Hey Guys,

I just now joined this forum specifically to ask for your help. You see, I love smoking weed. But I need to stop, because it fucks with my voice. Why does that matter? Well, I'm an actor, and I work primarily in voiceover. So my voice is kinda important. The answer, it seems, is to start vaping instead. Now, my girlfriend has an alivi8 non electronic vaporizer which she can't seem to get to work. I've been able to get it working but the most I get out of it is a slight body high that lasts for maybe an hour. This is no good.

So, good people of Fuck Combustion, I come to you for advice. I want to buy a vaporizer that allows me to get blazed out of my mind but to keep my voice healthy. I also want to be able to take it with me to vape with my friends. Finally I'd like it to be efficient. I can't afford to buy tons and tons of weed.

Oh, and my budget is around $100. Maybe $150, but that's stretching it.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

DarkEspio,

GuyLeDuche

If you don't mind used this is a good price on excellent first/portable vape imo. New they can be had for under your $150 max as well.

But if I had $150 right now, I'd buy this lol:

That solo has already been sold, so don't get your hopes up on that particular one. But, he has a good point, the solo is recommended by many FC'ers and can be had for under your $150 max. The solo thread can be found here. If you're looking for good deals on used vapes, definitely check out the classifieds here.

If you're looking for battery powered, check out the Magic Flight Launch Box; many people love this vape as well. The original maple one goes for $119 on their website. The FC thread for it can be found here.

There's some good torch-powered vapes out there too. Check out the Lotus (FC thread here) for $109, the Vapman (FC thread here) for as low as $85, and the Lily (FC thread here) for $89.

If you like the candle-flame-based operation of the alivi8, but want better quality, check out VaporGenie products. They have a variety of products ranging from the Classic ($55) to the SS Coil ($35) to the Glass Sherlock ($109). They operate on pretty much the exact same principle as the alivi8, but don't discount it just for that. Personally, I've had great success with my VG Classic, I would recommend it to anyone (especially a newbie with a low budget -- it's why I got mine). The VG thread can be found here.

It's really hard to just blindly recommend a certain vape to someone, as they all have their pros and cons, and each one is best suited to its own particular uses. What one person would consider the best vape on the market, another might think is total crap. But I hope this helped. :) Good luck in your search for the right vaporizer for you, and more importantly, good luck in your decision to FuckCombustion!!!

Thanks, both of you. I'm actually looking to stay away from the torch vapes since I've had such a lousy experience with the alivi8. The main thing, other than the price, is that I'm not sure how a vaporizer effects the vocal chords, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a brand or a method that was especially easy on them. I know that, coupled with high efficiency and low price are asking a lot but, you know, why not ask?

Switching from smoking to vaporizing should be way easier on your vocal cords regardless of which vape and/or method you use. But I would look into water filtration if you are really concerned about it, as the cooler the vapor is upon reaching your airways, the less harsh or irritating it is. Many people on this forum almost exclusively vape through some sort of water pipe because otherwise the high temperatures involved are too irritating for them.

I think you need a vaporizer with as cool vapor as can be. My journey through vaporizers taught me that this vaporizer for me at this moment is Vapman. Don't let flame usage drive you away. The experience with torch lighters is much better. Better than batteries actually.
I would guide you away from te Solo. It's vapor is rather hot and harsh. Vapman mixes cool air with the vapor while inhaling and you get very potent and cool hits this way.

Don't let one bad apple (alivi8) spoil the whole batch. vapor genies, vapman, lotus, lily and daisy are all great torch based vaporizers..

You didn't mention if you wanted a portable or plug in? Is stealth an issue?
