With all the 4/20 holiday sales going on, anyone know where the absolute cheapest place to get a Solo is? I see all the usual websites people recommend, but even with the sales its not convincing me to look anywhere else other than eBay.

Its not all about price, make sure you only deal with a reutable company.
Having said that PUFFITUP is one off the cheapest BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY best costumer service of all time.
Not sure what the code is someone else will chime in, or Randy will price match.

PuffItUp is the place to go for a Solo. $135 for the base package with Screens, Silicone Rings and 2 day free shipping. You'll need to email them/Randy or call them/Randy to get that deal. Go out to their site for the contact info. Give it a shot ... you won't be disappointed by the deal or the customer care.

I see PIU is still selling Solos with a discount for $160. Did the price go down on the Solo at PIU? Sometimes Randy gives some really good deals. Shipping is always free to you or if you need to ship back.

He will price match some ebay ads for 135 but his advertised price is 160 with the code.

The way I ran into this many months ago - before the Air was out - I did my homework and found several Solo prices on Ebay and elsewhere and then emailed Randy for a price match. Randy responded back within 5 minutes that he could do the Solo for $135 with Screens, Silicone Rings, Acrylic Grinder and 2 day free shipping BUT none of the other extras found on PIU for the Solo. I jumped all over that deal and then..... I asked Randy if he was OK with me recommending the deal to some family, friends or posting it on FC and Randy responded that he was fine with that. I didn't want to take it on myself to publish the deal he gave me unless he was ok with it.

I recommended the deal to some family and the last time I did it Randy responded that he wasn't going to be able to include the Acrylic Grinder for that $135 package deal anymore. So I've been stating the $135 deal now includes a New Solo, with Screens, Silicone Rings and 2 day free shipping. BUT if you're interested in the deal you have to call or email PIU/Randy since it isn't listed on the site. Pretty much the same as working out a price match but already discussed and done.

I'm eventually going to email Randy and ask what he'd be willing to do for just the Solo itself....unless I can pick up a open-box deal. I needs me a Solo backup

I just fixed the blinking blue light and my Solo seems to be working perfectly again.. I think there was some kind of oxidation? between the heat element and the bottom of of oven cup...

My old oven had the two wires that went into the white lump that was in the little channel on the side of the oven.. When that white lump came loos there was no re attaching it.. so my Solo was done..

Since then I replaced the Top, the oven and the circuit board from a newer model that can heat and charge at the same time..

Then after two weeks of use it stopped working correctly... It would turn off after a few min.. And the "Blue light of Death" just stayed on...

So I took it all apart and noticed the 4 wires now all go to the bottom of the oven instead of 2 going to the white lump. I unscrewed the bottom and found this white oxidation or residue on the bottom of the oven.

I cleaned it off best i could with some baking soda and water.. I was going to use a dremmel , but didn't want to scratch the bottom of the oven.. I cleaned it best I could but you could still kinda see it, but it was better.

Put it all back together, it get to temp it works, it doesn't turn off, Woot I'm soooo Happy again!!!!!

How's your base holding up after all the screwing and unscrewing, the base on one of my Solos is chipping after changing the battery one time.

I wish I were handy and could do that if my Solo needed it. :)

If you get screens that fit wonky don't be afraid to trim them with scissors. I had gotten a new Vortex stem and I kept trying to get the screen to sit down in the bowl. It kept popping up. When I dumped the ABV the screen would fall out in my ABV jar. I did a little haircut and it sits perfect now and doesn't keep falling out.:)

Hey guys, I just wanted to share how amazing the solo is. For the past few weeks, I was cloud chasing. I wanted to know what it is to cash a load in a few giant but wasteful clouds :smug:. Some kind of herb VAS was developping in preparation for 4/20. I was reading the minivap tread trying to decide between buying it or the mighty. While swithching solos mid session because of low battery, lightning struck me! :science: Double fisted solos  I had seen double barrel solos through water, but not dry. And I had never thought about doing it untill this week. Probably not double the cloud density, but im confident we get bigger clouds and faster extracting overall like that.

My vas is back to dormant

So, I got the stem caps from Planetvape. I guess they're just generic caps, and not ones sized specifically for Solo stems? The one I put on the bowl-side needed some stretching before it would fit without being too tight to put on, and then I had to stuff some bubble wrap in the one that I placed over the other end of the stem in order to get it to fit.

I've also been making some kief sandwiches — dome screen, kief, and then another dome between the kief and the oven to keep it from spilling out. :D

Yes, they're vinyl caps. I get them in bulk from McMaster Carr in both standard and high temperature (400F for 15 minutes, safe to 'cap hot', but stiffer/thicker). On the bowl end, cutting them in half (razor blade or similar against the capped stem as it's rolled) makes it much easier to snap them on and off. To tighten them up on the stem end (something that was not intended) I use a short piece of silicone tube which stays put inside the cap. This is how it looks with Air stems, basically the same thing (I use the same caps interchangeably on both types).

I usually shoot for about half way, but as you've discovered it's not critical. The key, I think, is this leaves the lip thicker and square. Setting them on top at an angle and pressing down with your thumb seats them solidly and quickly. Likewise, the lip is very easy to 'catch' with your thumbnail and 'flip off'. All without spilling a spec of herb.

What's special about the "claisen?"
it turns one gong into two gongs, so you can leave your solo on one gong and a stopper on the other and have a lazy carb without needing to lift the solo or get a carbed stem. also gets the solo out of the way a bit, it could provide clearance to use on a piece or away from the face.
