You've made your skepticism of the company's legitimacy very clear. All of the above has been raised ad nauseum throughout over 200 pages of this thread. Your comments add nothing to the discussion without any solid proof of wrongdoing, just more speculation and noise.

If you would like to discuss these matters further, feel free to PM me, but do not continue accusatory posts in this thread as they can only be considered company bashing and we don't allow that around here.

I am too. Hell, we all are. Let's keep it civil.

:peace:

You're the staff, so I'll have to shut up. But, come on... What people do on forums like this is write stuff "ad nauseum." Geez, I have fewer than 30 posts. I find it hard to believe those with thousands of posts have mostly written with absolute originality. Oh, and it's mostly speculation and subjective experience reporting. That's the charm, and potential value, of forums. As for "company bashing"....well there's also consumer protection (as in, caveat emptor: let the buyer beware). I'm on the consumer protection side of things. One person's bashing is another's effort to protect against wasted money.

I love forum moderators who have settled issues of appropriate civility that have been debated for centuries. My humble opinion: preventing a reasonable exchange of ideas is the deadliest of all civility sins. How about erring on the side of only censoring false speech which mighty directly incite harmful action (e.g., yelling "fire" in a movie theatre when no such event exists, threatening somebody with violence, etc.).

...most of the people with thousands of posts stay in this Forum because it is so well moderated. I know this is one of less than a handful that I ever read anymore...too much fucking bullshit in the rest of them...:nod:

@Legal in Washington State The posts need to stay respectable or you will get yourself in trouble with Stu. Obviously this thread gets you angry.

Everyone knows it's a gamble to invest in something that hasn't been put into production or fully developed. Let alone an unknown company that's never made a vaporizer before.

Most of us here aren't thinking conspiracy theory I don't believe.

It's really too bad a representative from the company can't come on FC and explain some of the difficulty and some kind of explanation as to what's going on. I think folks deserve that much.

EDIT
I think a little humble honesty can go a long way.

I was just thinking the same thing. Maybe they are afraid to face an "angry mob?"

...that we are and that we have...

Yup. We all have the same reoccurring dream which is that each of us have one of these that we can all call our very own and that will keep us company on those cold and rainy nights. Even the one color on this box gives us GH goosebumps every time we look at it:

Made this account just to say I've been following this product since July of last year and I almost preordered before the latest update. Now I'm done with the GH, which is a shame because I wanted to break into vaping. Oh well.

The setbacks of the GH team shouldn't make you give up on getting into vaping. It's definitely worth a try either way. As many here have already mentioned, there are plenty of other options available. Hope that's not what ya meant.

I emailed Trevor asking if they had to make any changes to the heater when they flew to the manufacturer. Here is what I got:

"We did not change the heater at all when we were at the manufacturer. We
had to do some negotiation and worked with them on a good solution.
Everything is the same, save for us having a heart attack about the
situation when they called us. I know people are complaining, but we have to be
honest about the situation, and that is what happened."

Hey Trevor,
I know the update for this month just landed, but I was hoping for some clarification on some things. I do appreciate your guys' ability to be so transparent with your updates, I believe some people take this for granted with your company. It's not the norm by any means. First, when you said, "By our departure on Friday afternoon, our manufacturer was assuring us that heaters would begin shipping in within the month," does this mean by end of March or within April? Next, you mentioned, "Look for more units to trickle out over the next few weeks as the heater manufacturer gets into gear." Does this mean that some production units have been shipped to backers/indie gogo people? Third, with the changing designs for manufacturing sake, are there any concessions you have had to make that change the info given on the website; ie is the battery now pushing less wattage, heat up time change or battery life changes? Finally, this one is a two parter. Are we going to get any pictures of the Ti production models soon-ish? And what is the honest likely hood that I will see my green Ti by my estimated ship date, April? I know these have been issues with manufacturing and not directly your guys' fault, I was just really excited for April and I want to calm my expectations if I'm not going to see my green Ti in April. Thanks for the update and for the hard work. Good luck.

This is the response I received.

Hi dirtd1v3r,

Thanks for contacting me. A few quick responses:

1. This means within April. They are expecting to start within a week or two. We really pushed them hard because of the....crap....they pulled.

2. Some units have gone to people who backed the project very early and we know are happy to have it replaced if anything went wrong. This helps us because it is like prelim testing on the production units. We are working on widening that birth now to the earliest backers.

3. There have been no concessions to what is listed on our website. The stats often exceed what is listed there.

4. We will post pics of the Ti and Color units as soon as we have the final ones. Even right now it is really hard for me to say if you will get it in April or not. It's a toss up with lots of variables. I get tons of requests for exact ship dates and I want to provide them but it is impossible right now. The best I can do is let you know as we get more information on the process and time frames.

Thanks for keeping a positive attitude and your excitement high. It will be worth the wait! We are doing our best to balance all of the tasks at hand and get this to you as quick as possible.

Best,

Trevor

yeah so it sounds like nothing has changed except shipping speed. That is def a nice little addition to their update and gives a better idea of time frames to hope to expect lol. Also can finally get rid of all the misinterpretations about specs changing and that. Things are just going to take longer than planned and hopefully they'll be getting them out quicker than they expect

Sheesh. They could save themselves a lot of grief by putting more details like these in their updates. :disgust:

So you've been watching one vaporizer for 8 months because you wanted that to be your first vaporizer? :bang:

How many times can we tell people - DON'T BUY THE GRASSHOPPER AS YOUR FIRST AND ONLY VAPE! This is still an unknown vape from a new company.

If anyone lurking this thread is looking for their first vaporizer, you should know to look somewhere else for a better "beginner's vape" - get something with a bunch of documentation, tips and tricks. Get something reliable that you know won't die after 1 month of heavy use.

FYI that "but" just earned you a warning point. Public discussion of staff decisions is not allowed. I would advise you to better familiarize yourself with our forum rules before contributing further.

:peace:

The :peace: is ironic, right?

My last comment on this....I'm not a lawyer, but, if it turns out Grasshopper is a fraud either due to malfeasance or incompetence, perhaps this forum could be liable for providing a forum (pun intended) for the perpetration of such fraud. Those posters, like myself, that are calling attention to the nefarious business practices that are known might be doing the forum owners and potential victims a service. Now, I realize that advertising revenue is king. So, the forum rules must not allow dissent, especially when biting hands that feed. It seems to me that eliminating this thread until the product is released would be the prudent course of action. Isn't the purpose of the "thread candidates" section to distinguish between products that are actually available versus fantasies? Yet, you'd think the Grasshopper is an actually available product based reading this thread. Kind of misleading to me.
