so if lowering the wattage doesnt keep it cooler, would lowering the voltage do that? wouldnt that lower the wattage output at the coil? basically i just want to slow down the "ramp up" time.

i got the 30w device (cant see myself ever wanting to use anything higher than 10w personally, but i am thinking about a TC device and wanted to play with an adjustable device first.

my plan is to transplant the new Yihi board into this cloupor mini when im ready.

then ill likely be using nickel wire.
If your adjusting voltage your adjusting wattage as well. think of it more like changing the ramp up time by adjusting wattage and voltage. the greater the current the lower ramp up time will be. and of course thr lower ohm your coil the more watts or volts will be needed to power it.

I find its easiest to adjust the watts for a desired voltage.

depending on the ohm of the coil a .7ohm coil may be at 4.5v st only 50w while a .2ohm coil will be at 4.5v at 100w

so its like select your variable of choice and work from their....

if you wanna work with thicker wire you will be able to build a sub ohm coil and then effectively underpower it so as to keep it from rapid pulsing but you gain the surface area of the larger gauge.

if you were cloud chasing juice everything I said would be terrible advice.... but vape some errl it can be beneficial to underpower a thick coil...

especially a dbc with ceramic sleeve.

damn I need to set my box mod back up but all I got is cotton wick. boo!

apologies for my incoherence.

i want to eliminate pulsing at all. i want to fire the button and know that i have "so many seconds" before the risk of a red hot coil.

i have the settings on this mod set to the lowest wattage. and it still fires a specific coil just like my mechs. im not seeing much of a difference really?

unfortunately im not sure the adjustability of a vv/vw will do what i want. looks like a TC device is what im after.

so i will likely be getting that new Yihi chip that everyone is talkin about.

@2clicker The Cloupor devices do not step down voltage, so in many cases they will deliver full battery voltage even when set to 7W. You will need to wind a high resistance coil to get the Cloupor device to fire at 7W.

For example, with a 1ohm load, a power supply would need to buck the battery voltage down to the square root of seven (~2.64) to truly achieve 7W. You will notice this is happening when the resistance reading flashes on the screen while you are firing the device. It will display the voltage it OUGHT to use to achieve your goals, but it doesn't actually deliver that lower voltage.

Your Samsung 25R's will deliver excellent voltage at these low loads. If it is pushing out 4V, your coil will need to have a resistance of at least 2.3ohms, for your coil to actually fire at 7W.

That Yihi SX350J will be the rolls royce of TC boards when they hit the market. I really do not need to vape at that power level. The 25W Evolve board is $36, so I can afford to swap out my Cloupor boards - breathe some new life into those colorful boxes.

ok this is making more sense.

the new Yihi chip is actually available now and for $80. im going that route because i keep reading how the DNA boards, while useful, dont truly pull off TC.

those who are using the new Yihi chip say it destroys the DNA stuff.

ill link you to the new chip here in a bit. i saw the dimensions the other day and it should easily fit in my cloupor mini box. so the size of the cloupor mini with the power of the Yihi chip...? yes please!

so with the TC functionality... i should be able to set my desired coil temp and the device adjusts everything to match it... right?

i want to build a 1-1.5 ohm coil, set the temp, and vape.

There's a set of vv/ vw mods that allows custom output curves. If your goal is to slow ramp up time that would do nicely. All controlled by a Bluetooth app on a smartphone. The device itself had some issues but I've been tempted by it since it came out for the output curve customization feature alone.

yeah i remember reading something about that the other day. sounds great.

@215z... link for the SX350J

I ordered my SX mini from Varitube... fast shipping, excellent service(I've ordered a few accessories since!) I would highly recommend the Yihi chip for DIY. I am new to temp control, but it seems to be working like a champ, no burnt flavor(BHO at 550F, 25 Joules), no dry hits(100% VG juice at 420F, 17.7 Joules). I believe that the Yihi chip does the true buck/boost to adjust voltage.(don't quote me on that, but I believe it is true)

26AWG Ni200, coming in at .072 Ohms, not exactly sure on # of wraps, my RDA isn't with me, only my Subtank Mini at the moment. Yihi recommends .065 for resistance on TC builds! I have only wrapped less than a dozen coils, ever, only 2-3 Ni-200, but haven't had any issues.

if i could build a .7-1ohm coil and could keep the coil at a specific temp... that would be almost perfect.

now i am considering building my own enclosure. my only issue is that i have very little soldering experience. im sure i can make some good connections... they just may not look pretty.

i found another vendor that has the new SX350J chip for $72 and shipping now.

.072 is not a typo. Ni 200 has almost no resistance, it is different than Kanthal, Ti wire is also non resistive, but Yihi recommended Ni 200, although I'll pick up some Ti to try soon. I'm still waiting for my plume veil clones to arrive, so I can do a better BHO build.

as long as i can build a coil... say .7 up to 1.5ohms, set the temp, and fire away knowing that the coil will never go above my set temp... ill be very happy.

i may still look into the DNA boards, but the YiHi stuff sounds amazing. it has features i will never use tho.

agreed that post design is close to something i would love to try. that thing looks pretty big tho. i find that my derringer and rogue RDAs provide amazing flavor due to the small internal capacity.

i wanna see an RDA that has two posts. of which are located on the outside diameter of the deck. then make it really small (still 22mm tho). dreaming out loud here...

I too have had similar dreams....I keep looking. An hour of my day, every day, is dedicated solely to looking at all the newest vape shit.

I'd be interested to know what this new YiHi board does that the DNA doesn't? At least where temp control is concerned.

So I have finally completed my mission of getting a full ceramic cup / wick set up, with a nice touch of glass. This baby delivers unbelievable flavor and makes my oil last even longer then other set ups I have come up with. This thing is go sent for us users looking for a full on ceramic dish on the bottom. It also is sporting dual FC-2000 ceramic wicks. I've finally found my new daily driver, I even bought more carts so I can modify it more, even though it gives out milk, especially when carb capped ( with finger )

The Device

And a close up of the business end, excellently set up out of the box, but ill still wind up tinkering with it to see any possible improvements

Tried to read through the recent pages of this thread but a little lost so here it goes. I'm looking to get something for hitting shatter/bho out off relatively stealthy and portable when I'm not able to use my rig. Recently I found Divine Tribe's website and am kinda interested in the Version 2 Ceramic Donut Atomizer with the battery for $58.

How good of a setup would this be and would it require a lot of maintenance? Also open to any suggesions near that price. Thanks.
