Discontinued Zion vaporizer

@Wzfbaby7 The Zion has just enough room for the two 2900 mah batts, the heater joint, stash spot for the mouthpiece and a smidgin of room for the electronics so it's song will remain the same.

We plan on doing a single battery as well as an AC unit but those probably won't land until 2016. The folks at grasshopper already have us beat as there initial units are out for beta I believe. Trevor and I have been discussing doing a project together once we both have our initial product launch behind us.... Which might take awhile yet lol.

Sick CAD session with @thekarmawhore yesterday. We work in live 3D so we can visualize and talk through the changes. Imagine the 3D PDF innovating live as you watched. At one point I ran down to the shop and test fit various knob hole diameters to provide the correct bore dimension while @thekarmawhore was optimizing the lid magnet positions not missing a beat. Working like clockwork together 100 miles apart. Maybe we can do a live demo with Q&A sometime?

Speaking of Q&A... Ya'll been pretty quiet... Temperature curves, video of Jessica, 3D PDF and not much feedback? I figured at least @cybrguy would have something to say lol.

Well, you have MY permission to take the relative quiet in here to be an indicator of how well you have described and shown us what the Zion will be, and we are anxiously and with great anticipation awaiting the next photo or description of another cool aspect of the Zion that we haven't yet imagined.

Or, maybe we have all drowned in our drool cups.

I prefer the first choice.

Edit: quiet/quite ;)

OK, pardon my double post but I am here to serve... :)

mod note: So am I. Posts merged. If you knew you were making a double post, you shouldn't have done it. Would you like points with that?

So, I do have a question. I suspect you intend to offer (or include) a short stem with a joint on both sides (as earlier described, I think) to connect to glass. I like that idea. Looks to me like the joint is probably 18mm which is probably better for durability (tho not necessary). Does the orientation of the Zion matter? I'm guessing not but...

And what is a henway... er... I mean what does the Zion weigh? Is it heavy enough that it will need a perpendicular orientation on glass to keep it from being tippy?

Hey, can we pleeeeease have some sort of full usage video from someone . . . ?

For me, I think that it would help in getting more of a real feel for what I'm dealing with & kinda fill in some blanks.

I wanna see it being loaded, vaped, emptied & taken apart for whatever cleaning may be necessary.

This could possibly highlight any issues to those watching and also help to provoke the thought process . . .

I wanna see this bad boy out on manoeuvres :brow:

We must be close.

Yes yes?!

:peace:

I've been calculating your equation, and if my math is correct, two is exactly twice as good as one. :science:
Well, it's twice as MUCH, but is it really twice as good? Mighten it be 3 times as good? And is it even OK for me to say mighten instead of might not (or even just might)?

And this is cybrguy BEFORE he gets his Zion. I worry for y'all what the future may hold...

Oops, I see I got in a little trouble above. Sorry Mods.

I never was good at math. It's very possible we could have a Pi situation here.

Other than his original comments we haven't heard much from @stickstones. Maybe he could create @VegNVape 's video from a user perspective, rather than RBT's. If/when he has the time, of course.

Pak should get Jessica soon if he doesn't already have her already so we should get some other views this week.

There's not much more to report from my end other than what I already posted. I've used her over a dozen times now, and she heats up quickly with great effects. They have fixed the adhesives in the air path for Paka and Kero, so I am waiting to hear how the heater tweaks have helped the temp control and harshness at higher temps. I am as anxious as you guys are to hear their opinions!

So @RastaBuddhaTao , we haven't heard from you in a while. You DO understand that we can't keep this conversation going without you, given that none of us have a Zion yet. I understand you are busy getting this baby ready for the lights, but we are info junkies and WE MUST BE FED. Or we start to drift off...

Obviously we have seen that my weak attempts at humor will NOT sustain the thread. We need more stuff. Over to you, RBT.

The reason I think desktops will always be around in strong force is because it is all I use. As long as there are obsessive geeks like myself out there, there will be vaporizers that produce the best vapor possible and are plugged into a wall.

This recent post from another thread would suggest that you don't think the Zion hits hard enough, or at least as hard as some plugins. Is that a fair assessment?

So @stickstones has been working with us closely to resolve his number one issue and that is temperature stability. The Zion quickly shoots up in temperature but although it levels off continues to rise at the top end. This leads to the user needing to time when he gets off the button. This can lead to some overshoot. This is the nature of a open loop device. We are developing a method where you preheat the unit with say a 10 second preheat with the voltage set low. This allows for the unit to come out of the gate at near temperature and it settles in to equilibrium temperature during the draw. This creates a more uniform consistent vapor as compared to the grip it and rip it at high voltage which is the way we have been testing the unit up until know. The unit gets a little warmer and the efficiency drops in "desktop mode" as a fair amount of heat gets transferred to the device internals. Pick your poison. In the end Sticks is right it's hard to beat the consistency of a desktop in a portable given the gobs of power that is required to adequately convection vaporize at equilibrium (constant temperature) conditions but we will do all we can to optimize the Zion to come as close as we can and in my humble opinion I think we are close and getting closer.

There is, of course, no perfect vape. There will be vapes that may be close to perfect for given individuals and their particular conditions and needs. Those are myriad. Vendors need to first pick their target and then get as close to it as they can. I like the target RBT has chosen and have high expectations for the Zion. If it disappoints me I know where you live... :) :) :)
