Yeah man! Hit that! :brow:

Ha! I too know that I would most DEFINITELY be jumpin them bones if I had the available funds ('cuz then my good lady would even encourage me to get it as opposed to kickin' my ass to the curb which is how it would currently pan out!) - I know it isn't exactly 'cheap', but really, that term is soooo subjective that I'm not sure what cheap or expensive even means anymore in realation to this product! Admittedly, that may be mostly attributable to hearing about it's most troubled of upbringings

I guess what I am really hoping for is the day when there are Vapman Stations all over the place . . . it'd be soooo cool going to a friends, vapor lounge, or coffee shop in the Dam & seeing Power Stations dotted around - pretty much the kinda presence which has already been achieved by S&B with the Volcano.

And then of course, there is always the possibility of 'Party' Stations equipped with multiple thrones upon which to sit yours and several of your friends V'men all at the same time! A Vapman orgy if you will!

So many possibilities! I sincerely hope this thing gets the backing it deserves.

. . . . And then, we're still not gonna forget the good ol' 'tane of course ;)

Oh yeah, anyway, I cant afford one right now :D

But I can't wait to hear the FC reviews and all about any subsequent MacGyver projects (while possibly trying out my own Vapman-Adapt-a-Power-Sub-Station)

Exciting times.

Yep yep yep.

Have a krunchy Friday ya'll :ko:

Hey, this has real possibilities I'm thinking! I see at least two possible themes. First based on Frat parties where a ring of increasingly rowdy party types, singing at full volume and off key, stagger past the punch bowl (substituting a VM heating station) to dip their cups in for a reload (substitute reheating their VM).

For the more sedate, I say we steal the huge Lazy Susan from the nearest Chinese restaurant's big table in the back, rig a slip ring power feed to it, mount the station to it and rotate it around to those seated who haven't passed out yet? Arms on the chairs, with seat belts, could prevent stoppages.

Or a Star Wars theme. We get a 'life size' R2D2 to go around the room (person to person), beep and raise it's domed lid to reveal the (battery powered) station underneath........

We gotta get Pipes in on this. Who wants to break it to him?

Not long ago vapman did say he rigged up something for a friend with a soldering iron one night that worked and got him working on something more refined and user friendly that is now the Vapman station.

Seems something DIY will turn up sooner then later, i expected to read peoples ideas after I read his post on that in his little history of the station post.

Yep @RUDE BOY, that's exactly where I'm coming from, & like you I thought I might have heard more of people 'hashing' something together already.

I was thinking about doing something with my Sub as soon as I read the Power Station story, and @Melting Pot has also come forward with an idea. I'm sure we will start to see various attempts before too long . . . how successful they will be is another question.

I did actually take my ceramic Hako 936 adjustable temp soldering iron to my Vapman briefly the other night . . . . I managed to achieve a light vapor but then I got tired & that was that for the night. I'm sure I'll have a play again at some point though :science:

Oh yeah, @OF, I am seriously liking your thinking! - Getting strapped in for a few spins on the Vapman table?! Do I need insurance? Oh wtf! Count me in!!

Actually man, back in the day when I first came to FC, I made a thread about designing a new vaporizer. My plan was to use this exact hybrid approach, I was inspired by the Lotus though, as I had not heard of the vapman by then.

Also guys, cost is fair I believe. Aside from the costs of labor and the vape itself (I'm sure labor would be the priciest element of building the vapman), you guys need to appreciate that the electronics in the station are quite sophisticated compared to vapes we dole out plenty of money for all the time.

Rather than using a simple variable resistor rotary dimmer like pretty much every other temp knob controlled vape all the way up to the sublimator, Rene (apologies, I can't get that accent on my keyboard) has made this device considerably more sophisticated. The light flashing after the vapman is ready to use, also indicating that the station has warmed up to temp before hand. Finally the automatic shutdown if the vapman is left on the station too long...

All of this stuff represents a more challenging job for design and assembly. Also necessitates more electronic components to be used in the design. I would imagine much more trial and error during design/development because of more electronic factors to go wrong too!

I will be buying a vapman station in large part out of appreciation of more sophisticated vapes than I've had previously (whilst still having the crude flame heat option - a nice bit of added versatility), after all, so many vapes we still use and love are basically a soldering iron heater attached to a lamp dimmer with varying outer shells lol

Hey 250 is a pretty penny but shipping is free all over the world is what facebook says..so it is total..and if u get the combo u get that and a classic vapman plus lighter plus screens for 350..which is not bad at all..I think vapman has priced his vapman very affordable and with the amount of time to make the station I think it is well worth it..im down..

I just ordered a vm classic a lighter and some screens so it does kindof make me wish i had been a little more patient considering the package offering update. i already have a VM Basic and a slew of other vapes to use while i awaited the pricing update. But, i knew the risk the station price would be more than expected and that a good package discount may be offered once available, and i took the second vm plunge anyway so really only myself to blame. And Vapma would have to pay shipping a second time, so i can't expect the same deal when i actually break up the transactions Into two international shipments.

That said, i feel that Rene the Vapman himself is worth supporting so the station will remain on my radar, and probably be a "need" once the stellar reviews and videos trickle in from everyone here. But for the moment i will await my second VM and simply dream.

Would I be correct assuming PayPal will be accepted for the VM Station? Has anyone got confirmation of payment yet? TIA

I asked, but have not heard back. Since they want your name and address I assume they'll send a link for us to put in our carts and pay for in the normal manner.

I also asked if substitutions on wood were allowed on the package deals, I already have pear ones......

First guy to find out how this works out posts?

Omg I hope so on the substitutions I want walnut!

Just wondering moderator opinion here, is the heating station worthy of its own thread? I like the idea of two seperate threads as this one will get slammed quick. Just wondering what is appropriate? Does someone report my post to inquire for moderator input?

And thanks to the early buyers. Im already jealous.

I believe the discussion should stay here, we're still going to be talking about the vapman itself. I kind of see it being the same as when the PA was introduced into the mflb world since it still is just another way to use the vapman i already have. I know I'll still be using the torch too.

Me to. I think it'd be nifty if the wood got repatriated after going 8 or more time zones East for 'the treatment'. Then again, I don't have a single thing made of Hawthorn......not even sure exactly what it is......

I'm not a moderator, but IIRC this came up on another thread for a different vape. The ruling was it doesn't qualify for it's own thread until it's a released product folks can buy?

Best way to find out is probably by PM.

Ah, yes, the old 'Alt Numeric trick' (you have to use the numeric keypad the top row won't work). It's a holdover from DOS, I think confined to Window OSs? Does it work on Macs, Iphones, and Androids and stuff like that?

OF is correct. But even when it becomes available, I don't think it will need it's own thread as it is more of an accessory than it's own vaporizer.

Exactly, it's not a different vaporizer, just a different (much more sophisticated) heater option for the same vaporizer ;)

On it's own it would not make much sense to have it's own vaporizer thread. After all, how much vaping could we do with a vapman station alone? lol

On Macs running recent(ish) software, you can hold down any vowel key for a second or so and a little bubble will pop up with alternatives that can be chosen by clicking or with a numeric shortcut. In this case, holding 'E' for a second and then pressing '2' gets us: é.

On older Macs (as well as the new ones), you can hold 'Option' and press 'E' to get the ´ mark started, then press the 'E' key again to place the vowel under it: é.

On iPhone and the Androids, it gets complicated depending on whether you're using a stock or custom keyboard (and in the case of Android, which stock keyboard…)

Good point. The PA for MFLB is included in the Launch Box thread, basically the same as here?

Then again, hopefully 'everyone' will have one it will be like lighters are now? We manage to include them with the more important discussion of trees, razors and such here.......

Have you every noticed that when the Vapman is fully warmed up, you can take a long draw on the stem and something paradoxical happens???: the vapor seems spicier/hotter at the end than when the bowl had just been heated by the torch. This doesn't make sense until you put the pieces together. I've heard it said that there is science behind this device, and I've heard it said that it is really magical, bit perhaps it is some combination of both and Vapman has invented/stumbled upon/or been gifted with time travel technology?

Hear me out. I really think I'm onto something here!

I suspect something is happening inside the gold coated copper cone which reverses time when heat from the torch is applied and returns time to its normal forward progression when you begin drawing upon the stem.

So once you have heated the bowl and begin drawing on the stem, the torch from the future/past begins warming the bowl for you, giving you that pleasant increasing spiciness over time without the harshness that might exist if @vapman was not taking advantage of this time travel paradox to boost vaping performance.

The origin of this time travelling vaporizing technology is still unknown, but most of us can agree after a few sessions with this diminutive little UFO, that it is truly out of this world!

:science:While I agree that time travelling is possible with the vapman, I believe it happens a few minutes after the first draw and involves the user rather than the vapman! :D :D

I also believe that part of the magic of it has to do with the fact that while it's mostly a conduction/radiation vaporizer, the heating cycle is more similar to a convection one. The load is not heated all the time but the temp rises, reaches vaporisation levels and then drops again below them. That's what gives the vapman the superior taste profile imo over other conduction vapes out there. Are there any other vaporizers using a similar heating method? I can't recall any...

EDIT: I remembered! The MFLB does it as well but it's weaeaeaeak so... :p And another one that I can't recall the name that had vibration as well but it's still not out there...

Here is my improvised long draw stem. The glass mouth piece is from the arizer EQ stuff. It really makes a concentrate session more enjoyable. Huge clouds!!

The wong is a shaved down cork with a MFLB stem shoved through it. Its like me... not sexy but gets the job done ;)

I will get proper stuff from Ed one day. My wallet has taken an absolute WAS, GAS, and VAS beating the last few months!

Last but not least is my Spoker V1. I could only find one set of stainless steel measuring spoons at the big mall on Friday arvo. I searched almost every store lol. I might make a V2 at some point if I use this one enough. It's great for flicking the screens out and makes loading a breeze. The spoon would be better if it was half the volume though.
