Alfa Vaporizer by goboof

This line in the review seems a bit disingenuous.

"In addition, the Alfa (374°-446°F) not only gives you a wider range of temperature settings than the Crafty (365°-383°F)"

I do not own, and I have not seen an alfa or a crafty, but I understand the crafty is programmable (with a cell phone) to a much wider range of temperature. Right?

For a low temp sipper, room temperature is like a frying pan. :) I never venture above 400F, unless I get crazy with my MFLB. The alfa has been on a long wish list of mine. It is still on that list.

The crafty may be genius engineering, but I am sadly too cheap.

I received a glass bubbler the other day. Its one designed for the pinnacle pro and is sold by vapefiend and dhgate. It has totally transformed the alfa. Big COOL tasy clouds that give 1 1/0th the irritation on a large slow draw. The effect feels quicker (possibly due to the hydration of the vape). The only problem was that the glass was too wide for the mouthpiece so some thinking was in order. So I now have the bubbler connected to the mouthpiece via a 16mm silicone ear spacer - the ones that folk use with large with ear piercings, its in matching black too ;). It works best keeping the alfa mouthpiece the right way up. The ear spacer had to be trimmed to remove one ridge. A sharp kitchen knife took care of this. I'm going into detail here as I hope it helps with others going down the bubbler route with the alfa as it has taken my experience to the next level. Obviously its not exactly portable like the Alfa on its own, but for those home sessions round a table it is just superb, and also fun to use, there is a video of this set up floating round the net somewhere, it may even be earlier in this thread. Its not mine but it looks like a very similar set up. Someone else needs to get one and post their experience with it on here, I'd love to hear some thoughts. Happy vape bonging, I'm going for another blast.

the alpha is on vapor nation 20 percent off soo its 160 free shipping. I've been looking at this vape for awhile and with that sale it seems like the right time. I want to replace me pnp with this and have a person willing to by my pnp just to sweeten the deal. It seems worth it but in just was looking for alittle feed back. I really like the bullets for the pnp its clean fast and simple to keep vaping. Does the chamber hold more than a pnp or about the same?
And does vapor nation have the updated units with the software?

I just got one of the hot off the presses units, and it came with a usb cable and usb charger, instead of the wall wart charger. Fit and finish seemed improved, and the logo was more subtle. Does anyone know if any internal improvements were made to this generation? More robust heat sensor? Better battery life?
Huh. I didn't know there was a new version. Their website shows no changes, and I couldn't find report of this anywhere. Could I get pictures? Also, where did you order it from?

I too am Avery interested in learning more about the improved fit and feel of the Alfa, and the USB charging option... I've been saving up the chicken scratch to buy this unit, and of course as I am almost there, I find a reason to wait a little longer!

I sent an email to Cieran at Goboof asking what improvements have been made, but it may be a while before heading back, if the past is any indication of the present...

Forgive the poor photo. The unit's edges appear less sharp than before, too, but I could be mistaken.

Hopefully the people at goboof don't hate us too much for nitpicking over their silent improvements.

Hey guys, I need help deciding between the goboof alfa for $169, or the crafty for $319, or the mighty for ~$370. I'm worried about the vapor quality and reliability of the alfa, and the crafty is very expensive. What do you guys think I should do? Thanks!

Don't be worried at all. At 169, the alfa is a STEAL. You gotta get all over it. I've used one since just after christmas. It's well designed, feather light, unrecognizable as a vape, and the vapor quality is fantastic. Whether through a waterpipe, or straight from the mouthpiece, it's great on all three levels. In fact, its the only vape I've used that has fantastic extraction and effects on levels lower than max (which is my default). I actually really enjoy it on lo, even though other vapes give me uneven feelings at those settings.

People have said vapor quality rivals a convection, and I would agree. Taste is out of this world. Is the crafty or mighty better? Well yes, they are much more expensive, and performance comes with that, but I know people who have both have posted that they still love the alfa. Not to mention, the alfa is more portable.

Seriously go for it. It's dead simple to use and get great results from.

I got this new one from GotVape, and they had mentioned there being a slight delay in my shipment due to waiting for a new batch.

Awesome ! Is there a S/N or date of manufacture on the box? Not sure if my local retailer in toronto has the latest unit, as their display version is the one that has been around a while.

I would contact them and ask, first, if that is very important to you. The vape has always been incredible, so no matter what version you get, you will enjoy it. Not that I blame you for wanting the refreshed version. Go for it.

This is why manufacturers hate forum hobbyists. A normal consumer would see a product, like it, then buy it. But when people notice little changes, now their entire previous stock is undesirable. Everyone wants the newest hottest version, even if the improvements aren't vital. Then they get calls and emails asking if the one they are getting is the newest, and what the changes are, and if they can get that, when all the company wanted to do was quietly stay competitive and offer improvements.

It is me. I have become the problem. I am so ashamed.
But I've also sold this vape hard, because I believe it's an amazing product, and have gotten many to pull the trigger on it, so there is that. Double edged sword, and all that.

Yeah haha, you've convinced me to pull the trigger on it from puff it up. I just contacted randy to see if he had the latest model, I'll order it either way from him, but I was just curious.

I'm so glad to hear it! Don't worry, even if you don't get the usb option, you can pick up a cable with the barrel connector off of amazon for under ten bux. And then, of course, plug it into whatever usb option you have, though the charger is set at 1A so you might want to stay in that limit. I don't know how usb voltages work, and if any usb device can take the 2A max that some usb chargers put out.

You are going to love it, especially at that price!

Just got a response from him, he said the new batch will be arriving by wednesday hopefully, so he'll have them at some point soon.

Won a $50 gift card for VapeWorld, now its the decision of buying an Alfa for 169, or a Pax 2 for 229

It's not so simple, between the two. For me, the alfa won out in a landslide due to the smaller chamber, stealthier appearance (everyone knows what a pax is), and efficiency of extracting material. The main selling feature, though, was that the chamber is much smaller. .13 to the Pax2's .3. That's less I have to load each time, more assurance that unused material isn't being wasted, and less to deal with when I want to flip flop between strains.

If you have a really high tolerance, and need 3x the material to puff on, sure go for the P2. Given your discount, you could have a goboof alfa for 149.99. That is arizer solo money, ie ridiculously cheap. It's 80 dollars less than the Pax2, as it is at normal pricing.

Personally, I think that what the pax 2 offers isn't worth almost three hundred dollars. Personally, I don't think it's worth more than the alfa, and asking more than that is pushing it, bells and whistles be damned.

Because I have the alfa already, I'd go for the Pax2, only to experience it. If I didn't I'd probably go for the alfa at it's very appealing pricepoint and package. But load size and heat up time are of paramount importance to me.

Congratulations, either way!

I just had a very interesting call from a man with a great pedigree in portable vaporizers. He tells me he is now creating vaporizers for his new company, goboof.

What he had to say was very interesting: unlike his previous products, his new one, the Alfa, is battery powered. It's very small and very simple to use, and although it's conduction, he says they've worked hard to ensure that herbs keep their flavour. He said at the moment it's a flowers-only unit, but they are working on an adapter for use with oils. They are also working on water tool adapters and water tools.

It also has some pretty unique features such as a "puff sensor", which can either turn the unit off if it's not being used, or even increase the temperature automatically depending on how many puffs you've taken.

Also it is made in the UK! Parts sourced from Europe, final assembly in Northern Ireland!

Obviously I haven't seen it yet, but he is going to send me one to have a look at. I'm reserving judgement, but he did help create the first portable vaporizer, and it looks and sounds cool. He says it will be released first in the US, then Europe, hopefully both before Christmas. He aims to retail it for $200 US, or €140 EUR

I have both Alfa and Mighty, if I could only have one, would take the Mighty since I conserve bud better. Alfa is great but does take a good amount to fill it 50%. Plus Mighty charges faster

Finally pulled the trigger on the alfa. I had been debating between this and the grasshopper, but the grasshopper still hasn't shipped out orders, and vapeworld has a 24% off coupon that worked on the Alfa ($151.XX shipped). Looking forward to trying it out.

That's a great deal you got! You are going to love it. Let us know what you think.

That was the reason I withheld a preorder for the GH. It seems like a great design, and I like the removable batteries, but they haven't even brought a product to market yet. When/if they do, I have concern for follow up support, or unaddressed issues. Thermovape shutting down leaving many with nonrepairable 300+ dollar devices has me wary.

For that reason, I'm holding on to my alfa for quite a while, I think.
