Are Nectar Collectors Really the Future of Dabbing?

Do you guys think nectar collectors are really the future of dabbing? I used one this weekend and thought it was pretty damn amazing compared to your standard dab rig. I like how you can gauge the intake of your dabs with the titanium tip rather than guess the amount that's going to get you blow off your ass. The only negative that I found is that it seems as though the titanium tip might break if it's heated too much, but I may just worrying about that.

I don't do titanium for oils. It is simply just not as tasty as other substrates (quartz/sapphire/ceramic/SiC).

Also, since I have multiple enails at my disposal always ready to dab, I have little need for anything torch operated lol
I have spent a couple thousands of dollars chasings a dab system that beats a torch. The VB2 definitely beats it in consistency of great dab after dab but it breaks down often. I have been dabbing for a few years and I find that the money I spent on well made custom glass was well spent, the money I spent on chasing a non torch solution was not.

But back on topic. What are these nectar collectors and why do they make things better?

Just out of curiosity, did you ever buy a dnail? Did you ever use any good enail? It doesn't sound like you gave this torchless expedition a red hot go (pun intended) lol

Read quite a few peoples posts around here that claim quartz and ceramic are not the end all either so it really comes down to individual taste buds.
I agree. My own opinion changes about that sometimes. It seems like some oils taste better on Ti and some taste better on Quartz. Those are the only 2 options that I have.

Well, in my experience, using only the highest quality absolute shatters which are winterized, sub-micron filtered and free of any chlorophyll or plant material (basically we're talking straight cannabinoids/terps) there is an unequivocal taste improvement on quartz over titanium. Flavour is better again on ceramic, however ceramic has it's own drawbacks which must be considered (fragility, heat up/cooldown time etc).

I am not saying that any given substrate (with the exception of SiC, which I will reserve judgement on til I try it) is the be all end all, but I will say that ti is unequivocally the worst tasting, when comparing high end Ti to high end Quartz or even the domeless.com ceramic.

Still, this comes with the caveat - YMWV depending on the quality of setup you use overall. The quality of nail and carb designs vary WILDLY between different brands/makes. The majority of quartz domeless nails I have seen look like stuff to stay well away from, poor dish placement, ill-considered carb hole size vs air intake hole of nail going into your piece etc. These considerations apply to other nails too.

First, you wanna be sure you are testing the material you believe you are testing. For Ti, I only use HE titanium (which is certified gr2 Ti), whereas the only quartz I have used for testing has been pukinbeagle's various efforts.

I'm not going to go to great lengths arguing this but I will be clear that I have found that when comparing apples to apples in terms of quality/make, I have never found Ti to taste better than anything else I've dabbed on!

Ah, only saw the pen/atomizer. Sorry.

I still am not a fan of NC, but they are a fun party toy. :)

I don't usually hit dabs or flowers through water. But I like the short path from heat / vapor to mouth that those little nector collectors have..

The most flavor I ever got out of a dab was doing a dab off a Sub turned upside down hitting only off a down stem... omg not sure if it's even good for you but it sure was full flavor and a straight to the face it hit ya!.. I called it a suicide dab, my wife told me she thought it looked bad... lol I kinda agree,

edit: I just did one ( about to do another ) and got ripped! it seems like the small path leaves no surface to loose any vapor on, yeah its kinda hot but really taste amazing and seems to make the tiniest dab go farther...

the future of dabbing is electric suicide dabs...

THANK YOU
I don't get everyone using these multi-perc dab rigs. This thing hits you straight to the face. You get all the vapor. Reclaim? forget it, there is none. Surprisingly really smooth too. you almost feel like you didn't get anything at first then you blow out this enormous hit and it smacks you in the brain like electric shock therapy

PS If the water doesn't come out of a nectar collector, how the hell do you clean it?
PPS this guy has posted this is in like every other cannaforum i visit.. sketchy

I don't wanna post links sorry I got scolded last time lol. Google "grav concentrate taster" got it at my LHS

Some places say the dish is quartz. I don't buy it though. My friend broke his heating it up but I'm guessing he was using propane torch. Use butane torch low flame you'll be aok

fwiw, my fav setups are all quartz or quartz/ti or sapphire/ti hybrids...i don't like dabbing straight off TI much. the sapphire discs are similar to quartz or ceramic in flavor....

I do agree a bit with what herbivore is saying above, I do think ti tastes worse overall, I think you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between quartz and ceramic after a couple of uses, but after many uses, the ceramic will start tasting nasty a lot quicker, and seems to require a lot more frequent cleaning. It's also more nerve wracking to clean, as it can crack more easily. The sapphire discs are even easier to crack than the ceramic and I'm honestly afraid of even cleaning it now after I ruined my first one and already have a crack forming in my second one. They clean up perfect everytime, even better than ceramic, but at that price tag and at the rate I've been cracking them, I'm not sure it's a great option. I can't stand my ti nails without it though.

and no nectar collectors (dab straws, as I used to jokingly call them) are not the be-all-end-all of dabbing, they're just yet another thing. I have one, but it pretty much never gets used. They do have an enail one out now, maybe if I had that it'd see more use, but I think even more so they're kinda unwieldy and somewhat more annoying to use. I'm sure you can get some kind of stand or something to make it easier, but it's just always a bit more involved.

I'm currently on a tossup between my quartz bangers, the genesis nail, and my new HE flip top w/sapphire disc as my 3 favorite nails right now....
