Pretty good night so far ...

Nice way to kick off an evening. I've got my eyes on a couple drafts tonight. Greenbush Mammoth and Devil Dancer.

Haven't seen Lucky SOB. Is it good?

I enjoyed it. I think it's a good "first beer of the evening" if your plan is on drinking ales all night. It's a "nice" flavor - sweet (of course) but you'll notice you're tasting plenty more flavors by the time you get near the end of a bottle. I guess you could say it works well as a beer "hors d'oeuvre," as it were, since it gets your taste buds working and makes you want to drink more. :ko:

At the end of the day, nothing special - but worth drinking at least once.

Had the pleasure of trying this last night, which has been mentioned before:

I'm not a fan of brown ales, but I'll try anything Dogfish Head puts out, so I gave it a whirl.

Really, liked this one. So rich and sweet and full! Every sip was a liquid dessert! Seemed part porter, part stout, part brown to me.

But I'd definitely save this one for the end of the night - at 12% ABV, it'll put you on your ass because you won't be able to help yourself from drinking it too fast ...

EDIT:

It went very well with some dark chocolate...

One of my favorite Dogfish Head splurges.

Wow... can't believe I forgot to post this one. Have had some other good IPA's and stouts recently, but one of each have been stellar!

Knee Deep Simtra 3x IPA. Yes... TRIPLE IPA. High ABV at 11.25%, so be careful with this one. I was fortunate enough to find it on tap. The taste is truly glorious if you're into hops. It has that dank MJ skunk flavor that I love in a beer. A great one IMO.

Founders Imperial Stout - always a fav. So dark, deep and thick. Found some 2013 reserve on tap. Lovely!!! You wouldn't believe the thick stiff head on a good pour of this. Utterly amazing!

One last one from a favorite brewery I came across in SD last year - Alesmith IPA. They do some good stuff, and this bomber has been a regular grab for me. Floral aroma, citrusy taste up front with great resin soon after and through the end where the citrus seems to come back a little too - at least on my taste buds. Solid example of a good West Coast IPA IMO. My local spot just got it in on tap. Tastes as good as from the brewery IIRC - but who can trust such things? Hopefully will be back there and able to compare soon.

All pictured with bottles (not my pics), and good like this. But, as with so many others much better on tap. Now if I could just find a place with 30 good taps and a vaping lounge!

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
Just beautiful tasting. Once I went IPA I havent gone back. I absolutely love the taste and the buzz. This beer, Lagunitas is a great tasting beer, pretty hoppy yet light. What is interesting about this beer is that they recommend different varieties depending on mood and time of the day, for example the day one has low alcohol content.

This one is 7.5% of pure goodness. Yumm...

Can't wait to try the Great JuJu. I've had the regular version, but not the imperial version.

I love ginger, and I love ginger beer, particularly alcoholic ginger beers, so this should be right up my alley!

Hell, the only way it could be better if it were being served to me by a ... well ...

I used Great Juju to marinate chicken. Very nice.

Love seeing my friends' reactions when they try my IPAs. Fell in love with them, and craft beer in general, on my 21st birthday when I ordered a Victory Hop Devil as my first legal drink. Love at first taste. Pretty much everything I've tried from Victory had been great. Also love Stone.

Had Stoudts Four Play IPA recently and I hadn't loved a beer that much since that first Hop Devil. The right pumpkin beer is a vice of mine too.

Anybody in southern CT? Plenty of great breweries to go tour and taste, and the great Cask Republic in New Haven is the spot!

I too appreciate a good beer to go along with vaping, as well as a good single malt scotch and good wine. It's all good!

Went to the Russian River Brewing Co. brewery this past summer when I was visiting Napa / Sonoma, had a "Pliny the Elder" and several others. Have a bottle of Chimay Blue in the fridge right now.

Wow ...Chimay is always a special treat! Pour very slowly in a well-tilted glass or you will get an 90% head and a 10% swig (becomes a total waste) ...inexperienced waiters & waitresses do it all the time. Cheers!

Bought this many months ago for a steep donation. Finally decided I should drink it before one of my kids beat me to it.

This bad boy is smoove. The rye gives it just enough bite to offset the sweetness. It finishes with a very nice vanilla flavor. Wish I could have bought two!

Followed that with this:

Good beer but chai plays better when it is sweeter. I truly appreciate that Stone opted not to go sweet because I'm not big on sweets. However, the chai spices are very forward with nothing to offset them. Good, but not great.

I read this this morning and was thinking then, dang, how can they be talking about delicious beers to me at this hour? I have the whole day to get through… Well the day's through and now sipping on a local (canned) ipa. This one's much better in person than in cans. But the can is much better than the coffee I was drinking this morning.

Another local brewery recently put out an aged (1 yr.) bottled bourbon imperial stout. I didn't get one; not such a big fan of the bourbon cask conditioning. I should definitely get a little more adventurous in my choices rather than defaulting to one of my three or four or five favorites (1 ipa 2 pa 3/4 pils 4/3 belgian (tripple best) 5 stout. Very seldom drink a stout these days.

Worked late tonight and needed a pick-me-up. I decided to keep it local and low on the ABV since I have to get up early.

Man, just recently, maybe over the past year or so, I've really been lovin' me a wheat beer - especially on tap. And although it may pretty much be a mass produced German export, I was more than happy to deal with this rather precarious looking vase of Erdinger Weissbier to refresh my palate . . .

It tasted soooooooo good after cycling up a thirst :)
