And thanks guys! Glad the changes are welcome. I think by the time I release this out into the world it will be version 5.0, haha. Better to get it right the first time I suppose.

Anyhow, I'm really happy with this current model, I doubt I will be making any changes now. The price is still on target at around $135usd. The time saved on the stem work getting rid of the African blackwood joint allowed me to fit that inlay detail into the budget.

I am treating this more as an art project than a product now. Each Okin will be slightly different, because of the uniqueness of bamboo, both in colour and form. Each inlay is hand carved to fit, and the inlay itself will change shape and size slightly, depending on what works best for that particular stem. When you receive your Okin, it will truly be one of a kind, and perhaps 1 of only 200 or so that I hope to make in a year.

Ha! Speaking of ether manifest... I remember last year when I was starting to think about maybe making a vaporizer... mulling it over. It's pretty cool to see an idea come into being! Sometimes I'll go back and look at the photos that started this thread, and wow... it's come a long way... Who made those?! Long long ago..

Oh wow, yes. The revised version is around, if not already, the exact version of what I imagine. I love it. Huge improvement with creating a flush mouthpiece and removed the rings. The wood is beautiful, let it shine!

I've been lurking this thread for a while but figured I'd chime in since Dan seems to be pretty accepting of new ideas. Considering you're only planning on making a limited run of these, I think it would be really neat if each one was marked with which number it was in production. Like #154 or whatever. I'm a big fan of collecting knives so I have some limited run knives that have their production number marked on them and it's always made it that much more special in my opinion. Just an idea.

@Dan Morrison The revised stem is my fav. This piece is the piece of 2015. It's a beautiful work of art. Can not wait to own one. The signature card is great touch as the Okin is personally handcrafted. And Dan please make sure I get dibs on the Okin that is #11 in production. It's my lucky number. I got dibs on 11.

I know it would add to the cost and complexity, but that card should have a picture of the piece. Ideally the number would also be inscribed somewhere on the device as well.

I know you intend this to be a functional daily device, but I will always think of it as a work of art regardless of how much use it gets.

I disagree. IMO, a separate card would be fine, but putting a number on the Okin itself would interfere with the aesthetic. For me, it would make the Okin feel LESS special and unique.

I'll have to agree with marduk on this one. The stamp on the case will be enough to confirm authenticity, stamps cut from wood are difficult to forge. It is both the logo and my artists signature.

As for the number, well, like marduk said, it would just interfere with the aesthetic I think. In an age when everything is plastered with logos and labels, its now the minimally marked objects that feel more unique to me.

One question @Dan Morrison I recall you mentioned 200 units. Why so few?

Is it simply a question of production volume (how many you can/will produce in a given time period). Or is it intentional to further refine the vape based on the feedback from the "Lucky 200"?

By all means, given the low production numbers, I'll be certain to not miss my opportunity to purchase the Okin when the time comes to make an order!

@Ratchett , Ah, I should clarify. I will be trying my best to supply the demand, whatever that may be. Time wise, I can produce much more than just 200 a year. Limiting myself to 200 units would be silly, that number can be disregarded.

Chime me in for one of these beautiful works of art when it's available . I love things that age and patina with use. This pipe is just amazing looking, I just want my hand oils all over it along with resin building up through time adding its own personal signature to the experience. Oh man this thing just stirs and deeply satisfies something zen like inside me just looking at it.

EDIT: I personally would GLADLY learn how to make this pipe. It just adds to it's appeal to me.
