So, I'm leaning very heavily toward getting a Solo (need to quit smoking ASAP because of living situation, and my Grasshopper probably won't arrive at least a month). I will probably get it via Vapeworld, using their FC-specific discount codes.

Anyone have any tips, tricks, concerns, or suggestions before I go ahead and purchase? (@CarolKing this is largely because of your recent posts in the GH thread.)

EDIT: I will also be looking for a slim, smellproof tube/container for carrying around a loaded Solo, if anyone has any recommendations.
For my Solo, I got end caps from planet vape and just keep the solo stem plus bag of herb and abv bag in a smelly proof bag or stink sack, works out nicely. An O ring might be useful too as the stem can get loose over time.

You can't go wrong with a Solo. I would read through about 20 pages or so to get caught up on the thread. There are different ways to customize a Solo, but I would wait until you get to know the unit first. It's a very easy portable that's why I suggested it as a first vaporizer. It gives your cannabis vapor very good flavor too.

Welcome aboard to the Solo bandwagon.

My Solo has been working flawlessly for over two years now. Herb, oils, tincs, concentrates - you name it, it does it! It is a champion of champions in my book! My number 1 "Go-to" "get er done" quick vape!!!

I have tried many vaporizers.
The SOLO is the best bang for the buck!

OK I'm prepared to be ridiculed but I've never used any kind of attachment with my solo. I have a teenaged son so discretion is critical. I think some of these set-ups are amazing but they aren't practical for me. I would really like to use a smaller attachment though now that I've seen a few.

I've seen cases specifically made for the solo on eBay for a lower price. I've been using a cosmetic bag.

D020 from dhgate and a 18mm gong is all you need. Planet vapes for the gong. I like PHVES.

Got my do20 last night, nice bubbler for the $ although I haven't used it yet. Still need a gong adapter so I ordered the 18mm carbed off planetvape. Wanted the no carb but it is never in stock so whatever no big deal. What is good to block the carb hole on those, a piece of cork or something? Also ordered a vortex stem per the great reviews. Kinda gearing up for summer I suppose! Still not done though, I think I am going to order the 187 and possibly that claisen I saw earlier. Is that claisen setup worth it? Looks cool and I bet it would be helpful for clearing the bubbler chamber and helping avoid monkeying around with the solo too much as it rests

Teflon plumbers tape works well for sealing holes and sealing joints.

I agree with ataxian. Best bang for your buck. It may not be the smallest portable but it is still discreet. I have tested it's boundaries of portability and have never been caught out. It's my only vap and it gets used daily for multiple sessions. I look forward to each and every one :)

The solo is s very affordable easy to learn with a long batt life and a fair amount of assesories wood stems gongs ect. Is it the best portable on the market depends on who u talk too.
I always say my solo taught me how use vapes. With its draw restrictions. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on my first vape.Babbling again hope it helps . lol
Can't go wrong with that.HaHa

People like to throw around stuff on here like "Cant go wrong with a solo" and I get it the solo is one of the most liked vaporizers on here but for some people, including my self, the solo definitely was a wrong choice.
Speaking medically of course!

You should just buy a pack of Zigzags and really get the most.
Cannabis is the HOLY GRAIL not vaporizers!
I hope your trees are 8 feet tall!

I think you'd have to be fresh off the boat to buy one based on just that advice. You're likely to get bad advice on any forum from someone just throwing out their favorite vape as a suggestion, but the idea is to pay attention to the suggestions that have some substance to them- posts that have reasons why you'd want to buy a particular model.

A fellow FCer was in the Grasshopper thread waiting for the GH so he could quit combustion. Well it's going to be a while yet before the GH will be ready. I suggested the Solo because of the ease of use and that he shouldn't wait to quit combustion. I thought a Solo would make a good first vape and the GH could be his second unit.

I am sure the Solo isn't for everybody but it seems to fit well with a lot of folks.

EDIT
I agree I always do a lot of research before I shell out my hard earned money. Also health is always a concern. There are a lot of vaporizers to choose from ranging from $80 on up. You want a unit that's reliable and a company that will stand behind their product.

Most of the time you can't try out a vape before buying unless you know someone with that unit. Often we can only go by the opinions of others.

This is post #33096 of page 1324 of the Solo thread. I think I've read every single one, so could very well have a pretty accurate finger on the pulse of the "pros & cons" and "for & against" rhythm of things - that said I'd guesstimate that all in favor of the Solo probably ranges in the 95th percentile, with a few of the remaining percent stuck sitting on the fence undecided. Anyway, just adding to my many posts above and before, calling it like I see it.:2c::peace::cool:

I really love my Solo for at home portable use. I can carry it around and medicate while I am getting things done. I also have other vaporizers (see my sig), and I love them all. They all get daily use, and are used for specific purposes. You should really do a lot of reading before you buy a vaporizer, and check out vaporizers reviews on Youtube....watch a lot of them!

So I took my Solos to a party/hangout and I was sure that someone would want to combust. I loaded 'em and sent them around, and other than hitting a g-pen once, that's what we all used all night. I had one person tell me I'd convinced them to go try a vape- rock on! Only irritating thing was someone turned back on my beeps, and I don't have the hand dexterity to turn it back off easily. I managed one after a solid half hour and shelved the other for now. I'm still a little annoyed by that, tbh, why would you mess with someone elses' settings? But, had a good time, I'm thinking everyone else did, and I had battery life to spare after. Solo done us proud!

Bummer. As they say 'no good deed goes unpunished.....'.

However, I have no trouble answering your question. Ignorance. They probably didn't realize the screwed it up, just hung a little too long on the up key (go figure......).

Great story, thanks for sharing.

You would overpay Vape World by almost $100.

When I first started out I bought some things from a website that I will not mention since I do not want moderator problems. What happened was, that I quickly realized that I was the last idiot paying $225 for a Solo when a little research would have saved me $$$.

Also, if you buy from a Canadian vendor, you will save about 20% on the currency conversion.
