FC Meet Up, 2016 Cannabis Cup, somewhere in CO

We're back! What a trip!

@lovinlivinlife, we also went to Mindful and got some Purple Grimmace Cookies shatter and one of the infused punches.

Too exhausted after a day of traveling to post up much but I will tomorrow. It was a very.... interesting experience. Unfortunately edibles got the best of Mrs P two days in a row so I had to reel it in to keep an eye on her.

Okay, so day 3 of the 420 trip of my life started at 4:20 (am) on 4-20 and I am officially calling it over as of now. (Almost 4-22!)

Met up with @c76man for breakfast and to my delight a loaded Mighty with some killer Blue Dream. We then headed to the cup and after a few more Blue Dream trips with the mighty (and some concentrate vape hits mixed in, you know, for science) in the recreating area, met up with @Silver420Surfer.

Quick run to the one of the vendors to pick up a glass straw and off to dab land we go to see what multiple Live Resin Orange Ghost and Banana Kush dabs can do for a person?


Most of the rest of the day was spent hanging out with 2 of the most knowledgeable and friendly people I have met in along time. (Not to mention dabs, free dabs, more Mighty, Glass Slipper Hercules rips, 300 some odd mg's of edibles, and some pure THC drops )

Extreme knowledge example - @c76man handed @Silver420Surfer his Mighty for the first time and he takes one pull off of it and says "mmm, Blue Dream"

@Silver420Surfer - If you have a hard time finding a job in the industry out there, then the industry is doing it wrong. The knowledge you possess will be an incredible assett to whoever is lucky enough to put you to work.

Thank you guys again for meeting up and hanging out. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip.

After splitting ways with the FC crew I decide to stop at one more Dispensary to pick up an edible (Peanut Butter Buddha Bar) for the trip home and I proceed back to the hotel to fulfill my traditional night before leaving binge to see what I can finish......

Don't really remember going to sleep and or waking up but I am pretty sure I did because at some point I ate that entire Buddha Bar and still got on a plane and made it home!
420 weekend 2015

Wow.. what a trip.

I apologize I wasnt able to meet up with you guys. Mrs P went nuts with the edibles and got into some fudge Sunday that pretty much sealed our fate for the rest of the trip. The guy at the booth that had the sign that said "We have The Clear!" all the way in the back sold her a piece of fudge and I dunno what was in it but she was wrecked for 2 days. We had to leave the Cup early on Sunday because she was having trouble standing up and she is a pro with edibles so this was unexpected.

So anyway, we got in Friday afternoon, checked into the hotel and went to Native Roots which was just around the corner from the hotel. We waited in line almost 3 hours to finally get to the counter and talk to a Budtender. We bought a gram on Maui Wowie, a gram of what was supposed to be shatter (Dude sold us the wrong stuff) and some edibles and we headed back to the hotel to sample our goods.

Saturday morning we headed out to the Cup about 9:00. We got there, parked without incident and got in the VIP line. We were with a couple of people from New Mexico and one from Maryland that we would run into multiple times over the next couple of days. The non VIP line was absurd.

About 11:30 they started letting VIPs into the building. At noon-ish, they opened the lines up at the VIP entrance and we decided to forego picking up our merchandise in favor of heading right out into the show. We literally were one of the first 10 people to walk through the doors at the Cup and were immediately sent back outside by security. Apparently they had gotten the all clear before it really was all clear. So we waiting in the hallway with a bunch of other people listening to them complain constantly about having to wait.

When we finally got in, people were running to get outside to the dab lines. We started inside, looked at all the vendor stuff in there, talked to a few vendors like New-Vape and then headed outside. We got into dab line after dab line.. went by the Happy Daddy booth and met those guys.. wandered over to another dab line and waited in line there for a bit. The guy in front of us almost barfed up a lung when it was his turn so I was a little concerned. Mrs P went first and ripped a huge dab through a recycler, stood up, exhaled and turned around to see everyone behind her's eyes wide open. One guy was like "Wow, shes a pro!"

We wandered around some more, talked to mainly people that made extractors.. I was hoping to find something for home use. Unfortunately I didnt really.

It was right about this time (Probably about 3 PM) that we noticed a phenomenon that we would refer to as The Waling Dead Syndrome. People were so fucked up, they were just mindlessly moving through the crowds, glazed over look on their faces.. Im sure it was from too many dabs. Anyway, with the overwhelming smell of pot EVERYWHERE (And I never thought that would be a bad thing), we finally had had enough and left for the day. We went to Voodoo Donuts from the Cup and went to a dispensary right beside Voodoo Donuts and picked up some more edibles and some Purple Alien shatter. We went to a few other dispensaries and picked up some goodies there too.. some Live Resin, some Purple Grimace Cookies shatter and some hydrib oil. It was all pretty tasty.

Went back to the Cup on Sunday... I wasnt feeling all that great so I was straight when we got to the Cup. Went over and talked to the New-Vape guys. One of the people there was the owner and the other was a young kid who was one of the machinists. The kid was pretty cool, the owner guy was kind of a dick. I bought a new nail and a grinder from them. I talked to the kid for a bit, tried to talk to them about the adapter Ive been trying to get made to vape flower with an enail but the owner was too busy talking over me to listen so I just left.

Went out into the show and we were checking out the booths. I talked to every single vendor there selling extractors. I was hoping to find something affordable enough to buy for home use. I think the cheapest one I found was $3000.00. We went to the back where they were dabbing The Clear the day before, talked to a dude there and thats where Mrs P got the fudge. After she consumed the fudge, we went back up front, took a couple more weak dabs, she bought a Nectar Collector and it was getting near 2 and we wanted to sample The Clear so we started making our way back to the back of the lot again.

It was about this time that the fudge started to kick in. We walked a little while and I hear Mrs P say "Man, Im REALLY fucked up" and I stopped to think about what she had consumed and figured if she was this fucked up already, it was going to get way worse because that fudge was just starting to ramp up. So we bailed at that point.... never did get to try The Clear. Went back to the hotel and Mrs P slept from about 4 oclock in the afternoon to pretty much the next morning. She would pop awake every so often while I was watching TV but she was pretty much out of it for at least 17 hours.

The next day we got up and I was informed she wanted a REAL breakfast today so we went to a diner and had an excellent breakfast. Afterwards, we headed up to the Cup but it was an absolute zoo. I dont know if it was because it was actually 4/20 or because we went later but I was told by multiple people they expected Monday to be considerably less packed.

After sitting in traffic for two hours, I got to the exit, went down the street, turned around and came back up and tried to turn into the VIP lot and they wouldnt let me in. Told me they were full. They tried to send me to some offsite lot and be shuttled back. But to do this, I had to once again go up and down the street and that was taking about 40 minutes so I just said fuck it at that point. I really wanted to go the last day. I figured if there were any deals to be had, the last day would be when they showed up. I really wanted to go see Snoop too but I could tell my wife was pretty much over it so I just dropped it and sucked it up.

All in all it was a pretty good time. Denver itself was a lot more dumpy than I was expecting. Im sure there are nice parts to it but we never saw them and we were out and about quite a bit. Everyone at the dispensarys was nice and knowledable.. Id rate my experiences as Starbuds being our best visit, Natues Cure III was really good as well. We went to Frosted Leaf but didnt buy anything. They had good prices, the girls were very nice and the facility was nice, they just didnt have exactly what I was looking for. We went to another place on Cofax, I forget the name of it but we got some Purple Grimace Shatter there and a Canna-Punch. Nice place and the girl really knew her stuff. My worst experience Id have to say was at Native Roots downtown. The line was SOOOO long.. It took us over 2 hours just to get down to the bottom of the stairs. Then they put you on a couch and when room opens up, they bring you into the shop. What we didnt realize is that once you get into the shop, there's ANOTHER line you have to wait through. We got there at 3:30, we walked out at 6:50. We got what was supposed to be some shatter (Guy sold us wax by mistake), some edibles, a disposable vape pen with some Snoop Dog OG liquid for it, a gram of flower and a dabber.

The long lines and the kid selling us the wrong stuff is the only reason im rating them the worst. The people were friendly and their prices werent out of line but after standing in line for 3 hours, I wasnt expecting to show up back at the hotel with wax instead of shatter.

To sum up the whole experience, I guess id say I was expecting it to be more of a tradeshow enviroment than a "LETS GET AS STONED AS WE FUCKING CAN!" environment. I was hoping to learn a lot more about the industry.

@PoopMachine --- You definitely saw me then, after 350mg+ edible binge, I felt like one of those people you mentioned above. Also, the "pot" smell. Maybe because I vape/dab exclusively I forgot how "thick" and "heavy" a smell combusted cannabis is. I was WAY over that smell midway thru the day.

@lovinlivinlife -- Thank you very much for the kind words you posted above. I hope a prospective employer sees the same thing that you do. At the risk of letting a little ego show, it feels very good that someone I consider a "peer" recognizes my love/knowledge of all things canna. Hanging with you guys was the best part of my Cup experience.

@c76man -- Really loved that S&B Mighty, first time trying one and I really liked it. Top notch portable in my book. That may be the device that can help even out my flowers to concentrates intake ratio. Really enjoyed hanging out and shooting the shit. Definitely got to get together again for some sessions or just chilling.

I'll add more to my Monday at the Cannabis Cup in a bit. Probably could read my last year review and not much difference. Meeting new people this year was my highlight.

SWIM received a care package from Denver today

Well, I don't have a whole lot to add that hasn't alreay been reported by others in regards to the cup. But I'll throw in my impressions.

Local cannabis media reported that 4/20 (Monday) was the highest attendance day at the Cup by far. (BTW I think it is really cool that the local papers have dedicated cannabis staff) The crowd definitley swelled as the day went on up to about 4:20.

@PoopMachine I definitely had a couple points during the day where I felt a bit over medicated and was just wondering through the crowd.

For me, the great conversation and company of @lovinlivinlife and @Silver420Surfer made the experience a memorable day. Those guys are some quality folks and fun to hang out with. We shared some great stories and quality samples from each others stashes. Since none of my local friends wanted to go, it was great to hang out with some new FC friends. Random wandering and conversations made for a great day.

I found the cup to be a weird mix of pseudo trade show, mixed with people there to consume as much cannabis as possible. Especially weird since I've been to a variety of expos/shows at that venue, many family oreiented. The Mart is not your high end convention center; it's getting pretty old. However, being from Colorado, it was nice to be at a venue where you could consume freely throughout with no worries. Most public events don't allow open consumption as freely, so it was nice to not worry about stealth at all.

I was impressed with the number of seed vendors, and it almost tempted me to start growing.

I agree with others that the cannabis smoke cloud got a bit annoying after a while. I guess vaporizing will do that to a person.

On a personal note, I was reminded of my low tolerance. My tolerance has always been fairly low (I suppose that is just my body chemistry), which saves me in the pocketbook, but I got left in the dust by the pros.

I didn't think the lack of dispenary samples would be a big deal, and there were plenty of samples to be had if you wanted. But looking back, it would have been nice to see more local dispensaries and their products to find what I might be missing in the local scene.

I brought my Mighty, Persei/Hercules, and my Haze. Never actually got around to pulling out the Haze. The Mighty and Persei had me covered, so I felt no need for the Haze. Not sure how it's going to turn out, but my Mighty is dominating my vaping these days because it keeps blowing me away.

Edit: One last parting thought. I think I will rely on public transportation, über or the like if I attend again. I ended up cutting myself off to sober up for the drive home, so I missed out a bit at the end.

whew, that was one hell of a trip! We stayed up in Evergreen which is beautiful, but also received >2 feet of snow the night before we arrived. Our rental Sonata handled it beautifully though, and there is no shortage of jaw dropping scenery in the area. I cant count the number of times i said holy shit, that is awesome. We only planned on going to the cup for sure on Sunday, but decided to go back Monday about halfway through the afternoon. I personally loved the mix of trade show and 'lets get as stoned as possible' and thought it made for a great vibe. I had that damn song from Charlie and the chocolate factory running through my head most of the first day, it is was so fitting to how i felt when we arrived. There was definitely no shortage of free dabs if you wanted (enough for us to buy a mouthpeace, which is a cool idea but i dont know if we will ever use it again other than next year's cup...) We sprawled out in a good spot in the auditorium early for the awards show and mass smoke/dab out that quickly ensued.
On Monday I couldnt pass up a nice ceramic nail and carb cap for $15, then I saw the 710whip booth at the back that I must have missed in the smoky haze on Sunday. I have been watching this product since it's inception, but have not bought one because I was not sure it could deliver strong hits like we are used to. I checked out a lot of the enails for sale @ the cup, and the vast majority were far too expensive for what they were IMHO. I grabbed the wife, and we did a dab (or few) each on the one they had set up. Happily, delivered more than thick enough hits and the taste was out of this world. Needless to say, I was sold for $100 and am still a very happy camper...
More to come as I have time and remember, the whole time was a sativa based blur

Did any of you guys get to see that rechargeable wireless bong in action? It was very iPhone ish and aesthetically pleasing, but they only had a prototype and it was having issues when I checked it out.
Also, there was a $5 byob rosin pressing booth that piqued my interest. We waited in the line for a while, but something "squirrelled" us and we never made it back

I saw it and talked to the guys for quite a while. I have a flyer for the thing around here somewhere, I just cant find it. I remember it started with an S. I have some of their dab mats.

Thing looked pretty cool but the price tag was insane. They wanted $420 for a "show pre-purchase" and said the regular retail would be $750.00. Im sorry but its just not that cool.

I also asked them if it was made in america and they laughed and said "We dont want to sell it for $3000.00"

Truthfully, I dont have high hopes for it. Its sort of cool but I cant see any situation where Id want one.

All of the above is true, but in denver, on 4-20 weekend, @ the cannabis cup, a joint or two is hard to avoid (it IS the holidaze). As a matter of fact that green container in my first pic was a joint of hong kong diesel that was on sale for 4.20, and it was well worth the price just to spark it immediately upon walking outside at the cup. Tasted like pure freedom!

I havent reached snob status yet~i would have hit the joint.....

sounds like thats your opinion.
We all said "fuck combustion" for health reasons and most of us have this site to thank for that.
However, an occasional joint in moderation isnt going to cause any health issues.
I personally throughly enjoyed that Joint of headband and i vape everyday,
Its two different experiences, if you truly don't find enjoyment in smoking anymore, cool!
But other people still do on occasion and theres nothing wrong with that.

Options are great! The plant is our first love!

I don't mean to bring a dead thread back to the top, but I plan on attending the Cannabis Cup in Denver next year (April, 2016). Having never attended such an event, I have some questions.

What steps should I be taking now? What should I plan for in the coming months?

Should we just start a new thread?
