I have not been here in a while, but im just dropping by to say that my myrtle after two months or so of being plugged in 24\7 is working better than ever! never had an issue, no wood cracks, led light shines bright, vapor is thick :) you guys definitely should remember that it seems to take a week or so for the zap to get into its heat prime!

I admit i do sometimes really miss my old original zap that i sent back because i overreacted over a tiny little hairline crack, but i just hope whoever has it is as happy with it as i was :(

rick, whats the best way to clean the stem? its getting a little gunked with herb oils. i heard about soaking it in iso alcohol, that wouldnt hurt the brass on the stem or anything?

So, it's been about seven days since I received my MZap. I finally found my camera so here come the pics. I'm really happy with it. The vapor tube reminds me of dugout battys. In fact, I'm going to make a "dugout" for the vapor tubes. A section for the herb and a section to hold the tubes. Oh, and by "make" I mean find someone to make it. I'm still getting the hang of packing the tube. Sometimes I pack too tightly but not as much as the first couple of days. So, anyhoo...

Really awesome Rick told me that the batch of wood he has is going to make some really trippy ones. I cannot wait to get mine. I can give up "sucking lead" through the China Vapo-lead. kind of a shame that I just now getting how to use it better...but it is time to step up to something far better.

I am curious if anyone has used Buzz Butter on the MZ. I know it is a PD product but I really wonder what that would do to it. A nice gleen would be awesome.

Oh I cant wait

again awesome pics..like the size compares to..if you have a chance, would love to see how much a "bowl" holds in comparasion to a coin..

Beautiful piece Reece! Nice burls and knots. I wonder if burl wood has the same specific gravity/ thermal properties as typical grain wood.

Yours will ship tomorrow(Tues). I did get almost caught up over the weekend and will finish some today. Then we are behind again. Yours will be similar to Reeses. Sure, you can use "Buzz Butter" (isn't it interesting............names for products?) We do include extra flaxseed oil with ours for more finish. Rubbing in by hand works best.
Reese
Nice pics. Much of our new wood is similar to yours except maybe not quite as intense. Out of an 18 inch stick we will get one like yours and a couple similar but not as thick with the art.
Kalinga
Interesting question. We do not evaluate our wood for specific gravity. Anybody who has followed us here for a short while should know by now we are not the technical ones. We just build them as always, again and again. I will say that since we started turning all Zaps in January of this year, we have not had any heating issues with Myrtlewood. They still like to be on 24/7 for the first few days or so as it takes awhile for the wood to get nice and dry which gets the heat up just a few degrees from brand new wood.

I will also say that before any Zap leaves here it is pre-heated for 24 hours or so AND we always pull at least one nice rip before we package for shipment.

Also remember this design of convection vapes requires a bit of a learning curve on the part of the user. The stem tip must be properly packed with very dry material and the pull technique must be mastered. Then it becomes automatic. When I first got an Eterra in 2001, I almost gave up the first day or two. Then, when I got it right, I almost fell off the barstool without realizing I got anything.

I forgot to mention, Rick is giving me a special lifetime money back guarantee that my Zap is the most beautiful one he ever has, and ever will, create. If Rick is not completely satisfied with my money, he'll give me a full refund. I mean, come on, you can't beat that with a bat.

Seriously, thanks again Rick. I see more of it's beauty in the pictures than I noticed with the naked eye. Truly a work of art that I am more and more pleased with everyday. I'm even trying to learn a little something about aromatherapy.

And I was gonna get an SSV until I saw the pictures in madcaplaughed's thread.

The only drawback I've encountered, and it's due to the layout of my house, is the room where it is mainly used is too large for the diffuser function. My kitchen, dining room, and living room are all adjoined. No walls or doors and large windows at either end. I have to get pretty close to the source to smell the oils. There is a more central location that might help but then my two year old will get to it. One day I moved it to a smaller room (half bathroom) and it was like POW! So, I guess for such a large room one needs more than one Zap. I may have to get Rick's wife to call mine to explain the necessity of another purchase. ;) Not that I need any input from the little woman. I'm a man dammit. I'll buy what I want, when I want and she....Oh shit, she's coming. See y'all later.

really I think if this unit does all that has been mentioned, even if it quits working in a year or two, it will have definitely been worth it.

oh I can't wait to receive mine and get some pictures up to share. this week cant pass soon enough

I've said it before and I'll say it now. I love my Zaps. I'm the proud and satisfied owner of two Aromazap Originals, and a new Myrtlezap. I'm a happy man.
The Aromazaps are, what Rick?, about 4 or 5 years old? One has developed a crack, but still functions beautifully. The other is like new. The one that cracked is the one that I've left in my car and if left in the sun here in the tropics it's like putting it in an oven.

Mine came yesterday. Not as pretty as Reece's but nice enough for me. Delivers nice thick cloud on command. I found no learning curve but then I'm probably just a natural pot head. Vapor is slightly warm and does bother my throat. Maybe if I can quit combusting tobbacco that will ease up. I have to ask is it possible to remove the led?

anywho thanks Rick. And if anyones thinking of buying a Zap I'd say go for it.

Is it that warm? I've never tried. You can stick some medical grade tubing on the end of the stem people say. However if it's coughing you are doing, that is normal because THC alone can make you cough.

We just shipped one without an led last week. We can do pretty much what the customer wants with some limitations. No led is cool with the special grain patterns we are running into. One problem I have is picking the front as you can see with Reeses unit. But with no led I still have to pick the back(worst quadrant) and THAT is tough too. These dilemmas do give me opportunity to take the all important breaks necessary for such important decisions though. That is a good thing.

Stems are as durable as any. ISO alcohol is fine. They are a commercial grade nylon product and the brass tip/stainless screen can take whatever.

..."even if it quits working in a year or two"...........No way Jose. They keep on and keep on and we will replace them or fix if they don't. And I have never held to our "90 day warranty". We take care of our customers for years. Just ask them.

Got your reply but already made the decision yesterday. I think we were close. Yours ships today with a few others.

We will make longer stems if anybody wants them. I have found only a scattering of people who smoke tobacco and can get the full bennies of vaping. The cig smoke clogs everything up IMO and the vapor cannot do its trick. You will also notice better taste from vaping if you stop smoking tobacco.

that is great to hear, Rick...so craving to try it on its maiden voyage. Is there anything needed to do before using it?

Since it was brought up, ont he stem cleaning. The PD comes with a bottle perfect for cleaning. trying to get that bottle or someone to tell you specifications on it is hard. Guess purple bottle is a trade secret :uhoh: to them I am sure.. any suggestions on what will work best for it?

Dude, its a bottle. Nothing special, just a small plastic bottle. Get your zap, take the stem and find one to fit it. It really isnt anything special. Its like the size of a sample shampoo bottle. Hell use one of them it just has to hold ISO. Walmart probaly has hundreds of things that will work just as well as the purple bottle. There, trade secret has been spilled.

Don't lie. The purple used in the impregnation of the plastic in the PD bottle is actually a photo-synthesized chemical compound that activates the ISO for a more thorough cleaning process.

Well I wasnt the one to give out the ACTUAL secret. Good job, now everyone knows and they'll be impossible to find. Oh wait I hear they already are. Glad I have one already.

I figured it was just a purple bottle but I though someone that used the AZ/MZ would have a good alternative or even a different way to clean them. I figured I could just get a bottle of any kind but maybe someone had a "works best for them tip" so I was a a bit dramatic in the trade secret bit..makes for great comedy

Yeah, I don't think the AZ/MZ comes with a little muslin blow bag for blowing out the duff either, so, in lieu of that, I would suggest getting a shot glass and blow it out in that. What I would suggest though before doing this is to stand in front of a mirror and blink really fast for 5 minutes at a time every hour or so for about a week. You really want to build up your blinking reflexes before you use this shot glass idea.

at first I was not sure what you were talking about but then I got it...I think just getting one of these bags would be easy as getting a bag of gum (saw that mentioned on the PD tricks thread) or even a sandwich bag could work as long as you transfer it to a regular container

Right now I'm using a little drawstring bag that came with a pair of "Smokin' Budz" ear buds. It's starting to rip though. ebay has muslin bags.
