Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Ascent has been working great but went to clean it as I do at least every other day as it's my daily driver and found two chunks of the little lip missing :(
I have the same problem altho the piece that got loose with mine is a little bit smaller. My guess is that is doesnt harm the workings of the machine that much. I am guessing that bij clossing the chamber the whole vape gets pretty airtight, especialy when there is a little bit of ressin collecting on the edge. the rim seems to be an extra line of defence to get it airtight. point beeing,it shoudnt harm the functionalitie that much, but by examining the damage on mine and on yours it seams to me that it could tear the entire ring of piece by piece after lets say a couple years of usage.

Everything still seems tight and it is hitting just as hard as ever. I'm only using my Ascent so it's getting a thorough work out. Just put a tiny pinch in by itself tamped with oil jar and had a fantastic session before writing this. Much more than I expected. Barely enough herb to cover the bottom and I was getting great hits, clouds and medication!

I will suggest that anyone trying out the test spacers ensure their bowl is clean. Before using the glass flowers, I was using the oil can as a spacer and wound up getting it stuck because of resin build up. Heating it back up or anything else I tired to break the seal didn't help. Finally wound up breaking the oil can. :(

So just be sure to clean your bowl and if the spacer is getting tacky as one handles it, it's time for an ISO bath!

It seems like everyone is getting the glass spacers these past few days. I like that the company is providing these free of charge to test out. Got to give props to customer service. How are ppl enjoying them. I'm thinking of filling the bottom half with buds and packing this on top.

I still have not received my spacers, but I've been looking for them. Are they coming from China? If so, that would explain why it's taking so long.

My spacers have arrived as well.

I have given them one test using the open side down, bottom with holes on top. Then a much reduced amount of herb topped with a wisp of cotton.

While one short session is not near enough research to form a conclusion, I found it to be a typically flavorful and effective session, as always - but with less herb required. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Much more research is needed. And I think I am just the man for the job.

EDIT - oh, and thanks Da Vinci!

No, they're coming from Lost Wages, Nevada (Las Vegas). Priority Mail, 2 day. You should have yours in a day or so......or perhaps you're not lucky......

I received my beta spacer today. My first test trial I used herb tightly packed with one spacer facing down with the holes on top. I received very little notable vapor. The herb browned evenly.

Then I tried using both spacers, with one holes down and the other holes facing up and tightly packed. I fit them together like an egg. I got noticeable vapor at 392 degrees not much on the lower temps. The vapor isn't as thick as the glass flowers though. I even tried a loose pack and fit them in the same way using the two and got some noticeable vapor but again not as thick as when using the glass flowers. I'm not saying that I didn't get medicated, because I did.

This does work as a spacer but it doesn't give huge clouds. They are somewhat awkward to use and I have small hands. I am adequately medicated.

Now I need to finish making dinner. We are having pork chops, apple sauce, salad and cauliflower with cheese sauce. I had a hard time typing this out, feeling no pain, now my adapter plug is messing up. I will send for another one. My unit is 18 months old. My adapter has had plenty use.

Here is a picture of my ABV and how I used the spacers together, those are 2 spacer in the pic. One was loosely packed the other tightly packed. The loosely packed load was spent after 5 min. The tightly packed load lasted 10 min and it was done. I felt I got thicker clouds with the tightly packed load, on the right. The spacers don't take any of the flavor away. Airflow wasn't restricted at all for me. I did go as high as 395 degrees but it was too harsh and I didn't see anymore noticeable vapor clouds.

EDIT
I continued to try to get more clouds by combining 1 spacer and a few of the flowers, but that kinda defeats the purpose. I did get a bit more clouds that way.

I got just as medicated using the Davinci spacer and that's the bottom line not the clouds.

Thanks Davinci for giving us all the opportunity to try out this new idea.

I gave DaVinci my address last Tuesday, and just assumed they were sending them out right away.

Understandable. I, OTOH, assumed they'd compile a list and ship them in a single lot. Easier to keep track of and cheaper per set to deal with. It seems this also had the benefit of allowing them to email the list 'stateside' so they could take advantage of cheaper/faster shipping to us. That is while they were compiling the list (again via email) they could be shipping the lot to LV. Priority mail means we should all get them within the same few days, allowing them to rapidly to a reship on missed/lost customers should they decide to do so.

In similar projects I've been involved with that was the plan.

For whatever reason, the testing is on. In the next few days I'm planning of shifting gears and getting to it.

You nailed it right on the head! Our shipping team had the big list of addresses last Monday, April 6th so it makes sense they started showing up about a week later.

@Vicki Don't worry, we have you taken care of. You are not forgotten or lost and we have your information.

Ok my first go with the spacer I loaded about 1/2 to a 1/3 of a oven. And then I put the spacer in with the opening facing up/ tiny holes down that way my load will stay packed.
Every thing seemed to go good, the one thing I noticed was the temp would drop more with the spacer than with out. I'm going to try different load styles later.

This does work as a spacer but it doesn't give huge clouds.

I wouldn't expect this.

Keep in mind, these are clearly "spacers" and NOT meant to solve any other concerns.

These are not cloud generators. These are not efficiency pieces. These are not thermal mitigators.

They are spacers... and from what I can tell, they do that job quite well.

I do like these for on-the-go solution. But when I have access to house'n'table, I think the glass flower adds a lot of features (e.g., thermal retention) that these just can't capture. But, nor are they meant to. But when "afoot and a field", when one doesn't want to "mess with things" (other user's complaints) these things work quite well...

I'm keeping these in my EDC for all field work.

EDIT: For EDC -- also much less easy to loose, than glass flowers. ;)

Wow this is crazy, I can't believe that you take such giant hits. 10 draws? 5 minutes in the previous post? For that much material? Are you serious?! I just can't understand really, you guys give me the impression we don't use the same device...

If I load 0.12g (approx what I suspect you used above) there's no way I can cash it in 5 minutes and even less in 10 draws! And not only in the Ascent, I mean in ALL my portable vapes. With that much material I'm good for at least 10 minutes if I really hurry up and start high in temperatures, but usually it's 15 minutes and often 20 minutes. Even with my FM5.S that starts at a high temperature of 195°C I need at least 3x 5minutes sessions (the timeout of the device) to cash a load smaller than what you pictured above.

But maybe your goal is to get there fast? I do recall that you mentionned several times enjoying the device curled on your couch though, so not in a hurry... Or you stop drawing as soon as the taste is gone? Or you really start high in temperature and only do a single level?

Anyways if you are fine with that, that's what matters I guess.

That's was 10 min for about 10 to 12 draws. The 5 min. was for a smaller amount loosely loaded, about 5 draws. Above was tightly loaded. The color of the ABV is pictured above yesterday was similar color with the load I used earlier today. The spacers don't fit that much material, they're small. This was at 391 degrees.

Edit
@KeroZen I wasn't curled up on the couch taking my time I guess. We each do our own thing in our own way in our own time.;) I couldn't get any more out of my herb after that, everything was gone.
No I haven't tried it that way yet. I will try with the spacer on top of the herb with flat side down tomorrow. Was that what you mean?

@CarolKing I load my material In first on the oven floor the tamp down with flat side of spacer. Works almost like a full load. Only dif. I felt was I thought my temp drop more. But I'm no scientist.
Every body does and likes different things. Some times it's ok if we all don't like some shit others do like.

I think its interesting you chose to put your material inside the spacer.. I've found that you can fit a lot more material if you press the spacer down over your load rather than put material in the spacer. You can still use both in the same configuration just with more material. Have you tried them with the glass flowers yet?
