Suggestions on a heavy hitting vape.

Hello FC community,

I'm in the market for a new vaporizer. I currently own a DBV and an LSV. While they both are very good vaporizers, I find myself noticing a constant battle to get a dark consistent abv. IMO, they both require an almost fully loaded bowl to vaporize well, and I'm trying to be at least somewhat efficient.
I usually vape at home, and being tethered to a cord isn't a big deal to me. I have a pretty high tolerance and like to medicate as quickly as possible. But, I also enjoy just sitting back and having a long session, as long as it's producing good clouds and not whispy vapor. Money isn't really an issue as I've been saving for quite a while, now it's just a matter of which one to get. I understand that the best isn't necessarily the most expensive vaporizer on the market, hence why I got both the lsv and DBV. I just feel like the technology behind the 7th floor products are a little outdated and there's better technology out now for extracting the goodies. I'm a long time fan boy of the 7th floor products, great products to introduce someone to the world of vaping. I just feel like there's even better vaporizers out now in the year of 2015.
Any help or suggestions?
By the way, this is my first post. I'm eager to learn.

E-Nano, maybe? It's an extremely powerful desktop (sounds like you are fine with a cord) and also has a ridiculously small footprint. It can get your ABV as dark as you want it (hell you can combust with it if you try!). It has a very impressive temp range, it's made in the US, it's under 200 bucks for some models, and they are beautiful and unique woods. And you can hook it up to anything, if you like.

When I want full, powerful extraction, the Nano gets the job done every time. Worth a look.

Unless you are dead set against a butane torch-powered vaporizer...

Check out Triihouse's Daisy and Lily units in the portables forum. Most users, including myself, remark that it's vapor output and quality rivals many desktops in strength and power.

If you want something without butane power, I've never used one, but the Mighty/Crafty people often mention how it is a good unit for people switching from combustion as it produces lots of thick dense vapor that former smokers would appreciate.

Otherwise, I would say get a Versa Infinity except they are not on the market.

No matter what you choose, do your due diligence and read the threads of the respective products so you really know what you're getting into.

^^^ What they said But I gotta ask,
Have you spent time in the DBV and LSV threads here? Lot's of info there and folks will tell you how to get the most out of your current vapes. I've used a LSV with the direct draw wand with as little as .10 and gotten giant hits and dark brown ABV with what I'm pretty sure was just the standard screen setup (not my LSV).

I don't know that new tech has really produced a heavier hitting vape then the LSV, but you may be able to make it more efficient if you ask how to in the LSV thread.

PLENTY has to be a contender to. Always consistently vaped goods, large chamber, awesome clouds. Pretty much fool proof to use, no learning curve. Only downside I find is that it's heavy on herb. All gets used and no waste, just happens very quickly

There are a few methods to improve the efficiency of the 7th Floor Vapes. There's @Tweak's EQ basket screen mod, there's the VaporBrothers mini and standard wand (both smaller than standard SSV), and 7th Floor sells a shorty wand.
Yup, an EQ screen w/ metal ring removed. I was using an adjustable basket screen before the e-nano was on the market, :D.

I find the VB mini too restricting because it narrows the load, while the EQ screen + standard allows for log size loads (and bigger) that are wider than they are deeper, keeping the original unrestricted airflow of the standard wand. And you can direct the SSV standard HC, so you can work your way around the entire load, instead of just the top of the load.

Funny though I've been using my JoDa SSV GonG as a very short wand/stem and like it tons better than the VB mini, yet it's the same ID. Maybe it's the way the VB mini tapers to a small hole.

Consider a lighter abv as being spent. I am coming to the realization that dark abv doesn't necessarily mean spent. More often it means being exposed to high heat and scorching. But you can get a load completely spent in the Herbalaire without ever going over 400F. You can also completely extract with the Herbalizer and still have a light tan color.

I sympathize with the cloud chaser in you. But 7th Floor products are still great for us. I can get smoother, tastier hits (that is totally subjective, btw) from other vapes, but not much more cloud production. The SSV is a beast and I have considered getting one again, even though I already work the Herbalizer, Evo and MiniVap in a rotation. For efficiency, consider the VaporBrothers minim whip, which makes the SSV better at smaller loads. You're right that the stock wand requires a larger load to work well.

I agree. In my experience, if you start with higher heat, you get darker ABV. Starting at low temp and working your way up produces a lighter ABV.
I've chased darker ABV for years with different vapes and have come full circle right back to 7th floor's products.

IMO, they both require an almost fully loaded bowl to vaporize well, and I'm trying to be at least somewhat efficient.

If you really want to spice your LSV and DBV up, you could add some different glass adapters. I'm thinking you could get a custom made 18-18mm adapter, something like a 10mm tube between two 18mm male GG fittings that would hold a e-nano screen. Super efficient and would create some much needed back pressure on smaller loads.

There's @Tweak's EQ basket screen mod, there's the VaporBrothers mini and standard wand (both smaller than standard SSV), and 7th Floor sells a shorty wand.

I'd add that I believe the popular thing on the LSV thread now is using a ELB and/or EQ elbow screen, with ring in place.

@mitchgo61 the enano was actually one of the 3 vaporizers I was looking at.
The fact that It can stand on its own is a huge upgrade from the lsv. Granted I did have a stand for my lsv, but it was always seemed to get really hot after only 5 min or so on the stand. Not extremely hot, but uncomfortably hot.
@Mister G I'm open to all types of vapes regardless of their extraction method. I have tried one butane powered vape a while back, I believe the name was, vape or smoke, but it combusted the herb and it left me with a negative experience with butane powered vaporizers.
@RUDE BOY you know, strangely enough, I have not spent any time in the DBV and lsv threads. I guess I ignorantly assumed I knew almost everything to know about them because of their ease of use. I'll be sure to read through them later tonight. And I have only used the transfer wand once and found the vapor to be a little too harsh for my seasoned smoker lungs, so I prefer the wpa.
@Chainfish for some funny reason I don't like the plenty. But I've never tried it, so I can't justify my reasoning. I just once read something about the restriction being a problem and the constant pressing of the handle to be a nuisance so I never really looked into the plenty again, but I'll be sure too now.
@chimpybits I use the shorty wpa and I still have to load more then half the bowl to get a good vapor and dark abv going. But as @stickstones stated, maybe the color of the abv isn't what indicates a spent load. I'll be sure to try out that screen mod tonight though, thanks for the tip.
@stickstones my man, fellow cloud chaser! It's a certain love/habit thats comes with years upon years of combustion. I just need that milky cloud everytime I vape, but if there's a vape that can get me equally or more medicated with less visible vapor, then that's fine with me too.
Is the herbalizer worth every penny though? As much as money isn't an

I accidently pressed the 'post reply button' so this is continuing on from my previous post.
@stickstones as much as money isn't an issue, it's hard for me to spend almost that much money on a vaporizer. Regardless if it's the best.
Oh and I love the 7th floor products, they have treated me good with friendly and reliable customer service and their products are tanks. I just really want a new vaporizer, as I have had these for quite sometime. It's the VAS. I never knew their was a proper term to define this feeling until I stumbled across FC.
I understand what you're saying on the cloud production, thanks for clearing that up for me, because I always look into heavy cloud producing vapes. I'm just now starting to really look for the best extracting vape.
Also, how is the minivap and vapexhale cloud evo? Does it cook the herb evenly and thoroughly? How reliable are they?

@Tweak thanks for that, it really changes my mind on just buying a new vaporizer. I have always been satisfied with my lsv. I kinda just want a new vaporizer though, ya know? But I will keep in mind what you said about always returning to your 7th floor vaporizer.
I actually bought an 18/18 mm male to male adapter at my LHS, but the middle part that separates the two male ends was way too big to fit a screen inside so I ended up just sticking with the wpa 7th floor provides.
And I have been hearing about the elb and eq elbow screens for the lsv, I just haven't been able to find one yet. Worse comes to worse ill just order it online. I really hate ordering things online, Fuck delayed gratification, I want that shit now!

Yeah I know the feels, :). I couldn't resist the urge of the VXL Cloud, but couldn't get it to hit as hard as my SSV.

You could always try my LSV/SSV mod. I've never been happier than with my current set-up, so minimalist, easy, and consistent.

Also add the Sublimator to your list. I hear it is a beast and is unmatched in power. Would love to try one.

btw I was referring to this: The SSV Shorty Standard Glass Wand.
You: the LSV Shorty Transfer Wand?

7th Floor now also offers a smaller capacity wand (shallower). No word on it afaik around here, but many are happy with Tweak's basket screen mod on the SSV thread and there's the LSV thread using a ELB and/or EQ elbow screen. Searching either should get you there.

Edit. Get a log!:luv: I've loved you soooo long - from afar alas :ugh:
The worth of having more than 1 vape in your kit has been much discussed as has the difference between vapes in terms of effects (@stickstones-coined vape "signature") ...

You may want to take a look at The Hammer / Hammer Pro Vaporizer also.
It's very good at cloud production. You can basically go till the ABV is as dark as you want it.
It's quick to warm up. (30-45 second from cold to ready to use)
It works great with small amounts of material.
And as a bonus it is fairly reasonably priced.

If you take a look at some videos by @paytonpenn , in the Hammer thread, you can see how well it works.

The Sublimator is only my third vaporizer..... I keep waiting to see something that hits like it... If there is something out there let me know...

I was a former Bong smoker and for me the way the Sub extracts all the goodness out of a huge load, in just one huge "Bong" like hit, is what set it apart for me... And the fact you can turn it up all the way and Dab like an e-nail is a huge plus... I like the OG design...

I'm the same way, and the only thing that I've found that can hit like the sub is my versa infinity. It's kind of a cross between an evo and an ssv, with more of an ssv-type ceramic heater but much more powerful.

@chimpybits oh shit, I was way off. I thought you were talking about the shorty WPA.

I've been liking these butane vapes a lot, also. Thank you all for the helpful advice and suggestions. I have one more question, is the mighty worth it? Because it seems like an excellent portable vaporizer for around the house, but I wonder if the plastics durability is going to become an issue over time. It seems like an issue that's going to be unavoidable as the years go by. Also, the battery shitting out on you faster than the typical portable vaporizer battery would, resulting in shipping it to s&b every year, maybe? I'm basically just wondering if the mighty is a smart investment, because dropping $480 on a portable vaporizer is way too much to me. But, if it's worth every penny, I'm sold. So, people who own a mighty, what are your thoughts?

If you want the hardest hitting vape, its the sub. It hits harder than any vape I own or have tried. It is an extraction machine! It is not a vape for anyone prone to clumsiness though. You can pick up some nice war wounds with it.

iolites have been in use since '08 with no issues. Space age plastics are a lot different that what's used with cheap toys.

Seems like you're making assumptions on battery life. I've got a DaVinci that's still going after 3 years of regular use. Give S&B some credit. I'm sure they've subjected their portables to some long term testing.
dropping $480 on a portable vaporizer is way too much to me.
It's too much for me as well, but nobody can decide whether it's worth it or not but you. I think it's safe to say that you're not gonna get a bunch of Mighty buyers telling you it's not worth the money.

@max thanks for clearing that up man. Its just, I've been seeing quite a few people with cracks on their units already, and that's a hard thing to swallow considering how expensive it is. But if the plastic they use is durable enough to withstand years of use, then im interested in it. I'll just be sure to be extra careful with mine.
And regaurding assumption, that's exactly what I'm doing, man. Haha
Ive never owned a mighty so I'm just voicing my concerns about it, waiting for someone with a mighty to chime in and tell me what's up.
Oh dude S&B is supposedly the best, right? They don't even need people to consider them top quality when they themselves know they're one of the best companies around. I'm not bashing them in any way, I'm just feeling a little crazy spending 480 on a vaporizer, so I'm just telling you guys all of my concerns before I make the purchase.
I see where you're coming from though, man. Ill do some more reading about the mighty and decide if Its worth the purchase for my expectations.
Thanks for the help.

@NinjaMindTriks You Know what, That seems to be the general consensus regaurding the sub. I'm really feeling the whole thing. How's the customer service and warranty for the sub? Do they treat you good, and are good about replacing broken parts and what not?

Sometimes we just get tired of the same vaporizer and we need to switch things around a bit. Dark ABV isn't always the best tasting vapor. A lot can be said for technique and the type of draw you are using. Also the heat makes a difference. You are vaporizing to get medicated so that is the bottom line, not the color of your ABV.

A good idea to revisit some of the threads, a lot of different ideas floating around. I have a hard time getting dark ABV with certain kinds of herb. Skywalker OG is a strain that stay fairly light when spent.

I'm always finding little tips that I haven't heard before when reading through the different threads.

@CarolKing yeah, I totally agree @stickstones pointed that out to me, and lately, I've been coming to that realization regaurding dark abv, too.
Thanks for the advice, man. Ill be sure to read through older threads, as well.
Interesting what you said about the skywalker. I too, have been noticing that with different strains but, I never took that into consideration. I just thought that I wasn't loading the bowl the same way as I always do.

Oh dude S&B is supposedly the best, right?
They came out with the 'best' vaporizer about 15 years ago, but after a while they only had the best bag fill vape, and these days quite a few other companies offer models that don't take a back seat in the quality dept. Vaporizers have moved, shopping wise, into the realm of vehicles and other products where you have to decide on what vaping methods and features you want, in order to make a decision. There are categories where the Mighty clearly isn't the best, as in the size dept. if you want a vape that's easy to pocket. You can also get a better warranty with some other brands, and value/price wise, it's certainly not a bargain, especially when you have to pay for battery replacement down the road.
I'm just feeling a little crazy spending 480 on a vaporizer
Then don't jump on it so quick. There's no magic or super high tech to it. Consider this dealer/distributor as well, if you're not sure, since they allow you to try it and return it if you're not satisfied.
