I don't like vaporizing tobacco when compared too smoking it. You definitely get way too high of a dose of nicotine. Vaporizing tobacco has always made me lightheaded and always produces a mild headache in me. Even a tiny amount can make it feel like I just smoked an entire full flavor filterless cigarette. When I quit smoking I had too do it without the vaporizer because I was actually getting more nicotine than I was smoking (which surprisingly made it much easier for me too quit, vaping it made me sick and that made me decide it wasnt worth smoking or vaping ciggies)

I just had the best thought while using my VG. Why not make a VG bubbler? All they gotta do is make it a bit bigger below the bowl and a sherlock style. Would be the sickest thing ever. You could still use it dry too. I'd buy it in a second. What do you all think? They made a glass VG, why not this?

Yeah, it doesn't see much use, but it's cool to take to work sometimes. Still haven't decided if I like it with or without the plastic mouthpiece..

i just got mine today! it works great and looks beautiful! i had no idea this little thing could produce so much vapor. the taste is definitely better then what i was getting out of my iolite before i sold it. i thought it would be smaller but it works great and i love it. one little concern though, does anyone have a slit going through the metal on the inside of the top part towards the middle? kinda looks like its not supposed to be like that on mine

.I bought a hand carved Vapor Genie a month ago. I consider it barely better than smoking a bowl. You have to get the unit warmed up (hot to the touch) before it vaporizes, and you walk a fine line between vaporizing and combustion. Even when vaporizing the unit smokes hot. I wasn't very happy with the performance and ordered a Myrtlezap; as soon as it arrived I put the Vapor Genie away. If I needed something very portable I would be looking at a Launch Box. Right now the Myrtlezap with the car charger fills the bill.

Once you get the technique down, that fine lines widens by quite a bit. Once you get the technique down, it is a WHOLE bunch better than smoking. Once you get the technique down, the unit smokes no hotter than my Purple Days. How long does it take the typical user to get the technique down? One or two bowls.exdmd said:

That being said, the VG is a great vape for 55 bucks and I recommend it highly.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that the problem here is your technique, or maybe a defective VG. I agree that you walk a fine line between vaporizing & combustion, but the ability to walk that line is the technique you have to master to get best results from VG. I consider the demanding technique to be VG's weakest point - VG noobs usually suck at it, and patience and experimenting is required.exdmd said:
I haven't tried this with a torch lighter, but with a regular Bic, my technique is to tilt the VG about 45 degrees to the side with the lighter, and pull steadily while trying to get the flame to dip down well into the VG, but avoid touching the VG (especially the filter). Wind or even a draft from an air conditioner can make this 10x harder to pull off. When you feel the vapor start flowing, immediately pull back the flame and regroup so you don't overshoot the temperature. Then I resume, and also move the flame in a small circular motion, to even out the heat on the ceramic filter.
Master this, and you will be able to consistently re-vape your MyrtleZapped herbs. I've done it many times. But I've also scorched many bowls, and wouldn't hold it against anyone who considered more halssle than it's worth. Plus I think mine is permanently a little stinky from the scorching, which probably turns lots of people off. I don't lose any sleep over it though.

I agree with the above posters. The VG definitely works, and can if used correctly, work exceedingly well. It definitely requires appropriate technique to use efficiently though. I have a noobie smoke/vape user who it took around 4 bowls to get the technique down, and he is still improving. I got a Launch Box and he was able to figure that out within a bowl.
It definitely has the ability to perform great though. Just get that technique down!
