We'll be landing in Denver mid afternoon tomorrow. I know we dont have any firm meetup plans but I really want to meet any of you guys going. I dont know if Ill have internet access once I get there but hopefully the hotel has a business center or something that isnt too jammed and I can jump on here.

Have a nice flight @PoopMachine 's and enjoy your honey(DaB)moon!

I still have to work another day.

What are you guys thinking of hitting up? There are a ton of parties and other things scheduled besides the cup.

I got hooked up with a 4 hour private tour for when I fly in on Shatterday (Going hunting for good CO2 Oil and a deal I found on some killer looking live resin, also hitting up Illuzions Glass Gallery and one of the Membership lounges). I was thinking of checking out the Denver Freedom Fest Saturday night. Sunday they are having a 710 cup Pre-party at the Grassroots Breakroom on Larimer. Free Keg of Great Divide and seems like a lot of giveaways. I was also thinking of hitting up the 420 Rally on Sunday. Went with the VIP tickets for $25.00. VIP bar plus entrance to the VIP after hours parties (If I make it that long into the night!).

Monday @c76man and I are hitting up the Green Labs Buddz and Breakfast Brunch and then the Cup. Monday night I will be doing my traditional night before leaving Denver THC Cleanse where I see how much of the products I purchased I can finish before passing out and waking up late for my plane.

I haven't responded for awhile because the company that I work for (and many of our contemporaries) have completely changed their attitude regarding the High Times CC. basically the MED, the department which regulates our cannabis economy, decided that we cannot give out free samples of product anymore. this has drastically affected the way most dispensaries are approaching the event this year, and unfortunately, it may be the final year that a lot us attend for some time.

don't have time to read the whole thread so I don't know how much you guys are aware of the issue.
this is the lowdown;
http://www.thecannabist.co/2015/04/14/marijuana-samples-cannabis-cup-denver/33153/

this is the law itself;
https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/sites/default/files/15-03_MED_IndustryBulletin.pdf

I will be attending the CC (we've had tickets since November) probably Saturday afternoon but will not be working the event as I had originally thought and planned for. the event is Bring Your Own Pot and there will be plenty of areas allocated for smoking. you can share what you bring. but the days of endless dab bars and free joint lines are over for the time being. it's going to be a very different Cannabis Cup this time around. there will be many more VENDORS (accessories) and many less DISPENSARIES (weed) than in previous years. and a lot less free swag.

and yes.
as of right now, it's whiteout outside. moved my Trans Am into the garage the other day because it's snowing like it's January at the moment. forecast right now says that Saturday should be the day with the most sun light and highest temperatures. remember that the CC is mostly outdoors but there's also a large indoor area for seminars, glass blowing ,etc.

ok ok.
I read the previous page at least.

to try and clear up immediate concerns.
YOU CAN SMOKE LIKE A CHIMNEY INSIDE OF THE CC... but you gotta' bring your own stash in. that being said there will not be sobriety checkpoints right outside of the gate for instance. Denver PD is not going to harass you about the drawstring bag over your shoulder. just don't act like an idiot.

people will still be getting high as a kite this year, they just won't be getting it all handed to them for free. buy what you need before going in. though I wouldn't be surprised to see certain booths getting creative with "dollar dabs" or "penny pipes" or other offers that try to allow people to enjoy samples while loopholing the no-free-samples law. you will probably still find 'free' weed, it's just not going to be the Wild West like the first couple of years.

the atmosphere will have changed a little but it's not like you're going to have a bad time unless you go out of your way to have one. there WILL be plenty of stuff to do, interesting things to see, cool people to meet, and great product to enjoy.

so are the individuals that work at the dispensaries allowed to bring an O and share it with "friends" freely, or is that only the ticket buying public that is allowed to bring in?

Although they cannot give samples, are dispensaries allowed to sell at the CC?

(if it is not abundantly clear, I've never been:))

Dispensaries can only legally sell from within their shop. But I can see them selling product to an employe who can then share it legally with others at the cup, unless I am mistaken.

@lovinlivinlife I'm interested to hear what you find in the rec market for CO2 oil. CO2 concentrates are definitely still developing in Colorado. The medical dispensaries are finally starting to more universally carry them in the past six months or so.

Just my opinion from experience with CO dispensaries but I don't think they will try to work around the law by using their employees like this as they have too much to lose (like their license or a big fine etc). Their employees represent their shop and if the shop cannot sell on site or give away on site, then their employees won't be able to sell or give away bud :(

It is sad that this happened and especially at the 11th hour.

My CO rec shop experience as an out of stater. I was attempting to legally get more than the 1/4 oz that the law allows. I researched and brought in a copy of the law which limited the buy to 1/4 OZ PER TRANSACTION.
I asked to buy 1/4 , leave, return in 10 minutes for another 1/4 oz transaction. NO dice. I even had my budtender call the owner with the law language. The owner was clear that it is not worth incurring the wrath of the state and they would stay with the conservative interpretation of one 1/4 oz PER DAY even though the law said 1/4 oz PER TRANSACTION :(
I didn't want an overnight stay and expense just to get another 1/4.
CO makes out of staters feel like second class citizens.

@MinnBobber -- Sorry, I don't feel that your one experience can give validation to the statement that "Co makes out of staters feel like second class citizens".

OK, I am very pleased to be able to buy legally !!!!! BUT........
can out of staters go into a CO liquor store and buy 20 cases of beer or are they limited to one six pack?
Limiting purchase to 1/4 oz makes me feel like a second class citizen.
I pay $100 for a 1/4 and a resident standing next to me pays $260 for an oz.......

The CO law itself makes us second class citizens IMO

@PoopMachine-- if you have internet access hit check your PM
I'll be at the Cup Monday.

@MinnBobber -- Came out last year as a tourist, went to 4 different shops the same day, and made purchases at each store.
Why try to "play" a game by buying at one shop, and going back to the shop in the same day? Just go to one of the myriad other shops to make another 1/4 purchase. If you don't like the "legal" rules, you can always hit up Craigslist.

Like em or not, rules are in place. System is working pretty damn well here. I had no qualms about paying for rec last year(even though it cost me more than what I paid in Florida for cannabis), because I was supporting the legal system that I believe in. If you want legal cannabis....Colorado has laid out the rules for in-state and out-of-state folks, don't like the rules---enjoy the black market.

Would I like it cheaper, or more loose rules, or whatever else folks complain about? Sure, BUT, I am willing to follow the current rules, so that I and others can have access to "legal" cannabis. :2c:

virtually all the 'big' / legit / best dispensaries WILL NOT be giving out weed at the CC.
because now we're afraid of the consequences. which are about as mysterious as the law itself was before this year. most of the serious dispensaries will only be entering their bud to be judged, they won't be giving any away or selling much of anything at their booth (if they even have a booth).

people who work at dispensaries are treated no differently than the 'public' once you're inside.
I can bring weed to share. you can bring weed to share. anybody can. but it will probably NOT be bought/sold inside. there's otherwise no law about 'sharing.' sharing is encouraged.

Dispensaries can only legally sell from within their shop. But I can see them selling product to an employe who can then share it legally with others at the cup, unless I am mistaken.

yes like I alluded to, vendors will be getting creative will small samples.
I've heard plenty of talk about dollar dabs and penny pipes and other gimmicks that are trying to skirt the new 'sample' law.

the Cannabis Cup will still be an amazing event. especially for anyone who hasn't been.
but in general, it's still one of the only places on planet Earth that you can experience the kind of atmosphere that will be in such abundance.

The only reason there is a disparity in rules for out of staters is the fact that it is illegal for cannabis to leave the borders. Colorado has to be very careful in implementation of legalization to keep the Feds from coming in. We need national legalization to clean up this state by state patchwork movement.

One hell of a first day for me.

Rode what ended up being a nonstop Dab bus all around denver hitting up three dispensaries and found some fire Permanent Jackson shatter, and some nice Banner '71 buttery wax. Also picked up a gram of HC Bubba Kush to put me to sleep after all the Sativa.

Oh and I got in a AK-47 Pinner from Cheba Hut paired with a delicious IPA I can't remember the name of. Mmmmmm

Now Bong Burlesque, 420 rally after party, or Denver Freedom Festival???

CNN is at the Cannabis Cup. They are walking around at the different vendors and showing folks selling equipment and some of the food products. They aren't suppose to have food with cannabis infused edibles, but have the food without the meds. CNN said folks are getting some infused food anyway. Maybe free samples of infused foods on the down low. ;)

Hope you're having a good time FCers. CNN is watching.

Unbelievable 2nd day in Denver today.

Started the day off back on the Dab bus and took a trip around denver meeting great people and watching smoke/vapor pour out the windows.

Then stopped at Mindful on Colfax and found heaven in concentrate form. Orange Ghost Sugar Wax. A live resin that is unbelievably tasty and lab tested at 97%. One nice dab gives me that "perfect buzz".

Wanted to check out the place next door also, called Blown Glass and Vapes. Met some cool people there and they were like hey we have a breakroom downstairs wanna Dab out, so I head down and they have 2 enails set up with some decent Glass, a bunch of other rigs, and a volcano.

Score.

After this little dabathon i'm thinking lunch. Walk outside the door and a fucking Pit Barbeque truck Pulls up. Killer Brisket sandwich.

Back on the Dab bus to the 420 rally, some decent vendors but probably be better at the cup tommorow. I did catch Rick Ross kick off his set at 4:20 with a Sierra Nevada Nooner from the VIP bar and let's just say it got little extra cloudy today in Denver then the weatherman predicted.

Back on the Dab bus to Peak Dispensary and picked up some 120 Micron Bio-Diesel Ice Water Hash. Yum.

Stop a few doors down at Illuzions Glass Gallery. If you are in denver make it to this place. Some incredible work from some great artists. Some sick Joe peters work and a few N8 pieces that were outstanding. Best part, started talking to some people working there about Glass and they say "hey, tommorow night we are having a gathering down here and Joe Peters and 4 other blowers (they told me but this was after the Dab Bus!) are going to be blowing glass and hanging out celebrating the holiday, you should stop by".

In.

One downer today was I went over to Grassroots Hat Shop for a Breakroom Party and Denver PD comes roaring in right when I was getting a free dab. Cuffs the guy giving the dabs and shuts the place down. Place was totally legit checking ID's for 21 and over and were giving away the dabs.

Freedoms are not free. Without getting into to much of a rant I want to give a huge shout out to the Colorado people and the way they are handling this "social experiment". I believe that if nationwide legalization does ever occur, it will largely be due the the people of this state. (Not necessarily all of the politicians and police force, but the people).

Thank you Colorado.

Don't fuck it up! ;)

End Rant

So back on the dab bus to the hotel and now documenting it here while it is still fresh in my memory........

Wait, what were we talking about? :whoa:
