a 1" screen swims in it and allows material to get past it. Dammit :goon:
The same thing happened to me last night when I tried it for the first time. Back to the modded cyclone for now. Which doesn't bother me one bit, so I am hesitant to buy an SSV wand if the gains are minimal. I like the viewing experience that the cyclone provides. Big clear window to watch your herb turn brown. :)

DDave, your eBay link is from the guy I bought from I just came to find out. What they send ain't what is pictured, but they are paying for the return. What is pictured is what I broke 2 of though and they worked perfectly.
I too am happy using the elbow that came with the unit. The key is warm up time really.

I got my pack of 5 F/F adapters from DLGate friday. They look like they'll work, they have a ridge in the center ring that will accommodate a screen. The funny thing is the inconsistencies in size. Two are the same height exactly as my cyclone bowl, one is a bit shorter, and the other two are quite a bit shorter. Very odd.
I'll try and post pics up tomorrow.

I'd like to see pics of the straight glass to balloon with bite valve set up please.

I've decided to get the EQ next, which will be my first table-top vape. I just recently began vaping and have acquired the Titan 2, Imag+, Xmax V2, and Flowermate v5.0s. So a bunch of cheap chinese vapes, but they get the job done mighty nice.

I have decided to go with this eBay posting:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-2...980?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43d181e204
Seller is located in US, and claims to back the warranty as well. Has anyone had any experience with something like this, or is it pretty common?

I already had an SSV wand lined up, but am now reconsidering, as a few posts back talks about not seeing much improvement. Does anyone think the expense is worth it? This is the one I'm eyeballin':
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281467605601

Going to go ahead and grab the 18/18 f/f adapter, thanks to this forum! This (from ddave's tag I believe):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121476515486

I have a d020 bubbler on the way, so I'm hoping I can get some water action going. All thanks to FC. I never knew there was cheap glass on DHgate.

I was also very interested in getting the easy valve volcano balloons, is there a special adapter needed there? I, too, would like someone to post some pics if they have the time!
edit: or the bite valve setup for that matter

Thanks for anyone's input on the setup I'll be purchasing in 2 days!

You may want to read the post above yours, DVRez. I don't think you'll be happy with the 18mm X2 Females that you get...unless you don't plan on using a screen.

Oh, dang... I read it, I guess it just didn't register! Thanks for pointing it out

Does anyone know where the proper adapter may be found? I'd like to order them all together!

I actually did buy an adapter for $7 at a local shop, but later I saw a pic showing it isn't the right kind, it's a kind of square-ish space that holds the screen.

There was another that the seller stated was exactly what he had pictured, but he's now sold all three.
Hopefully there will be something up for sale soon on eBay. You can always check locally. Take it from me, I've broken 2 of these. Get a $2.50 test tube clamp! :bang:
I bought my Q off of eBay and verified with Arizer that the seller is OK with them and was able to register the device no problem on the Arizer site.

Yes, this is the one I got. It didn't have the split ring thing on it, but I don't really care. Super fast ship. It works regardless of whether you have the Cyclone or DD adapter.

@Sungodv , sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, there are a lot of vendors who've borrowed a pic from somewhere else and it ends up their product is not exactly as shown.

The next successful buyer to post a link, I'll grab it and update my sig.

Really torques me off when sellers don't picture exactly what they send. But, they did do the right thing after I took some pics and back and forth'd a bit...
Buyer beware.

In my opinion the gains are well worth it. For perhaps a little more than twice the price of an EQ elbow you get a piece of good quality glass that is easier to handle and harder to break. Cleaning is easier, as things don't gunk up and clog as fast as the restricted airway in the EQ elbow. I also like the way the SSV wand looks and because of the weight it is also less likely to "pop out" of the ground glass connection.
In fact, I liked it so well I also ordered the SSV wand with the "fatty bowl":

SSVfattyonEQ.jpg

I was not impressed with the performance if only the upper screen and elbow screen were used. The herb flys around like in a cyclone bowl, but does not extract well. If a second screen is installed at the bottom of the fatty bowl, it functions about the same as a regular SSV wand. Works very well. Looks and works terrific on my D020 bubbler. The large wand and ball makes clearing after a hit very easy:

I wouldn't waste my money on any more stock EQ elbows!!

On account of already having a D020 arriving most likely tomorrow, I going to go ahead and go with the SSV wand. I'll at least have both to try anyways. Thanks for your opinion, Dr. Soxhlet. So the herb actually goes where the bulge in the glass is, right? Have you tried the regular stem one? Now I can't decide which one to go with... what first world problems we have.

EQ is very affordable now, and one can be had for under $150. I'm getting a bunch of mods to go with it, to get the most out of the experience, and I'm just barely going over $200.

Still very interested to hear about the bag valves though, if anyone has any experience with the volcano easy valve, or the bite valves, I'd love to hear more about it.

I think better bag filling is an unexpected benefit of the ssv mod, possibly due to the improved air flow . Using silicone tubing, you can connect the standard straight glass tube from the eq bag to a camelbak valve. Then connect the camelbak to the ssv wand. Youll be able to fill a nice bag in about 3 minutes from a single ssv bowl. Plus you'll have a valve on the bag that you can open and close when you pass it around.

There is a diagram a few posts back showing how to install the screens in the SSV wands. The herb goes in the ground glass area at the end of the wand between the flat screen above and EQ elbow screen on the bottom. I did not like the results if the herb was put loosely in the "globe" area.
To use as a bubbler connection, just take the screens out for better airflow.

I've had my EQ for 5 years, but since I bought two Solos, my EQ was rarely being used.
Now with the ease of use and better results that these SSV wands afford, I use it almost as much as the Solos now.

Hey guys,

I have been using the DDave mod for a while now along with the SSV on my EQ

The problem Im having is that the small screen on the SSV clogs up after every 10 or so vapes, which seriously affects the airflow

No matter what type of weed I use, its the same and I have to clean the wand every week which means I never get any wand hash

I put between 0.15g and 0.2g in the wand when I vape and I use a space case to grind up my weed

What am I doing wrong?

Hope someone can help

I recall my screen clogging, but not as frequently as you report. Either some serious product or maybe they provided a finer-mesh screen for your wand?

I just ordered my extreme q and mods, including DDave adapter, ssv wand, a whip adapter, 10' silicone tubing (5/16" id 7/16" od), whip valve, a volcano easy valve bag to see what I can rig up with it, 1" screens, test tube clamp, and my d020 bubbler came in last night! The bubbler works well with my Xmax v2 too. I used turning 30 as an excuse to buy all these marvelous things!

Does it look like I'm missing anything?

Nice setup! You've got a good start on your arsenal already, with what's listed.

Additions will come to mind for you in time, as you fine tune your vaping style. With what you've got listed, you should be good to go for a while, though I'm not up on the "bag" use... others may wish to chime in on that area.

@DVRez Thanks for letting me know of this! Wow... :o

My hat's off to them for giving FC props as well!

"One of the simplest, yet most effective modifications for the Arizer Extreme Q (EQ) is the DDave mod. The DDave mod is named after fuckcombustion.com member DDave, who developed the original modification."

Very much look forward to your feedback on the adapter itself.

Edit: as promised, signature now updated with new source.

Glad it helped! I did order one and the site was having problems, so the order didn't go through. So the person who runs the site emailed me saying he would let me know as soon as it's running properly again. When I get it, I'll let everyone know how it works and probably throw up some pics.

Alrighty, so going to post my whole set-up here. There are a few things I could make better, but for now, and how little I spent, I am beyond happy. So here is the full setup with whip attachment.

03hVvDS.jpg

I used a short 18mm F/F in place of the cyclone bowl, I think my local shop had the exact same one DDave used for $8. In the FF I placed a small screen sitting just far enough in to sit tight with an elbow screen I place in the 18mm F/M globe. The F/M globe does have a screen just above the M end as well. So thats a screen above the heater, the elbow screen, and the sceen in the globe F/M. I then placed a DBV wand, which has another screen into the F end of the F/M globe. I found that the whip of the DBV didnt stay in place all that well, so I cut 4 slots into the end of the silicon tube so I could run the tube in farther, and then when it got stuck after a short while above the cuts, the compressed plastic would anchor the tube in. Works really well. But this is where I felt a bit more clever. The mouthpiece to the whip.

xkchVRa.jpg

The mouthpiece was made by making use of one of the glass tubes included with my EQ when I got it.

xy4pukp.jpg

I placed a small silicon ring between two raised parts on the tube, which holds the silicon tube over the glass stem, and then a larger silicon ring on the end up to the raised glass piece, along with a smaller one under that to hold it in place. Now because of these two small rings it forms an excellent airtight seal with a Camelbak water bottle bite valve, or Big Bite Valve, I have both and prefer the water bottle. Because of all the screens, absolutely no debris.

But then I can pop the bite valve off leaving the silicon rings on the tube, which then forms a perfect line to a bong I bought off a friend for $25.

lsCS6Ag.jpg

I can put some ice and water in the bong, run the hose to it, set the fan to 2 and just take the most massive, flavorful vapor rips I have ever had. Its my absolute favorite way to use the EQ right now haha. And the hose does Kink, Ive tried figuring out how to fix it, and I know a few things I could do, but I just hold it up and it stays unkinked well enough. The size of the clouds from this method are so big its laughable.

aVY2q0u.jpg

Now the balloon system takes advantage of the fact that its the DBV wand and the Globe adapter. I basically used their same idea for the system, but made it better.

XOcTzHT.jpg

I bought another, cylindrical 18mm F/M adapter and removed the bag from around the thin glass tube. I put the bag around the F end in the same fashion it was around the tube, except used a larger thicker rubber band and a larger, thicker heat resistant silicon ring. Placed the rubber band to leave bag hanging below it, then folded the excess bag up and wrapped the silicon ring around that to make an airtight seal.

xfiEQDo.jpg

I then took the original glass tube that comes in the bag, and put one silicon ring around one end up to the bulged portion, and then 3 smaller silicon rings up to the raised portion on the other end. I put a camelbak water bottle bite valve on the end with 1 silicon ring for an easy, tight seal. I then take the end with 3 rings and place that into the M end of the cylindrical F/M adapter to make another airtight seal. Because of the silicon ring system, the small glass tube is incredibly easy to pop in and out.

5TOyVlc.jpg

So for filling, I just pop the mouthpiece out, and place the 18mm M end into the F end of the 18mm F/M globe so I have a solid glass, completely open airway for some pretty fast balloon filling.

xd9ef6Q.jpg

I have also taken the hose out of the DBV and just used it like a giant solo with a fan. It gets pretty warm, but the first few hits off of it just have the most amazing flavor I could imagine.

I use a tiny amount of weed, I just pack the elbow screen like its a solo, and then place that into the F/F power bowl and the screen in the F/F holds it in place. I have stirred the bowl, but honestly it never seems to do much. I seem to get very even cooking through the entire bowl. The edges get a little lighter brown than the center, but usually if i stir it I may get one or two extra hits, but the flavor isnt great so I normally dont care. And I have an insanely high tolerance and 2 bowls will just knock me. I have had friends who dont vape at all, or at least not everyday like I do try it, and they have ALL gotten more high than they have ever been in their entire lives. And because its vaping opposed to smoking which most of them are used to, its extremely clear headed and completely different. I just feel absolutely fantastic and extremely high, but can cognitively function just fine haha.

I ordered the EQ on ebay at a lower price, and the DBV plus whip for 26 on eBay. It was listed as an SSV wand and whip, so at first I was a little irritated, but it worked well so whatever. All glass connectors and adaptors were bought at my local smoke shop for $8 a piece, screens and glass tubes all came in the glass or with the EQ. For the green silicon rings I just bought a huge variety pack of like 300 heat resistant O rings of like 15 sizes or something for under $20 bucks. They actually come in handy for A LOT of things.
