Vapman

Hi vapmaniacs, I've decided I'd like to get a water tool to pair with my VM, in part because I would like to get a stronger visual sense of the vapor I'm producing with various torch techniques. Also, y'know....bubbles. :-)

Is there anything in particular I should keep in mind as I research this? Any special compatibility issues presented by the Vapman? Types of water tools well suited for the VM?

Fwiw my budget for this is up to $200, and I'll be looking for something more functional than heady.

Any thoughts, however brief, would be greatly appreciated.

(I already searched FC forum as well as Toke City, and obtained sole ideas, but no definitive answers).

Thanks in advance !

With $200 support your local flame worker.

International capitalism sold by communists exploiting workers in sweat shops is not for everyone. If you have the money I'd avoid the bad Kama.

Just my 2c. Not trying to be rude or get people's goats up. If your poor that's not a crime. Each to their own, i even hve a cheap chinese bubbler a friend gifted me. But $200 could get you something hand crafted with love. Something to be proud of.

I'd say 14mm gong and a good viewing angle are two things to consider.

Peace

I get what you're saying, but for me supporting some guy in the US or some guy in China is pretty much the same hassle, just the one is cheap the other is expensive.

I actually contacted local glass blowers for custom pieces, but they couldn't do precision work, only bad art haha

Thanks for your suggestions, @NorVape and @davesmith.

I've budgeted $200 for this because I assumed I'd be buying a domestic product (I'm in the US) and possibly even from within the region of New England, where the craft of glass blowing seems alive and well (some of it even ends up in our HSs). I'm trying to get a sense of what features/specs to look (or ask) for (hence my query) but am quite glad to sleuth around myself to find the specific studio. After all, I'm Don Quixote, always looking for a new adventure (or 'fool's errand', some would say).

It tis natural I whittled it wit a .....Swiss army knife the mp is telescopic so it fit the egg ;)
That's so nice mate!!! Does it have the 3 holes too? And telescopic stem, eh? Does it fit the egg? More pics please?

I have settled with a small piece of silicone tubing for now that also fits in the upper part of the egg and it's much smoother than native! The flow of vapor doesn't hit the throat so directly with the tubing. POM mouthpiece makes some very harsh flow…

The D020-D is nice import. Just hard to clear water tool without carb hole or adapter for Vapman. I use 18mm to 14mm adapter & keep Vapman attached to the adapter when lifting it to clear. Adapter also lifts Vapman, & gets torch further from WT.

Blocking one or all holes on Vapman gives thicker hits that are just bearable thru cold water. Also removing POM mouthpiece helps with bigger hits too.

Try warm water instead

Cheers Yes it has 3 holes but I got twigs in 2, slide a glass pipit in from the bottom that seats in a groove .
@Don Quixote I use this small bubbler if at all,I think it's size suits the vapman http://imgur.com/aNrSeGY

Love the mod work! I've set up my old VG & Lotus like this, as well as my logs and VM! It's part of the reason I've been selling my bubblers. I saw your post of this setup, a bit different than this pic of yours IIRC, around St. Pattys day and got excited!

As for the actual shape of the bubbler ive found something where you don't have to change the holding position too much to heat the vm is nice. With traditional tubes (roor for eg) you have to put it down, spin it round, tilt it etc. also if you want visual feedback while hitting it then something fairly clear and with a long stem maybe? 14mm gon is good as it pretty much the size of the vm middle section although as has been seen in this thread its pretty easy o knock up an adapter.

I'm thinking clear fumed 14mm hammer style bubbler (similar to the above post) might be a winner.

Good luck on your investigations.

-sorry for double post feel free to merge mods x

Man, I really likee the last mouthpiece on the right. I'm going to have to make me one of these!

What did you use for the metal rods that lock under the springs? Did you take them from another mouthpiece?

And what type of wood did you use?

Great work. Thanks for posting.

Yes, that looks awesome! I will post mine tonight. Try it with your Nano and stem/14mm gong, may need silicone, rubberband, and/or Teflon tape. I need those materials w/ Lotus and VG setup but not with my VM or my logs with either a 14mm gong or my fave 14mm WonG roasting tube. Fits good enough just a little wiggle to line up and blast off, I can even use the carb with VM & log setup!!
