Just tried a couple of the suggestions. First I set the screen height with the epick (thanks @Walter Bishop). Then I loaded about .025 of yesterdays dry preground material and it just cleared the short end of the pick. I had the nano set at 7 and inverted for about a 10-second heat soak (thanks @Ratchett & @Snappo) before starting the hit slowly and then speeding up a bit. It ended up being about twice as long as the hit I'm looking for, but produced a beautiful and tasty cloud. I little stir and I got another hit about half as big. ABV looks perfect.

Now I know I can get great, tasty and effective hits. But I'll be doing a lot of testing to see if I can get closer to what I was looking for when I bought the nano. I do notice the effect is a bit different from my pure convection vapes so I'm guessing the 10-20 second heat soak probably means some conduction and more sedative effects as well.

I am getting big clouds, using my water tool, set at 7.00, using the E-pick to set the screen depth. This uses .05 grams. I've noticed that I get a much bigger hit using my water tool instead of the straight stem, I suggest you try it with water if you can.

That's just about what I've been doing now too, but with more like .025 gm. I've never tried hitting without water. My throat gets too dry without water and the whole reason I wanted the nano is to get huge bubbler hits. My girlfriend is having some challenges fully converting from combustion so my goal here is to replicate a one-hitter lung-busting bong hit using my Mobius Ion Matrix bubbler.

At 6 I'm getting good flavor and big enough clouds, I'm satisfied. At between 7 and 8 the clouds are huge but the flavor drops off. I'm still in the learning phase but I've been very happy. A lot can be said for really good flavor. That would be dry, not with wt.

EDIT
I thought the sale was until midnight tonight. I would only get 10% off another Nano. I'm going to hold off on buying another one for now. I will wait for another sale or when I have more money to spend on a vaporizer. I've spent my vaporizing allowance for the month.

@lazylightning What size is your bubbler? If you're familiar with the Chinese pieces, I find a medium sized one like the GB-187, Do20-W or D020-D work best with the enano. I have an FC-187 that is slightly larger than the GB version and I find that the extra space tends to give me "less" vapor (it has more virgin air to mix with).

Also, I run a few strains and some of them just don't produce as much vapor as others. I also pre-grind a few grams (who am I kidding, I typically have 6 Satchmo's full of pre-grind:rockon:) and store them in Jyarz, that may help to dry them out a bit. If I pull some material from a 62% Boveda container, I get noticably less vapor than from the pre-ground sitting in my Jyarz.

@CarolKing 2 is 1, 1 is none.. get a 2nd one. I literally have my extra "loaner" enano next to my original at all times (unless a friend is borrowing it). No regrets on the purchase, and they both have their unique quirks. I had to RMA one a few months back, and that more than justified the cost of my 2nd one.

I'm using the Mobius bubblers in my sig. I really want to be able to milk the Ion Matrix quickly (6 seconds instead of 10-12). I think that might be equivalent to the Chinese D020-D?

The Atom is a good bit smaller than the Ion and that's the one that's working better with the nano for me right now.

I kind of have a thing against pre-grinding as I find the terps really come alive when I grind fresh. The herbs stored with 62% Bovedas produce huge clouds with most of my strains and those are the ones I'm testing with the nano. I did use some leftover pre-ground from a day ago to test, but don't think it changed the experience that much.

A variable I haven't heard mentioned much is relative humidity in the environment. Maybe I get better clouds from fresh ground because the high desert humidity level is so low?

I hate adjustable gongs.

The fixed glass is perfect for me!

FC 187 or D022 for the NANO!
D020 for my SOLO!
I like water path.

I just ordered some fixed glass screen stems and gongs. I already have the adjustable stems and gongs and I'm not so happy about the screen moving after every use. I know I can adjust the load and depth but I find I use it at the E-pick depth most of the time. I also thought the sale was good until midnight tonight, oh well!

Never approached the timing concept and just finished a quick test. After 5 hits, I averaged about 12 seconds per hit and clear with a piece about the size of your Ion Matrix (niece bubbler by the way). This was with a carbed GonG, so probably a bit quicker than normal. I'm not seeing any way to get a large hit in half that time, but maybe someone else can chime in. Typically I start slow to fill, then a quick intake to clear.

I will admit that I combust every once in a while for that quick hit, clear, exhale. I haven't had a vaporizer match that experience yet, but the enano + glass gets pretty close at times.

Thank you for doing that @nihil...it's very helpful. I was starting to get the feeling that it wasn't possible to get the kind of hit I was after with the nano. I have a MiniVAP and used to have a VXL Cloud EVO. Both of these are capable of milking the Ion in 6 seconds and actually produce more vapor than the smoke in a large bong hit. But both of these vaporizers are expensive and my gf hated the size, shape and heat of the EVO. The MiniVAP is perfect when working properly but I've had some issues with having to return it for repair.

In reading over dozens of forum posts, I formed the impression that some thought the nano was as powerful as the EVO but once I actually held a nano in my hand I wondered how that was possible with the diameter of the heater.

It is surely an effective and elegant vaporizer, but I may have had an unrealistic expectation of it's capabilities.

Hello!

I don't own an e-nano since I can't get one here in Europe. I'm traveling to the US in a month and I was thinking of buying one. It seems like the units only work on 110 volts?

Is there anyone in EU (or other places that have 220V) using one with some kind of converter?
I'm a total noob when it comes to electricity.

Would there be any drawbacks with using a converter?

I really want one :(

Thanks!

You need a stepdown. If you're interested in this vaporizer don't let it put you off, they're like 20 bucks & no trouble. I use one here in Oz. They've been discussed heaps here before, it's basically a simple box that plugs into your wall similar to a transformer or inverter. Only disadvantage to it is that if you want to use your nano in a different room you have to take the stepdown with you. Advantage of having to use a stepdown is that the nano draws a lot less power than other desktops so it's inexpensive to leave running on those days you need to.
Somehow I ended up with two stepdowns so I probably need to buy another nano.
I've had my E-Nano 3 months & I'm still thrilled with it.

OK, I couldn't resist a sale. I decided to buy a custom walnut nano to have, for when I send my cherry unit back for repair. Nadia already sent me an email that had the RMA info. We will be a 2 nano family now.

My Solos are getting jealous.
VAS is tough but when you add in WAS you become weak and vulnerable. Lol
Don't even add in AAS check out some Eds stems. Oh fuck then u got GAS gotta go over to joda get some custom glass.
WOW a day in the life of a vaporholic.
Leaving Dh gate out of it. Lol

Spot on  been running mine in the UK for about 9 months through a stepdown.

Andy recommends 100W rated. They're not expensive and shouldn't put you off getting a nano...

Your experiences aren't that unfamiliar @lazylightning - it takes a bit of experimentation to get it right.

The most critical thing I've found is to let your nano sit at temperature for 10-15 minutes before starting your session. I can pull a HUGE cloud at 7 with my Nano (though I usually prefer 6.5 on the dial)
Do you let the nano sit 10-15 minutes before using it at 10 or at 7? (edit:I don't plan to keep my nano on 24/7)

You can flay the "skirt" end of the screens out a little bit to stop the screens from sliding.
