The Lotus Vaporizer

I am loving my lotus especially now that i have the WPA! One thing I am always wondering about is the comparisons to desktop units. I have not used a desktop vape and VAS is going strong! To people who have used both the Lotus and desktops, is it worth investing in a desktop if I have the Lotus/WPA? Are the hits more consistent with desktops? What are notable differences besides the obvious use of a torch?

I can give you one once I receive my lotus. I have a nano and volcano to compare, so we will see how the lotus holds up. Im pretty good at picking up techniques for vapes. Ill report back when I can get some nice testing done heh.

I hope my lotus comes tomorrow, it was within the 1 day range for priority but I assume it will arrive tomorrow. My order status says completed, does that mean it hasnt shipped yet? I have tracking but its not updating. I really want to have it for 4/20 :)

The Lotus is the only portable I've used that's been able to keep pace with a proper desktop. There is a learning curve, but since so many factors of it can be adjusted it's capable of a wide variety of hits. The only issue for me was learning to wait for my vapor. Coming from an E-Nano that I left on 24/7, the only real con I can think of for the Lotus is the drag. It's not that bad, especially if you have a nice bubbler, but it does have more drag than other desktops.

So do desktops just function as an easier to use lotus?

That's why I upgraded from my Lotus. I wanted an easier way to get the 'perfect' milkshots for my cloud-chasing desires (I don't need to cloud chase, and it's wasteful IMO, but damnit if it isn't fun to do!)

The Lotus is a VERY powerful portable vaporizer. I was perfectly happy with it, until I started to want session vapes which could handle load after load after load for my weekend sessions.

I upgraded to an E-Nano because I wanted to have better control over temperature so I could experiment more with my herbs (to determine what temps worked best for my body).

But I still consider the Lotus a very powerful vaporizer in the hands of a skilled user. While she doesn't get as much use these days, I will never think of selling my Lotus!

Thanks for the input, im in the same boat, I love my lotus, but am thinking about getting a desktop for easier results when using with other people. While it wasnt too hard to figure out how to use the lotus something about handing a new person a torch lighter just does not sit well with me. I feel like no matter how well I explain the technique, I am always worried that a person is going to overheat the plate when im not watching, which does not set the best environment for a group sesion!

@JimmyCricket there are so many desktops with all levels of performance and different designs, some easy and simple to use and some a pain in the ass.

I still find it much easier to play bowl tender with my ev-2 or Underdogs where I stir every few hits myself as they just hit the stem/whip or now what i do for the UD is handing each person their own nylon stem to deal with as we pass the Dog and jyarz of ground herbs around. So much simpler then teaching someone or worse a few someones how to manage the torch with the lotus if they haven't ever or don't use it regularly. As i have had to clean the lotus/wpa/orbiter/orbiter whip after others combusted more than once and don't ever want to do it again.

When I had the HA I could stuff the crucible and pass the whip around without touching the vape until the bowl is done and that made sharing a breeze.

If i were you I'd figure out which desktop appeals to you most and ask around about peoples experience sharing it in groups.

I too do find the lotus a powerful and top notch personal vaporizer, but not great for groups of 3 or more.

Hope this make sense I'm pretty Vaked 'n' it took forever to type out what I was thinkin'.

Yeah, The Lotus is my baby. I don't let any filthy combusters get their grubby paws on her!

My nano on the other hand has really been handy for introducing friends to vaporizing.

Got my lotus today, man does it look sweet. Is there a way I can burn off the initial wood taste?

I did a few dry runs which seemed to help, I also vaped 1 hit through the thing before I go to the gym. Ill be doing more testing when I get back in a an hour or two. Really excited to fuck around with the lotus and see its true potential.

That made perfect sense, your group set up sounds amazing! You sold me on desktops for a group situation. I'm thinking of like a vape bong station that I just set up and have people come over and take a couple giant hits and they're good. I'll definitely ask around

I am back... after a 10+ bowls in the lotus today I will say that I am already in love with it. Its so much fun to just rip it and kill a bowl in 1 go. The bowl size is pretty much on par with the nano bowl so I was able to make a tiny amount of flower last me quite a while.

Only thing I am sad about is the perfect heat cover now has the gunk from the butane and what not. Id say the high is different compared to using my nano. I love the orbiter btw, its fucking sweet so glad I jumped on this deal.

What butane do you guys buy? I need more and don't know the best brand. I have power 5 right now but Im not sure how great of quality it is.

The hype with the butane refinement has more to do with BHO than fueling your flame. Triple refined or higher should suffice just fine. Glad to hear the Lotus pleases again! I need to try one of those Orbitors, they certainly do look like fun!

Already combusted for the first time, I knew I was pushing the limits too. I don't really mind, I know how to avoid it now. I found using a finer grind and gives much bigger clouds. I was hitting it just two seconds ago and I was afraid I had combusted again because the orbiter was so milky. I think Ill stick to a fine grind but only a 1/3 pack, Im at a half pack right now and it feels like its too much.
Really love the lotus though, so many possibilities with this little guy.

Experiment. If fail, try again:D

j/k lots of great info in here. What are you using the cap with, it kinda depends on the technique

My lotus came in today. I am surprised at how big of hits i get out of this thing. Also the bowl is double the size of my UD stem. I though i combusted but my abv was still just dark brown. First time ever using a torch lighter like this. I bought the best butane from my smoke shop filled it following the instructions. It works, but if I put it close to my ear it is making noise coming from the fill stem. I think it's leaking :shrug:Any way to fix?

the Lotus (my first butane vape) is fantastic with the wpa, mmm-mmmmm. if you are considering a portable/desktop hybrid that compliments the lotus , maybe the daisy would interest you. imo, they make for a pretty good ménage à trois .

Iv had way too much fun with this lotus/orbiter combo. My only issue is overheating, how do I know if I am overheating. I combusted once but is it possible to overheat without combusting? There is 1 little dent in my heat cover, I never have touched it but I just noticed a tiny little dent in the top of the cover. It hasnt hurt performance but I want to make sure Im not fucking up my lotus. I usually hold the flame for 5 ish seconds (or when the red dot appears) and I inhale while rotating the flame in a circle.

One thing that always helped me was backing the lighter off a bit after achieving the 'red dot'. It's always been very easy to over heat it for me and combust it when maintaining the red dot but if you aim for the temperature slightly beneath that it's a lot easier.

I'm not sure if that made any sense, sorry.

Thats usually what I do, I hold it until its red and adjust how far away I hold it from the lotus based on vapor production. I usually try to milk it and kill the bowl in 1 or two hits, it has been working great so far. Is it okay if the hotplate has some black on it? Or is that a sign of overheating
