch of microscopic contaminants through.

Has anyone in the thread tried rosin in a pen? If so how did the atty handle the contaminants?

I'm still loving rosin. Pressed some Grape Ape last night and it tasted amazing. I don't have a clear banger just a titanium nail that's already pretty dark, but from what I can tell my rosin never leaves anything behind if it's clean and doesn't have visible plant matter in it. Especially the 45u bubble hash rosin I pressed through a 25u screen - probably the cleanest dabbing concentrate I've ever had except for maybe some CO2 oil.

Edit: Just pressed some OG Kush too and the smell is unreal. 1.7g in and roughly .25 out.

Dabbed that whole glob and I can't remember the last time I was this high. I had to lay down it was so intense. Also the flavor was absolutely incredible, tasted exactly like the flower just extremely concentrated.

Awesome. First pic makes me hungry. Second is trippy...is it owl eyes or a purple spotted insect? Obviously, the rosin is working over here.

Pressed some Blue Dream. Yield wasn't the greatest but it's really shattery like the Kill Shot I posted before. 2.6 in and .4 out. It smells incredibly strong.

Never above room temp for even a second and it's still that shattery.

Great Scott!
^All looking very yummie!
The Rose tech group on FB disappeared sadly...
It's not very well suited for information dispersal already, doesn't help when the narrowminded folks at FB take offense at the wrong things.
:(

Facebook is shit, and IMO most social media is too. I don't know if forums count as social media. I like CONCRETE and SEARCHABLE forms of media. None of this check it out on instagram, so you can never ever find it again in the future without doing a ton of work garbage.

After getting my hands on fresh herbs I tried the Rosin-Tech again, with great success!

Here is my setup:
1x remington pearl straightener
1x sheet of brown backing parchment
1x jar with 2g frosty orange bud
1x small boveda 62% pack

I've broke the buds into 0.1g-0.2g chunks and put them in a jar with a small boveda 62% pack and stored it for 2 days just to stabilize the humidity variable.
Today I cut the parchment into 20 little pieces and set the remington to 160°C.
Folded a parchment once and put the herb in the middle and pressed fast and hard for 4 seconds with the iron, quickly removed the parchment afterwards and let the compressed herb slip out.
Repeated until all flat.
Scrape it all up with a knive and cooled the knive with the rosin in the fridge.
After 10 mins the rosin was rock solid and I could drop it as a whole on a clean parchment.

first press: 2g input = 0.16g clean and lightly colored rosin
second press: already pressed nugs as input = 0.07g clean and lightly colored rosin
third press: same nugs again but now with 180°C on the iron = 0.12 clean and sticky dark rosin

only vaped the rosin of a first press 0.1g nug in the crafty on 210°C and liked it. was slightly harder hitting then vaping the bud but shorter in duration, instead of feeling the high for 2hours it was gone after 1hour.

now i got 3 different presses to compare and 1.6g of flat buds, nice times ahead :D

before I give it another try I need to replace the knive to collect the rosin and get a nice container for the rosin. Also I wonder if I need to replace the baking parchment with the white standard parchment, any idea if this is a difference?

So far a very easy method if you can bring the patience to handle the sticky stuff, awesome!

Edit: vaped a 3 times pressed bud and still felt effects from it, curious if these was the pressed herb or leftovers in the oilpad...

Your shit is too amazing. Its giving me an inferiority complex about the buds I get.
Haha one of the things I like about cannabis is no matter how good what you have is you will always see or find something better.

I look at some of what the private growers post from around Denver and the Springs and my mind is blown pretty much every time. There's this guy on Instagram named @therealpurpsmcnuggets that grows some of the most incredible looking cannabis I've ever seen.

Edit: In my last post when I said never above room temp I meant never below, as in I never put it in the firdge or anything.
