Been using my Solo now since I posted in here last time, I love it. Had to replace the battery twice tho. So now in addition to my MFLB, I just purchased a Volcano Classic, with case, for $180 off Craig's List and now I see what all the fuss was about. I thought my Solo was great, but compared to the 'Cano it's nothing.

About 30 degrees. The bent one is nearly 2 inches 'wide', the straight one a bit over 1/2 inch.

The bent one eventually 'spins around' the straight obviously doesn't.

Guilty, but that's no secret. I had two (one as backup/loaner) but ended up buying another new version one from PIU to play with. Two makes sense for many IMO, 3 is overkill?

Excellent point. Nobody wants to be like Ataxian, and be pointed at and referred to in hushed tones by concerned mothers in public places and all. That 'irresistible to women of all ages' thing sounds interesting though, don't you think?

IMO Solo (although my Pinnacle experience is with the plane version). VM and stem vapes probably beat that but take more actions to do so? I think the taste is better, too, but that's mighty subjective. I returned Nigel's Ascent and never bought one of my own, never wanted to 'upgrade' my Pinnacle, but bought a second Solo without hesitation.

I now have 3 Solos. My daily driver that is dying (1), a new replacement to my daily driver(2), and a Solo(3) that I purchased and took out of the country, used it there, and left in foreign vacation home for next visit.

I had 3 SOLO ' S once.

I only have one old one left.

Been trying different portables.

I think my next portable will be a SOLO!

First night with the new Planet Vapes PVHES Stem. Slow and easy delivers one pretty serious, sweet hit...so far so very good!...
I just got my @PuffItUp Solo/Air Gong in the mail. Only downside is that the rim of the stem is flat so I have to tilt it to get it to open up the airflow. The stock Solo stem I have isn't perfectly flat on the rim... and the GonG is loose which I expected. Length is perfect though.

I think accessorizing the Solo for 'maximum medication' could definitely be habit forming!

Thanks @CarolKing for the excellent positive reviews on the PVHES stems...made it easy to give one a try!

I'm liking this bent stock stem with a screen. Just popped i outta my phves straight stem. Don't really use these straight stems much at all
I'm liking this airflow too! It gives me way bigger hits than the phves ones but with a little more restriction. You can't hear that whistle lol
Hell yeah

Can anyone point me to some good O Rings? he ones i got from Planet Vape stem to have stretched a bit. I like my stems to fit in snug.

Also, a really cool GonG idea in mind. A flying saucer, with a beam of light acting as the Solo to 14mm or 18mm attachment.

With the Solo it's all good. I prefer a bent stem also, it's just easier for me than a straight stem. I know what you mean, after trying it one way it's nice always to discover the other ways you enjoy your Solo too.

I have some rainbow kush shatter sandwiched inside some Grape ape on this cold rainy night in the Pacific N.W. I have a warm fire in the wood stove and finished watching Real Time on HBO. What can be better than that. The simple things are the best.

The Solo does not let down. I Ran some platinum through it last night that put me on ground. :ko:

I remember when I was still lurking here and not an actual member, there was a guy that said he never got a satisfying hit off the SOLO, not even one??

nonethless I have not seen that guy back here.....

I had a close call with my solo the other night. My friend was using it through a hydrotube and managed to get water in the bowl. I could hear the water boiling on the metal and turned the solo off an put it upside down immediately. Thankfully no damage was done and it still works perfectly

My Solo is down. After 18 months of flawless performance, it no longer heats. Panicked, I quickly ordered an Air (great excuse) and am now now safe. However, my attention has turned to my Solo to see if I can get it working again.

It has a full change and turns on correctly, indicating it's charge. I select a temp and the heating indicator flashes. However, it never gets hot at all. I'm sure it was caused when I dropped it a couple of days before. It was about an 18 inch drop onto concrete, landing on it's base.

Any idea's what to look for? I pulled it out of the case and all the connections look fine. I haven't pulled the top off or opened up the battery compartment yet. What should I do next before just sending it back to Randy?

The Solo has a 2 year warranty on the unit itself. Just contact Randy. I wouldn't do anything to void warranty. Shipping back won't cost anything. He will send you a bar code label for shipping back via your computer. You just need to print it out.

Make sure you clean your unit the best you can. Good luck. When you get the Solo back you will have 2 great units.

Anyone ever create a case for the solo and the d020? Thinking of buying a hard case at harbor freight and crafting something to hold all stems, charger, solo, screens and rings, and the d020

After several of these episodes I rarely use the water tool above the Solo. If I do I make sure not to "overfill" the water tool. I like using the D020 with the Solo above the bubbler, so no chance of a mishap.
The same thing happened with my EQ and PWT, so now I just use it at the end of the whip; little chance of water going all the way in the event it decides to siphon.

Enjoying fresh Blueberry and Mean Misty tonight.

I try to always use the Solo with the unit itself positioned above the stem whether dry/hamster style or with my new D020-D bubbler. This way I am effectively 'vacuuming' out the oven with each use. The last rip I take is always in that same position and I remove the Solo from the stem mid-inhale on that last rip....so I always 'vacuum' the oven when done.

I also appreciate the education this thread and the folks who frequent it have provided me. For example...having read so many reports of the bottom cracking slightly around the screws...Since I first got it ....I've been setting the unit down so softly it might be confused with a new born baby. Had it since October and it still looks like new. Oh shit....I just jinxed it big time. Guess I better contact Randy and PIU now before karma knocks on the door

I have had two new Solos for about 2 months. Added washers to the bottom of the black one=no cracks. The other silver Solo developed a crack, but so far has stopped since adding the washers. This procedure is highly recommended.
Our own Pipes has a great kit that includes the washers.
I think your advice to be careful setting the Solo down is solid.
The Pipes kit also has a stand to further protect the base.

I think this is a case of comparing apples to oranges. The Volcano probably does a great job when it comes to filling bags (I've never used one personally, so I'm going off of anecdotal evidence here), and we all know that the Solo kicks ass! It just comes down to personal preference, I think. If you dig bags, the Volcano is probably a great (though maybe a little overpriced?) choice. Personally, I'm not that into bags, so I'll be Soloing it up over here!

Yeah, I don't get it when people say they get bigger clouds of vapor with XXX. With my Solo I have to be careful to not hit it too hard or it makes me cough. That is on 4. Occasionally I go right to 6 at the start of a bowl and then I have to be really careful to avoid coughing. If I got bigger clouds I would just cough more - and that is not a good thing.

Exactly so! We are blessed with an assortment of excellent vapes to pick from (and a lot of turkeys, of course). Ain't Capitalism grand?

IMO we come here to celebrate that, vaporizing in general and to educate each other so we'll be able to make even better buying choices in the future. Most extra special cool.

The volcano is a freight train for vapor, the solo is a souped up suburb wrx rally car. Hey, anyone have a good idea for blocking up the carb hole on the glass gong? I tried Teflon tape and I think it works but it doesn't wrap that tight and looks kind of ghetto. Do they sell corks that small or little plugs?

Plumber's tape should hold fine, keep it under a little tension for a few turns then stretch it a mite for the last turn.

If you want a straight plug you can do what I did, use a piece of a round toothpick. Cut enough of the tip so you can seat it soundly without 'bottoming out'. Cut the outside maybe half and inch long and tap the end (like with the side of a kitchen knife blade or something). Then pull it out and use the mark to trim it as you want. I sanded the ends, not necessary.
