Because it is conduction it's recommended to use a corse grind not packed too tightly

Funny because I recommend to pack (ie tamp) the load in all conduction vapes, in order to maximize the contact surface area with the bowl walls, compared to convection vapes where you want it looser to allow more air flow and turbulences.

At least the "puck technic" works in all my conduction vapes and it's easy to verify: start loose and test, then tamp and re-test. I see thicker vapor in all cases, at the cost of some slightly more restricted draw.

@kushbury yeah usually conduction-finergrind denser pack, convection-course and loose. And your using more in your Solo bowls too? That's surprising... (Also try soaking the silicone mouthpiece in iso over night, gets rid of the rubbery taste, also coconut milk is great others on here say)

However @KeroZen I'm having mixed results with the puck method, the issue is the herb flying up to the top of oven, like in FlowerMate, but maybe worse bc this oven is longer. I am thinking maybe a ceramic screen could be included to place on top of the load to keep it tight and packed for maximum clouds and efficiency for smaller loads.

However I intend to try it with a courser looser pack tonight to see how that does. Also so i can determine which hole size is the best for the metal filter, regarding airflow, cooling oven during a hit, and Scooby snacks.

Taste is definitely much improved, and durability is still really excellent. This is one the most durable feeling Chinese units I've ever handled. Feels like a Thermovape T1 in hand (but yes, it is a little heavy as a result)

@hi_there it is not quite ready yet, at least to make sure you have the latest version. Vapefiend has the Storm, which is closest way for sure probably at the moment, but Topgreen is gearing up to send several review units very soon. I am hoping they will have a direct point of sale ready at that time as well. Price should be $100 or less but we'll see

So where did you get it and what was the cost?
I picked up this one through ruffhousestudios.com for $99 (came with an extra battery and external charger). It was the only place that seemed to have the pro version. Shop process was great! I suspect the pros will start popping up in other places soon enough.

Just tried your tamping down method and I like it better! Thanks for the tip!

I also edited my post above a little, added some more reply to your write up (which was a great job btw). Welcome to the community, hope you stick around!

Ah yes Topgreen told me Ruffhouse was the best place to buy for now, just make sure to email them and inspect the unit @hi_there to be sure you have the Pro (which this still may not be the latest latest Pro, as I said)

Also @kushbury just an FYI try not to post back to back, you can edit posts and also use the quote feature to reply to multiple posts in one post of yours.

(Can be tricky to do after the fact though, especially on mobile.... A little help mods?)

So I did a full review with a video that can be found here; http://www.kushbury.com/reviews-1/2015/4/24/the-x-max-v2-vaporizer

Thank you FC as you all inspired this purchase waaaaaay back in February. I'm glad to be apart of your community.
I have just acquired the new XMAX V2 off a well known auction site £39.99 and i have to say i am impressed endless vaping with the changeable battery and very good vapor quality i like it as much as my Flowermate V5.0s

I also purchased a Smiss VT1.0 of the same seller £34.99 it as an anologue on/off regulator which is good for temp settings but i do not think the vapor quality is anything like as good as the XMAX V2

How would you describe the 'inferior quality' of the vapor produced by the VT1. I really get tired of the way that 'vapor quality' is used. 'Quality' is just too vague a term to have significant meaning in this respect, and leads many to believe that vaporization is a much more complicated process than it really is.

Maybe i am being hasty with my remarks vapour quality regarding the VT1.0 so i am going to give it a good burn off as it as got that cheap Chinese manufactured taste plenty of vapor though whereas the XMAX V2 as a much more pleasant taste similar to a Flowermate V5.0s

I have been searching for my first vape for a while, and after lurking here for a while, I finally took the plunge and ordered an x-max v2 (5min shutoff, sealed air path) from Topgreen on Alibaba. $58.30 USD including shipping to Canada.

I'm getting a little antsy today wondering whether the transaction was legit - I haven't dealt with alibaba before. I have a DHL tracking number, but it isn't recognized in the system (and it's been almost a week since I ordered). It seems people have dealt with Topgreen before: can anyone speak to how the transaction went? Shipping time, etc.

Mostly I'm just impatient for my new toy to arrive

Never dealt with them through alibaba, only directly. Didn't know they had a shop there, its mostly other vendors selling for the manufacturers in my experience. Just contact them, alibaba in general is technically legit

I agree the latest xmax v2 with 5 minute shut off is a solid bit of kit you do need a few extra batteries but then it is endless vaping and cheap £39.99 free p&p in the UK on the well known auction site

Thanks for the response. I got in touch with them and now have tracking info. I double checked before ordering that the people i was exchanging emails with were the topgreen team directly - alibaba is just where we first made contact. Hopefully I will be back on here with a product review (by which I mostly mean noob questions) soon :)

Shipping is free, but there's a VAT. You'll pay right at $100 total. You'll also have the option to get an upgraded mouthpiece later on-postage cost only.

Hey Max, just wanted to correct you, non European customers do not pay VAT at Vapefiend.

I got mine in the mail, been trying to figure it out for 2 days, might email the company, sometimes it just does not want to turn on or takes multiple tries. I hit it 5 times, wait for the light to go out and hit it 3 more times to turn it to a heat setting, sometimes it never works when I hit it 3 times, very odd. Honestly it should go to the last temp used after being hit 5 times automatically anyways, its tedious compared to the Imag +. It also gets extremely hot even on the lowest....lots hotter then any portable I ever used, the vapor is to hot IMO. I want to review it but at this point I feel I got a dud, it does not burn the herb luckily.

Photo next to Imag+ for those that wanted to see, its about 3 times lighter then the Imag. Both look identical inside almost...chamber wise.

Did I get a dud @Shit Snacks?

Hey guys, I think it would be better if you made it clear/explicit when you are reviewing units for free, by honnesty vs the forum readers. I know we do our best to be biased as little as possible, but the simple fact we got them for free is already a bias in itself.

I also received my sample unit and have done only two bowls with it so far. It's too early to issue any meaningful review, but my experience is similar to @HillaryClinton... excepted I don't think it's a dud, just the way the device is.

The button is indeed strangely reactive and I have to focus on what I'm doing to turn the device on/off and change the temperature, otherwise some clicks seem to be lost. I never had that issue with my FlowerMates which also require click sequences to operate. It's only a minor annoyance though, as it doesn't prevent using the device.

I'll verify but I think mine gets back to the last temp setting when starting. There's one thing I don't understand though, when it times out, you have to redo the entire 5+3 clicks sequence right? And how do you prevent said time-out? Is there a way to keep it alive?

Another question: the manual says 3 or 5 min (optional) time-out but how do you change that? Is that a factory setting that you chose when you order the unit?

I asked them about the 3 to 5 minute change they said they need to update the manual. The older version was 3 minutes and the Pro is 5. No way to change those times.

It is always 5min shutoff, old units were 3min so hence old manual. No way to change that, gotta turn back on.

Yes button clicks are annoying, especially if your used to Imag and FM, but I got used to it. It definitely is better than it was in the old version, but always a chance you both got bad buttons. I'd say give it more time to get used to it, since I have zero trouble now if I pat attention to how many clicks I do and how fast. I think they made it so it won't turn on in pockets, something I've had happen with FM and Imag... Double edged sword.

As far as heat, it shouldn't be that hot on level1 I think, but can't say for sure. Its comparison preferred thing perhaps, I dont find it that bad, or that different from other units.

It does go to the last temp used, sometimes it resets if your using a new battery though, and remembers that batterys' last setting somehow (or I'm crazy).

Also dont wait too long after the 5press battery indicator light goes off, for your 3press temp setting, otherwise you have to do 5press again. It gets better
