You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...

Two days in the books and the VM is growing on me nicely! My first intention was to use it only with the VM Station. That lasted until I saw Out For Delivery, I went to LHS gave them a ten spot for a lighter I probably could have got 3 of from China:

Got home and the USPS wagon was two mailboxes before mine, Yahtzee! Pulled in my driveway and after a quick friendly chat with the mail lady, she forked over the goodies. You guys already know the rest.

That rabbit hole is starting to get crazy!

Ok guys. Convince me to get a vapman. I want a super portable way to vape hash.

What are the materials that the airpath of this fucker is made of, just how cheaply could I get one. Does the classic really get better results/convection taste. Is it possible to combust with this easily?

@herbivore21 the vapman is probably the easiest, cleanest and smallest way to vape any type of hash. Put 2 screens in, then your hash, stick another screen on top. Heat and enjoy.

-Air path and bowl are gold plated copper
-stainless steel filter
-wood middle section
-pom plastic or wood mouth piece

The classic doesn't provide any more convection action than the basic. There isn't much convection going on anywhere anyway. They both just use magic (it has been discussed a few pages ago).

You will have to check out pricing for yourself but a pear basic is the bare bones model. I fucking love mine.

If you are gonna be vaping shit tons of hash then stock up on screens and hit up Ed for a longer wooden mouth piece to cool the vapor some more. You might want to consider a classic to deal with the extra heat that hash demands.

Also check out the new heating station!!

Is that enough convincing?

Seriously? :p

O.k. :)

Airpath? What airpath?! It's virtually non-existent! It's sooooo damn direct!

But basically your material sits in a copper crucible where it is heated - the resulting vapor passes through a stainless steel screen into a short wooden airpath and finally through your chosen material of mouthpiece (standard plastic or wooden upgrade).

That, as they say, is that.

Yes, it is easy to combust, if you want to - but you are using a lighter after all! However most find that the technique is super easy to get down.

And yes, all what @Nugg (The Australian Vapman Ambassador) just said!

Do us a favour, plug me into a Sega! No, really @herbivore21, check out the rest of this thread & just get one already!!!

The fact that you are asking the question means you are actually only delaying the inevitable :brow:

That is a great start! Greetings fellow Aussie! POM is especially interesting as my lab charts tell me this particular plastic has excellent resistance to isopropyl for reclaiming.

Tell me, does any internal wooden part of the airpath end up with a build-up of oil on it? That really used to piss me off with previous vapes with wooden parts. I want to clean any parts which get removed for cleaning with a solvent for reclaim purposes (except the actual bowl itself, for which I will accept having to use cotton buds). I cannot be fucked manually scraping ANY part of a vape to clean it.

So the heating station is also not mentioned at all on the vapman site that I can see. I noticed it mentioned on the 12th page of this thread and it sounds great, but that mention of this product was a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time ago. Is there anything I've missed which gives us cause to believe that this device will be available now/soon?

Cheers my friend :D hmm, short wooden part of airpath. Have you found that this gets gunked up from heavy use of super melty bubble (because seriously, I am known to vacuum that vapor down sometimes!)? My only concern at this stage is the wooden part of the airpath.

Also, can someone who has used some/any of the vapes I own/have owned compare the taste of this vape to one (or even better, more than one) of the others I've had with the same material?

I almost only vape hash or oil in my vapman, and yes, the wood gets gunked up with heavy use. A quick acetone soak, and you have your self some stoney reclaim. I prefer to use it for edibles.

Combustion is easy, but easy to avoid.

Sorry, the only overlapping vapes we have is the PnP, and this is another level in all aspects.

@herbivore21 I got into this thread around page 80. Head there and start reading. Lots and lots of good info. The heating station makes a triumphant entrance a few pages back.

@VegNVape is right. You're just delaying the inevitable.

The wooden middle section can be soaked in acetone to clean it. If you can't reclaim from it, it wouldn't be a huge loss.

Taste is ok. Not as good as my solo but you can still start low and milk some extra flavour. I tend to be a vapmaniac though and cash my bowls pretty quickly.

Do you try to get the 1 hitter quitter?

I sometimes reheat 2 or 3 times during one big breath.
Heh yeah, but it's not really my preferred method - 2 or 3 hits are quick enough & generally seem to get me a bit more 'bang for my buck' in my experience.

I find that moving the flame in a VERY small circular motion around the crucible as opposed to keeping it dead still in the centre when heating, makes one hitters a breeze.

Does anyone else think that drawing on the Vapman can feel like sucking a warm, cozy, velvety drink through a tiny straw?

Tiz unlike any other. At least for me :)

 Just gorgeous @vapmanjoe ......... I  your Yew model! A yew and an ebony are on my 'really need to have' list, along with one of @M0J0's engraved beauties. A little Vapmanphilia you say? I'd say we all suffer here in abundance! :D

How did the ebony trial go @vapman ?? Was it a success, or did the ebony prove too difficult to work with? Am I dreaming, or did you also mention before, that you would be offering another short run of Limited Edition Yews?

I used to have a Lotus, the vigorous circular motion (hitherto unknown to the people in this area but destined to replace the mudshark in their mythology) [/Zappa] that you describe was required by the instructions for the lotus from memory. This was to ensure even heat distribution and avoid conductive/radiant hotspots (which are a great way to make a cherry form in the load and start combustion!).

Hey by the way guys, the warning about overheating and or frequent use causing flaking of the gold plate sounds like unsafe material to me!!!

Could one not inhale bits of heated gold (or their thermal degradation byproducts) in this kind of case???

Hey man :)

Seriously, the crucible is so tiny, and it would be such a small amount over a period of time that I really do not think this would be anything to worry about.

I'm sure @vapman has been questioned on this before & put peoples minds at ease.

What about Goldschlager? Lots of people ingest gold in other ways. I realise inhaling is different however.

I think the risk is negligible.

But if you really were that unhappy with it, you could always rub it down to the copper base . . .

Keep trying @herbivore21 ;)

If by chance a gold flake were to get pulled into one of the "air inlet tubes" it would have to make it through either the Herb or the concentrate screen than past the middle screen and through the mouth piece before getting in to your lungs.

I think it's highly unlikely you can inhale any gold flake from Vapman.

No need to worry about those hot spots. Straight conduction here, the surface inside never gets past vaping temperature (400F, give or take). Clever design, isn't it?

And I wouldn't worry about the Gold, it's basically inert. Which is why king Tut's mask doesn't need polishing even a couple dozen centuries later....... You can eat the stuff (and people do) without issues.....except the cost of course. Or drink it, 'Goldwasser' being popular with the Dutch since before Plymouth Rock. I seriously doubt even a tiny flake could make it into you without sticking somewhere first, but if it did your body would treat it same as any other non hazardous debris.

In any event it would be cold by then, pure Gold (there are no "thermal degradation byproducts" since it's a pure element.

Better to enjoy the VM than worry about such things I think?
